When I became certified in nutrition at Cornell, I found that all the major health and nutrition organizations across the planet state that we can be perfectly healthy on plant based diets and after 9 years without eating animal products I'm living proof! As sad as it is with the chains... a 30ft chain for an elephant is the equivalent of you wearing a necklace. 30 ft of chain doesn't weigh 100s of pounds. A 1/2 chain weighs about 3lb per foot so 90lb total and that elephant isn't going to feel 90lb. It's sad for many other reasons including constantly rubbing on it's skin but...the weight is irrelevant.
