Hi Tiffanie. I understand what you are going through. At first, I went to France for a summer study program. Then I had found work there and I decided to stay and lived all over France for 4 years. I am 31 now, but I started my traveling when I was 21. Many people kept telling me that I needed to start thinking about settling down. The messages got too strong right about 26. So I decided to return back to the states. I’ve been state side for 4 years now. I ended up staying near family. My friend group or essential connection didn’t grow. I am no where near to having my own family/husband. The only thing that work in me settling and putting root is that my income has been stable and in a safe zone. Now I want a big change at 31. I wished that I never listened to any of the pressure from outside and within about settling down and putting roots. This route made me become stagnant in life. I have been offered a teaching job back to France, so in a couple of months I will resume what made me felt alive, which was to push myself out of my comfort zone through traveling and living abroad.

Definitely agree with it. You need various self-explorations to know what fits you. What made have made sense to others decades ago, is not for everyone. I believe people need you more - financially - than what you can handle. Keeping you close gives them the opportunity to not grow or face their own problems. My two cents of course. Good luck with returning to France.

Tiff, I just went through the same thing in Sept 2021: I lived in Paris for 7 years and moved back to the US after having the exact same feelings (really, all of them) that you expressed so well in your video. Do know that you're not alone in having made this really difficult decision; I grieved the loss of my Parisian identity for several months (and the reverse culture shock: oof!), but it eventually got better and I could more fully appreciate the start of a new chapter/the relief of having more control over my life than I could while living as a foreigner in that city. Best of luck with the move and readjusting to your new life outside of Paris! Courage :)

My family love having me at home but they also enjoyed coming for a visit to see me abroad. I know I need the excitement and frustration of a big city and all the noise! Europe is hard, lonely, fun and amazing all in one. I am not sure one fits back into the lifestyle one left behind after living in Europe. One learned so much about oneself. New language, culture, making friends etc. My way of seeing the world has changed a lot for the better. Enjoy going back home, family and friends. Peace!

Bravo Tiffanie! No explanation needed. I'm a believer of listening to your gut. Not being impulsive, but being in tuned with yourself, which it sounds like you are. You went to Paris for a reason. Those reasons/experiences have now been met, and it's time for another chapter of continued growth/experiences. The past two years, and even now have/are difficult to process, especially for those in isolation. Come back home and get 'grounded' with family and old friends' . Your next move will present itself. It always does when we stop holding on to what needs to be released. Fun packing and safe travels. Looking forward to your new adventures :)

I left my job with nothing to go to and I found something 2 weeks later and it ended up being the best move for me! Trust your gut and do what you think is right and it’ll work out. Everything will be ok in the end and if it’s not ok then it’s not the end 👍🏽

I think life just changes in your 30s. It's not all about age but when your in your 30s you start thinking about the bigger picture (family, do I want to own a house, parents getting older, etc). Life just starts coming at you and the fun of going out to restaurants and bars all the time like you did in your 20s just starts changing. Idk I appreciate your story and I think this feeling you feel is completely normal. Thank you for sharing

Hola Tiffany! I'm a divorced, 50-something mom and GG who is a Francophile and loves all things French as well as travel, and like you will start some globe trotting again, post-Covid. Thank you for your amazing Paris content. It kept me sane during Covid. I think what your missing is a community, a tribe. I lived in Italy for 3 months, in a little mountain town in Italy after my divorce , (Guardia Sanframonde an hour and a half from Naples) and found such warm, nurturing people. I made many life-long friends, and felt loved by the people of this town. They helped me through this painful transition. 🍎 I'm formerly from NYC, and big cities like Paris and NYC can be hard on the soul, especially as an solo entrepreneur and a vibrant, soulful, young woman. What was interesting was when I saw you thrive and come alive when you visited Mexico for a wedding. You absolutely glowed. I am a devoted beach and sun worshipper and love walkable cities, so maybe the ticket for you is something like Nice and smaller/coastal cities in France. Mexico, Portugal, Italy, and South of France are on the my travel list, maybe add some of those countries to yours and get involved with the local and expat groups. I think having a base in the states for several months and then hopping to several countries would help you find that perfect blend of community and culture. I can't wait for your next adventures. Thank you for being authentic and true to your inner voice. Bonne chance et bon voyage from your Boricua older sista! 🇵🇷❤🙏🌍✈

Oh my goodness!! Tiff you hit me in the FEELS with this one. I've been living in Spain since October and have felt burnout and restlessness within myself. I thought maybe it was because I wasn't adjusting well and not being able to see my family for Christmas. Recently I realized I am feeling tension because Spain isn't where I am meant to be but where I was meant to find the confidence I had lost and find who I am on my own. Now I am returning home to figure things out and tackle this new transition that is about to happen. Thank you so much for sharing this. I really needed it. I have felt so lost trying to figure this out on my own and it's nice to know I'm not alone in this. Cheers to new beginnings :)
