@Allison Hunter that’s incredible!! I’d love to see those videos. Majority of humans really underestimate the intelligence and compassion that most animals do possess and it’s sad that more and more children are being brought up to harbor cruel feelings for wild animals instead of how you and I feel. Our world surviving is dependent upon these animals being a part of our lives and it’s a delicate balance between what we harvest for food and what we leave for the survival of our planet!

I worked in animal care in a large nationally known museum before COVID We had an exhibit with juvenile sharks. As I was feeding them one day one became very excited and ended up pushing the lid off the tank and jumped out onto the ground. I was alone and had to grab him and get him back into the tank. I can tell you from first hand experience, even “small” sharks are VERY strong. I think the adrenaline really helped me control the shark enough to get him back into his tank. I’ll never forget it.

@Rebekah Davis I was looking for the narrator, and his helpers, to perhaps net the young sharks, them drop them into a tub of water. Not sure if that system would be any less stressful for the sharks. (And I guess a big tub of water could be too heavy to carry 150m to open sea.) This guy, Naude, from Ocean Conservation Namibia, did say here he's performed this bare-hand rescue of stranded young sharks before.
@dreammaker9642
@dreammaker9642 Ай бұрын
You underestimate just how strong and slippery small sharks can be 😂 that wet towel won’t last long. Would be indeed most effective to net them and release them off but don’t always have a small net on hand and if the shark starts thrashing like it did and swirls around trying to escape then good luck untangling it. I’d say some gloves with good grip would be most affective so to not hurt your hands and have a good grip. These ones can’t really bite but honestly smaller sharks will have a much easier time getting a bite out of you when handling then. Hence why you shouldn’t lmao but someone has to do it

INVISIGOTH I looked it up, apparently nurse sharks are the fourth most common type of shark to bite humans because of the common misconception that they are harmless. they have relatively small mouths with relatively small teeth, but they're still typical sharp shark teeth, and I'm pretty sure they feed on hard-shelled prey like mussels, clams and crabs, and have strong jaws to do that. I don't know how wide they can open their mouths, they might have some trouble getting some thicker human body parts in there, but I think you have a pretty good chance of losing whatever they do get in there if they really bite as hard as they can. so the sharks in the video could probably amputate half a hand or some toes.
