0.1, 0.125 and 0.15mm chisels/scribers are good for HG kits and 0.2mm for MG then ticker ones for some variance. You'll also be needing some scribing tape for those. If you messed up, you can use some liquid putty to fill in those messed up lines/scratches.😊

you might start with 0.2mm for panel lining. it's a good size for HG models and you can always go over them with a bigger scribe if you want to. also the auto-subtitles called bowser a "dopamine pincer" and that's adorable.

Gunpla is freedom. That being said normally it's .15mm is HG and RG (and EG) sized, .2mm is MG and PG sized. You can choose any variant after that meaning on HG you can do carve it like this ---/==/---. This sign (-) is .15mm, this sign (/) is a slight curved angle, this sign (=) is .3mm. You can choose to use the large 1mm, 1.5mm, 2mm, 3mm (5mm exist on products like Madworks, as far as I'm concerned I don't think SAB makes it) and carved out a fair bit on the feet then add pla plates.

You can always fill in messed up panel lines with epoxy putty and sand away the excess after it dries. Unfortunately have done this multiple times but it works well

I know in Gundam Wing, the zaku seemed to be the most basic mobile suit and often used as infantry\cannon fodder. I haven't followed any of the other 20+ Gundam series so wonder if similar Gundams serve the same roles in the many series.

Meli, yes please do a build video of the tyrannosaurus. Would also love to see a build video of the Gundam Virtue when you get around to that one. That’s going to be a time consuming kit. Also in regard to scoring panel lines, you can always fill them back in with modeler’s putty if you make a mistake. That should take away a little of the anxiety of trying it.

First off love the videos, keep up the great work. I noticed that you mentioned being nervous about scribing panel lines, just thought i would put it out there that if you are painting your models you can fill in any scribe oopsies with tamiya putty and lightly sand. After paint you won't know the difference. Hope that helps.

The Qubeley is actually really hard to Panel line, it may turn you off of it, the curves make it difficult even with good tape. For HQ kits 0.125 or 0.150 scriber thickness is your standard but feel free to go bigger on some connecting lines to add variance. If you mess up you mess up and its fine as you will know why, to fix it you can sand out shallow cuts or fill it with melted (using cement) sprues.

I'd say like a zero and work up, that way the scribe has less chance of drifting. I am the same with kits. Building the Messer and then I find myself finally doing the fine panel lines on the Musai I have and to test out the Gundam markers because I've never used them before.

@gubplameli If you made a mistake panel line, use Mr. Surface 500, let it dry, then sand down the excess, and start over. It also helps if you draw your lines in pencil first to see your pattern. When scribing, go slow and shallow at first, then go to your desired depth.

I started learning to scribe by practicing on junk plastic like old shampoo bottles. Save planned things for the models. It's best to fill messed up scribes with putty and sand it down. You should finish the hi v(nu)

I have the MG RX-93-v2 Hi-Nu Ver. Ka and it is one of my absolute favorites! The wing funnels will be a headache though, but still not as much as the Nu Gundam Ver. Ka ones. Hi-Nu's wings are thicker and had better placement. I love the color scheme too, and is exquisite with matte coating for me

Yeah, MG Virtue is quite chonky; seems like you love the chonky boys lol yeah you can call it hair but they’re actually just cables but it’s hair for mechs, right!? ;) also, for the name of the Hi-V Gundam, the ‘V’ is pronounced Nu like ‘new’. Anyway, I got a bunch of diverse kits over past couple weeks in time for my birthday! Happy building!

Not trying to be mean but pronouncing it as Vee was used to prevent scalping. If you answered RG Hi-Nu then you could purchase it at the shops. It was a questionnaire before you can buy it although there was also some other preventable method like removing the wrappings or cutting up runners and putting it back. Those funny days are over though...for now, haven't heard of any pop quiz lately. Scalping exist on mostly pbandai stuff as far as I'm concern, I got extremely lucky getting the preorder for PG perfectibility as that is one of them, easily the first thing to go OOS in mere seconds.

13:05 I prefer more precision when it comes to panel lining, so I'd actually use a maru pen dipped in tamiya panel line wash. I make my washes by mixing Tamiya enamel paint (black, brown, dark red, silver, etc) with lots of enamel thinner. dip the pen in the wash until the hole is submerged, touch the nib in the panel line and give a little pressure to let the ink flow. any mess you make can be wiped off with the thinner. 13:44 Yes I know that feeling. In your case, it might just be love for the hobby. In my case it's called ADHD.

For some qubeley modding inspiration, check the Qubeley Papillon from Gundam Build Fighters. It's got some nice flourishes on the wing panels, and more. The Gundam Build [whatever] are always good for inspiration, definitely not the stories. :p I also always thought the Farisia from Gundam Age was a nice evolution of the Qubeley design.

I use .15 scribing chisel on HG and .30 on MG adding a couple sizes on a single kit really give a realistic look also. I would like to see that T rex built and painted great video THANK YOU meli

Panel Lines: See if you can talk to any Aircraft modelers in yor area, they do that all the time. Also, if do you paint your Gundams? If so, mistakes can be repaired with putty and sanding.

Koobelly. And I so can't wait until the MG gets in stock. The Qubeley Damned is kinda meh. Also they do have guide tape and gentle scribes. Kinda like if you use a hobby knife to scrape a little. It's Hi-Nu Gundam from the manga Beltorchika's children. I feel the same about Zaku's, I have plenty that kit has some good details for the price. Though not to be outdone by the MS-09 and MS-09R in my opinion. Love my Doms and Rick Doms.
