I just got done training and the only person I saw there was me. Garage gym is where it’s at, I will never shadow the doorway of a commercial gym again.

Reasons why I have a home gym. All weights go on the weight racks when not in use. All bars go on the bar racks when not in use. Chalk is used judiciously and with as little mess as possible. No one ever walks in my field of view. No one else’s sweat ever comes in contact with my bench. I have complete control over any music played. I clean up after me.

I treat putting other people's weights away as part of my training. I always leave an area the way I would like to find it and I don't really make a fuss if someone chooses to leave it in a state. No point in causing a confrontation that will get you exactly no-where. Come in, do my thing and clean up in between sets - finish up, replace the plates, clean the area and bar and leave quickly and quietly. Come in the next day - sometimes things are better or worse - rinse repeat. Great video.

As obvious as it sounds - so many people have no clue about it whatsoever. A video like this should be a mandatory watch for anyone joining a gym. And walking into your eyegaze while you're doing a heavy set should be a federal crime. It's not just rude - it's dangerous.

Sir Rip lookin' good. fwiw, on a single visit to WFAC during The Wu-Flu, it was nearly empty, had proper music (not loud, good rock), and the most intelligent rack/weight/space design i have ever seen.

Another reason i started my own garage gym was because i got sick of bent barbells and dumbells. People dropping bars on the racks when doing rackpulls and throwing down dumbells cause they cant control the weight. As a result, we get bars spinning in our hands. Destruction of equipment is the most egregious violation of them all. It should result in immediate termination of the membership with no refund. I think they should even sign a contract that they will be held liable to pay for the bars and equipment that they damage.

You know you are in a good old-school gym when the pizza dish plates are racked the right way. Soooo many people don't understand the reason for that indent.

Sometimes it’s amazing how some people need to be educated in basic shit. Keeping the plates in order seems obvious but they always find a stupid way to get it wrong, some people are too below average…

Putting your weights and equipment away when you've finished is basics. Failure to do so means you didn't complete your workout. Always raise your standards never lower them to meet someone else's.

You not taking your plates off the bar and racking your weight tells me you think your time is more valuable than mine. I don’t care if you’re squatting 135 or 535, put your shit back where it’s supposed to go. I’m in agreement with 100% of what was said. Put your shit away and stay in your bubble.
