Story on Hemorrhage: Carl Bell explained on an episode of VH1 Storytellers in 2001 stating: "This is as deep as it goes, for me. When I was younger, my grandmother got cancer. By the time they found it, it was much too late. Instead of sitting in some hospital, she wanted to go home and be home. And my mother and my aunts and their husbands went to sit with her at home. A few months passed, and the cancer had spread, it had eaten up most of her body and all of her hope, and it was a bad time. One particular day was a really bad day for her. My mother was sitting with her that evening, and she turned to my mom, and said, 'How do you die?' It crushed my mom, and it's still crushing me."

My wife and I saw Fuel with Oleander and Three Doors Down in 2000. As we walked into the arena, she asked if I wanted to pick up a couple of beers, and I specifically remember saying, “That’s OK. Let’s get a good spot near the stage for Oleander and, if Fuel sucks, I can grab drinks then.” I have no idea what I was thinking, because they absolutely stole the entire show, making Oleander look like a garage band and Three Doors Down flat out boring by comparison. I doubt they had enough material, but if they could’ve played the entire night, I would’ve gladly stayed until the end. As it was, we left about 30 minutes into Three Doors Down’s 90-minute set and picked up “Something Like Human” on the way home.

I went with some friends to watch them put on a free show in a cd store in Harrisburg the night they released sunburn. I was blown away with the show. And I will never forget how crazy it got when they played Mary pretends 🤘. Sad that their time together was so short.

I loved this band and still do! I showed my son them and he enjoyed them too. I got to see them once in Barrie, Ontario, Canada in the early 2000s. They did not disappoint. It was only a 30 minute set but boi did they play!

Keeping up with the line-up changes since the Angels & Devils album is kinda impossible now. It really seems like Brett and the rest of the original band can't stand each other and there is some legal catfight for the name Fuel. At least there is a new record coming, I'll check that out! All albums had some tracks on them I liked, Natural Selection is my favorite.

4:24 bruh, this is middle school in a nutshell for me. Spineshank's Strictly Diesel, Cold's debut, Staind's one decent album and the single greatest album of that era; L.D. 50. What a great time for music.

The first time I ever heard Fuel was in 98 or 99 at Guavaween in Ybor City Florida. I went with my best friend as a kind of welcome home after moving back from out of state. I heard Bittersweet for the first time and loved it. Bret has an amazing and unique voice. Told my best friend on the way home that I needed to get that CD just to hear that song again..He laughs and holds up a CD and says "This one?" He loaded it up and we jammed for an hour on the way home. Went the next day and bought it myself and have been a fan ever since. That whole era of music (late 90's - early 2000's) has a distinctive sound and I miss the feeling I had at that age and time listening to it. Now its nostalgia.

Shimmer wasn't one that I had really heard when the album came out, but Hemorrhage was. Still a favorite song of mine to this day. Rather than Shimmer, the other song by them that was really played a ton on the radio where I'm from in 2000 was "Bad Day".

I first saw Fuel right after they moved to PA, I went to see A LOT of bands back in the day and they were one of the few that, immediately struck me as having the "it" factor. Chatted with Carl quite often back then, didn't see them after their last show as an unsigned band though.

Haha I was just listening to Spotify and a fuel song came on. I've been listening to quite a bit of Ice Nine Kills so...I didn't think my 90's playlist would mix with the modern stuff but there it was...Jesus or a gun. Anyhow, I was curious about what they were up to today. Great timing!

Shimmer really is that good. I still listen to it very frequently.

I went to see Three Doors Down in 2000 or 2001. Fuel opened for them. They rocked the mother. 3DD was lame af in comparison. The lead singer had serious stage presence, likably cocky. Great, underrated band

I'll add in that it wasn't reported that they tried to get Daughtry. They saw him perform and they were there and they interviewed them on TV and they said that he is exactly what they were looking for and offered him a job right then. Literally on American idol.

former Extreme drummer Paul Geary was managing Fuel at the time, and he was the one who asked Daughtry to join

105.7 the edge is the radio station in Harrisburg that played shimmer before they got big . It's now 105.7 the x and they still play their music. I grew up in Harrisburg and they were the best music that ever came out of that crap hole of a city .
