IF you really mean "lucky" but try to say "Fortunate" you COULD get a 'sexy' result! Howler! The woman heard it....

Regarding 6:43, for those who are unfamiliar, verdigris is corrosion on the brass casing of a cartridge. Verdigris develops from a chemical reaction with the copper in the brass alloy and appears as a green color analog similar to rust. Some cartridge casings, however, will have a nickel plating over brass in order to inhibit verdigris. Verdigris corrosion can also occur if brass cartridges are stored for a long time in leather cartridge belts whereby chemical residue in the leather reacts with brass to form green staining. Verdrigris is French for the color green-grey.

My grandfather used to go to the range with his brother who had served in the Phillipines conflict. They bought Colt Officer models, one in 38 special with a 7.5 inch barrel and the other a .45 that I never saw. I shot it a fair amount in the 50s and my son now has has it for over 20 years in Florida where he eventually did exactly what Massad advised and had a gunsmith check it who told him it was as serviceable as when it was new. He didn’t take the pistol seriously until he realised he had inadvertently foiled a home invasion when a fake damsel in distress knocked on his door and he felt something wasn’t right. That’s when he had the pistol checked out and bought a quick access gun safe for it. I know the long barrel is not ideal for home defence, but better than no gun at all. The family horse pistol lives on.

"We are very F-Fortunate!", best Intro for Ayoob. No one else deserved the "F"? 😀

Sage advise from an expert. My .38 saved me more than once during my 30 year career & my preferred EDC in retirement is a 340PD loaded w/+P.

Ive put more rounds down the barrel of a double action revolver in my teens than anything else. For carry i like my 32. semi automatic, or a subcompact .40, but i have a soft spot for the K and J frame .38s. The K frames are nearly a perfect fighting gun imo provided the fight is over within the first 6, however there is no way to know that. Im happy you were served well with a .38. Hopefully that 340 will keep the peace well into your retirement.

@@WhoBallCain if the .32 doesn't do the same damage as a .38 does but you know it does enough...
@WhoBallCain3 жыл бұрын
@@comanchedase the .32 auto is my gun when I am not supposed to carry, or when out jogging because its so light. Its a keltec. The magazines are so small they look like bic lighters! They hold 7 cartridges each. So essentially with 2 bic lighters and a gun that is less obtrusive than a large modern phone i can carry 22 rounds of ammo! At that point, its hard to argue with that sort of capability from such a convenient package. .38 special +p however is always going to warm my heart. Such a pleasant chambering in the K frames and a real hammer in the J frames haha!

@@WhoBallCain Agreed the airweight 38 are a hand full especially with +P ammo.

I own a Smith 342 airlite TI (titanium cylinder) centennial type j frame...38sp...11.5 oz unloaded! .. two pieces of advice purchase a full size rubber hogue monogrip cushions the hand from recoil and gets all the fingers on the grip for maximum control. These larger grips still fit in the pocket of my blue jeans in a DeSantis Superfly pocket holster...#2 . Carry Federal HST 38 + p 130 grain hollows.. Federal seats the huge hollow point deep in the case to build up plus p velocity without adding more powder the result is this round is the lightest recoiling38 I've ever fired it's even less recoil.. think critical defense lite 90 grain.. truly remarkable

If you inherit an old gun of any type, the first thing you ought to do is take it to a good gunsmith for a thorough inspection and cleaning.

Have been firing and carrying 38 special snub revolvers. Since 1986... My current carry is Smith 342 airlite TI titanium cylinder 38sp ...11.5 oz!!! I installed full size rubber hogue monogrips.. covers the back strap and cushions my hand from recoil.. gets all my fingers on the grip.. I can still easily fit my snub in my right front pocket in a DeSantis Superfly pocket holster.. my carry ammo is federal HST 38p plus p.130 gr .. this rounds felt recoil is less than even the critical defense 90 grain light... Federal achieves plus p velocity by seating the huge hollow point deep in the case. Without adding more powder... The edge of the huge hollow point is even with the case rim like a wadd cutter.. along with being accurate this round can penetrate 13 in of denim covered ballistic gel in fully expand.... According to the test I've seen.. along with a little bright red paint on the front sight I can hit targets accurately out to 45 to 50 ft.. I find these DAO centennial type revolvers triggers to be much lighter and smoother than revolvers I have that have a hammer
