WRONG: The S&W EZ is an excellent firearm for someone with arthritis. The tabs on the mags make loading rounds so much more efficient. I don’t need no stinkin’ Uplula! It’s insanely easy to field strip, clean, and reassemble. I love the metal lever that raises at the top of the slide so that even if it’s dark, I can simply run my finger over it and feel that I have a round in the chamber. I love the safety in the grip, so I don’t have to use my other hand or check or fumble for a trigger safety. It forces me to remember to grip hard and I’m set. The EZ is perfect for someone who has trouble with hand strength!

Grip safeties: My wife, as a brand new shooter, picked up the Shield 9 EZ and fired 200 rounds through it before she even noticed the grip safety. She now has about 12K rounds through hers, had a custom Cerakote job done on it, and will 'absolutely not' upgrade to the Equalizer. When re-holstering, you can put your thumb on the back of the slide and the grip safety is not defeated... safer that way. There really are advantages, especially being a hammer fired pistol that lacks a trigger blade safety. No one in this family has ever had the grip safety keep the gun from going bang when they wanted it to. The grip safety hinges at the bottom, so if your grip is even half-assed you will defeat it. It's an effort NOT to depress it when reassembling the pistol.

That is why I added a 1in.x1/8in. piece of 3M adhesive soft rubber to the back of the grip safety on my wife's EZ 9MM to avoid the occasional ftf if a high tight grip isn't used. Not everyone's web on their hand between their thumb and index finger is able to reach and apply enough pressure and movement to release the grip safety with 100% reliability. S&W denied it was a problem when I contacted them about the issue and said no one has ever complained about it. Well I told them they can't ever say that again.

Everyone has their opinions on this subject. I will fall back on this; it’s not necessarily the tool, as much as it is the operator of the tool. So training is more important. With that being said (I’m not discounting the fact that a quality tool is important)! The mission is also a consideration. As an example the average CCW holder is not an operator or LEO so is less likely to find themselves in a firefight. Again I can’t emphasize enough to train and be familiar with the manual of arms for the tool you choose to carry. Im a huge fan of the P80 glocks but the current political environment made me switch to Walther and Beretta depending on my seasonal environment.

Darryl for some reason didn't want to specifically give a list of anything. Some of what he liked I've had considerable trouble with. Like the P365 that has has FTE troubles twice, & dead front sight twice. My P365XL has been sent back twice for dead triggers & now the front sight has died. My PC Shield Plus with its 4" ported barrel had to be sent back with FTF with only the 13 rd. mag. I also was unable to remove the slide. I believe these 2 issues were related because after S&W fixed it the same 13 rd. mag gave no more problems. Since it has been reliable with only the occasional stove pipe. My 1st gun was a Ruger LC9S Pro & only got a couple of thousand rds. through it before Ruger had to replace it.with a pistol of my choice, which was a Ruger SR9C (love this pistol-shoots great, reliable, durable so far), accurate after drifting the adjustable rear sight with another adjustment to elevation. My Ruger LCP2 needed a new barrel and ejector. My Kimber Micro 9 was only good for 500 rounds before it began to have many malfunctions. And Kimbers customer service is poor. Getting your tooth pulled is an easier process! I shot my CZ P10C to death which only took a couple of thousand rounds. But CZ did right by replacing it with a 2nd Gen P10C which has a much better trigger than the 1st Gen. So far it is holding up but I only shoot my carry guns the most (P365, P365XL with an aftermarket 4.2" SS threaded barrel) , & the PC Shield Plus with the 4" ported barrel). As none have been shown to be 100% reliable I was hoping for Darryl to say what is reliable. All I got was Glock with aftermarket parts & the P365 lineup, & I've read where the Hellcat has some trigger problems. So I really didn't learn anything. I guess there will be more self education for me but was hoping for some real honesty. I will hope that other viewers will chime in & hopefully get some honesty there.

Revolver guy here. I openly admit that they are my preference and I am probably biased. However, it was interesting to me that the only reason the gunsmith gave for revolvers “jamming” was because of people Hollywooding the cylinder. Anyone who seriously carries and runs revolvers knows to not slam the cylinder shut. So, if you don’t do that then things do not get bent. Revolvers can fail but they will not “jam” in the way semi autos do. No failure to feed, no failure to eject, no double feeds. It’s true that a revolver can fail to operate if there is build up underneath the ejector star or in the cylinder. But if you keep your revolver clean that doesn’t happen. It’s also true they can break and have a catastrophic malfunction that would need to be fixed by a gunsmith, but that can happen to any gun. Anything man made can break. But if you shoot your revolver pretty often, perform function checks regularly, keep it clean and make sure all screws are tight, it will be extremely reliable, and the old saying of “six for sure” will prove to be pretty true.

I've been shooting IDPA for over 25 years and am a SO, I've seen pretty much every type and model carry guns come through. Plus I build 1911 and work on them, in amateur status. IMO, the single most prevalent issue with mass produced guns is MIMS parts. They are SO unreliable. Not a matter of IF, but WHEN they will fail, and at least is an aggravation, to a total catastrophic failure. Mostly the latter. SO, when talking about this topic, I suggest separating that from the overall function of the gun. Meaning, I can take a cheap, unreliable gun and make it reliable, BUT the overlall configuration is a whole nother thing. ALSO, are they talking about "out of the box'? I wouldn't trust ANY mass produced gun "out of the box". As a matter of course,I replace all MIMS parts with forged and polish up all mating surfaces. I have owned and shot about every make and model, including revolvers And I have my own preferences: I do not like Sigs, H&k, CZ, M9, et al, for two reasons - the bore is a mile over the grip and I hate DA/SA. I don't like Glocks for the same reasons mentioned in the video. I had a S&W mod 66 revolver that was sending fire and lead out the side of the cylinder. I shot a Ruger SP101 that quickly developed timing issues, so I ditched carry revolvers. Now, I'm old school and carried a JMB 1911 ( Colt Combat Commander, 70 series) in the USMC (I joined in 1976, at 17) for 8 years, but I can't carry a 1911 as a civilian. I carried IWB at 4:00, and found that my daily activities took the thumb safety off and depressed the grip safety, on a condition one 1911, so that''s no good. SInce then, I've switched to appendix carry and a S&W M&P9, as I love the grip angle and SA trigger. IMO, it's truly a "point and shoot" pistol. I regularly shoot keyholes with minimal effort.

The only thing you need to replace on a glock is the place holder sights. Which work just fine actually. Especially if carried in a kydex holster with tall and wide sight channel. 300-350 guns can be perfectly reliable, there's a ton of competition these days driving prices down so there's a lot of reliable options for people who can't afford training, holster, ammo, AND a 500+ dollar gun CZ P10C Caniks like they discussed Ruger LCP/LC9/etc SAR B6P9C EAA Witness P compact Those are just ones I have personal experience with.

CZ made in the Czech Republic. Slovakia and Czech has been manufacturing weapons I believe since the 19 th century. They can be heavy but ultra reliable and accurate out of the box and that’s what it’s all about.

I’m one a them poor folks that Carries a budget gun . I’ve carried a few different ones over the years and everyone I’ve carried has never failed to go bang when I pulled the trigger. I even carried a 1942 Nagant for sometime as it was the gun I had. I’ve never owned a Glock and never will. I don’t like the way it feels in my hand + I don’t like the idea of blindly following the crowd. There are other very reliable guns out there, and even more affordable ones, that aren’t Glock. I’ve been a fan of Ruger since before Glock ever came out and they’ve never failed me. I trust them and I stick with them.

Appreciate you video and viewpoints. I've never felt comfortable with the Glock grip. Maybe because I'm an old poop. I used a .357 Colt Python as my duty gun in the 70's. Along with a well maintained and upgraded 1911 for off duty carry. So no Glocks, I prefer the M&P 9mm. The grip just feels right in my hand and I shoot it better than the Glock. Nothing personal. It's just about fit. Like Wrangler jeans fit me and feel better than Lee jeans. Both are good products so no arguments from me. However, last week I purchased a Shield Plus. I live in a state that allows more than 10 round mags. Which, btw DOES negatively affect my grip. So, I ordered and picked up a 2nd 13 round mag at the local Sportsman's. The kid behind the counter is darn near rabid on how much better his Glock 19 is. To the point that I finally had to dead eye him and say "You do you". The only other thing that I can think of that folks just get so worked up or passionate about was Ford vs. Chevy or Mopar, muscle cars or pickups.

So is any Glock clone reliable such as the Palmetto dagger?
@established_18034 ай бұрын
I had 2 hks p2000 and p30s they both had random malfunctions that I didn’t care for but my glocks never had an issue. I had viktors legacy cut up my glock 19 in fairport Ohio and I love it. I didn’t used to love the thing but I made it mine since I gotta trust it with my life. I might have them trim out my slide for rmr but I shot one with rmr and it wasn’t like a video game it still takes getting used to

If you do another video go over some DA/SA pistols. Nicely done! Sig Sauer left Germany cause they couldn't land a big contract, had some issues after they sold to Colombia with falsified papers. So there are German tolerances, Swiss tolerances and USA tolerances. If you get your hands on an old XFive or a P210 that wasn't shot a lot, that's toight like a toiger and smooth. Now not even the 'custom' shop gets close. It would be cool to talk about less known or less widespread brands like some Grand Power, Arex, Steyr, Arma Zeka or also talk about Block derivatives directly bought from an 'upgrade' company vs. buying a bunch of bits.

Nicely done. I have come to find out that it is getting harder and harder these days to find a "bad" pistol if you are spending around 500+ dollars. Glock, M&P, CZ, Walther, Sig, H&K, FN, Beretta, and yes even Canik all make great firearms. The one exception that I will make is that I don't care for any pistols that aren't coming out with an optics ready slide.

What do you recommend for the 80+ year old with hand strength issues, stroke or arthritis? 2 of the 3 380EZ Smith and Wessons in the family have the last live round stove pipe issue. Been back to S&W and still have the issue. Any suggestions to fix it? Adding a red dot did make it even easier to rack, didn’t help the stovepiping. Thanks
@patientestant Жыл бұрын
Have you been storing the magazines full? That could help. If the spring is not as stiff, I think it helps reduce the stove piping issue. Have you tried different ammo?
@charlesmckinley29 Жыл бұрын
@@patientestant they have done it sense new. It is only the very last round in the mag and when you have a proper tight grip on the pistol. If I replace the mag spring it will be harder for them to load. They run like sewing machines except for the last round.
@hondasaurusrex6998 Жыл бұрын
I'm up there in age as well. My choice is SIG Sauer p365-380 with manual safety. Easy to rack, great shooter.
@B_R_ Жыл бұрын
Sounds like a definite magazine or mag catch/release button issue. You can end up with slight over insertion or slight under insertion if the cuts in the magazine body are slightly off or if the magazine release mechanism inside the grip is slightly off. There's really no room for it to be anything else or it would happen more often than just the last round. Stay on Smith & Wesson customer service until they correct it for you.
@charlesmckinley29 Жыл бұрын
@@B_R_ thank you. It would be the button mechanisms as the mags work fine in the third pistol. I was hoping it was fixed in the Performance Center guns but it showed up on the first video I watched on the PC version.
