The work offsets function of Mach3 is a very handy tool. It can memorize positions of your table and recall them quickly. This video shows how to use them in a simple quick way.
This is also useful for programming a position for tool changes or other maintenance.

Totally new to cnc and mach 3 and been having a hell of a time just getting the machine back to home after running a programme , if i go to machine co ordinates after the programme has run and click on go to zero only the z axis moves . So if i make a part and use G55 as my tool offset can i put G54 at the end of that code to tell the machine to go to home or machine reference zero ?

I have 4 offset values in my gcode program. I selected a corner of my work piece and then 0,0 for G54 offset. I then referenced 3 other locations from G54 on the work piece and then zeroed each one as G55, 56 & 57 offsets. The program runs perfectly. When I exit the code I hit fixture save. When I reload the code the 3 offsets are in the correct location to each other but not the G54 0,0 position. How do I save the offset locations correctly when exiting the program? Thanks, I really loved your demonstration.

I saw one of your videos where you had I think a felt tip marker mounted on the router head where it was offset from the bit. And you went into mach3 and configured a button that would shift the XY zero to that position, then press another button to return to the XY of the bit. I can’t find it again. This method is similar but I would like to have the other one where it would be permanent on my machine. Thanks

Thanks James for the reply. Since you are so good at Mach 3, I want to throw another question at you. let's say you have 3 or 4 parts and want cut them all at once without going home and start from the beginning. I have fixtures set up already at certain positions on the table of the mill, how can you add, let's say fixture No 56, 57, 58 and so forth to the g code. Do you have to copy each fixture to one Note pad and give it a certain name, and then load that g code, or is there an easier way. thank you in advance.

Hi Guru, I noticed you do not make many video's anymore? When you were zeroing each offset I noticed that Z axis was the last to run. I think if you were to zero all then return to that point you may have an issue if you already placed the part on the table. Any way to change that?
