Love the nickname 😂 I remember my initial confusion on how to obtain Flygon in Gen 3; young me evidently couldn't fathom that Trapinch of all things could have evolved into Flygon, so I guess for a while there I assumed that either Flygon was a standalone or Trapinch was the standalone (I eventually figured it out just by leveling up my Trapinch though).

I actually love Flygon and have had problems using them in later games, so to see them be so dominant through this was very much a surprise and a treat. Thanks for doing this run, seeing this dragonfly soar above the Mewtwo bar was great. Also they should 100% be a bug/dragon type and nothing will change my mind on that.

I’ve actually done a video like that years ago and scrapped the idea after. It’s just a run that comes down to pure luck each turn with no strategy and you route out the fastest path to eliminate obedience from Sabrina’s badge. I’d say obedience makes for an awful experience to both play and watch.

The title is how overpowered, not would it be overpowered. Of course it’s overpowered. I’m trying to beat my Mewtwo time that’s near world record levels. I don’t start with lower stages and evolve though. Just to keep it real, I hate that style of playthrough. All you learn is that Trapinch and Vibrava suck and things aren’t interesting until it evolves. No shade to people that do it that way but I bet 99% of viewers are just waiting to get past the cliche struggles.

I had to go look at what Gen 9 dragon types had the medium slow growth rate, I figured it was probably cyclizar but tatsugiri was a surprise. Cyclizar would probably be really good into Gen 2, but man tatsugiri has a truly terrible move pool.

Garchomp was the original 'original' cross gen run from 2021! The original Tombstoner as well! I think fighting/dragon is a cool typing and electric/dragon is fine on it's own. It's just an idea but honestly I'm not sure I have the time for versus videos anymore unless people want to wait an extra week or two.

How hard would it be to program the erratic and fluctuating growth rates into gen 1? I believe fluctuating is the fastest until around level 20. Checking some of those weird growth rate pokemon might be fun. Breloom comes to mind with it's 130 base attack and interesting typing. I really liked the sprite work for this rom , it's in the gen 1 spirit, but way better 😮. I really like Flygon ,and I always thought it should have been a bug dragon type😂😂 ,by design alone. Playing around it's unique moveset alongside it great growth rate ,was a treat to watch you do that, because it's seems like a fun Pokémon to play with in gen 1, especially with dragon dance 😂😂. Mega drain was a good solution for Lorelei, and it's all thanks to the earthquake tm that you could use for Bruno later on. The best thing about that run is despite it beening a risky run ,it managed to be a restless run!👏👏👏 Outrage in gen 1 with a strong set up move was making the early game very fast, pp efficient throughout the entire run. I really like the thumbnail by the way, because Flygon looks like it's going to crush gen 1.😊 That video was the right treat I need while I'm sick. So thanks for making that awesome run!😊

Uh oh! Hope you feel better to get that Meganium out soon lol. It was fun one to do and the mega drain strat was almost from desperation just trying to see if I could avoid going to level 60+ and it gave me just enough health to make it through so it felt good. Medium slow is just fun to play for real. Yea I worked extra hard on the thumbnail. Got that custom drawn picture with the contrast and trying out the gameboy cartridge style to make it a little different. Glad you noticed!

The whole point is to compete with Mewtwo and any of these runs without it, just can't. Over 75% of the runs I've done can't even with the new moves but it's just interesting to see. I think seeing sets start with tackle and scratch and just use the same old tired moves would be much less interesting to make and play, which is what it's all about. If I'm not enjoying myself, I'm not making videos lol. This isn't my job haha.

*looks at learnset* Ah yes, early badge boosting move, STAB outrage and bulldoze. Yeah this should be a cakewalk. Even Bug Buzz is physical this gen and with no fairy and steel types in gen 1 and the 30+ poison types being weak instead of resistant to bug (alongside the super strong psychic type), with only pathetic and rare fire and fighting types resisting it alongside flying... a bug move is probably actually useful in gen 1. Even the 80 special will probably not hamper it significantly simply because nothing in gen 1 resists the 180 BP outrage. So really looking forward to diet Garchomp tearing gen 1 a new one. Flygon even has the good medium slow exp group to gain levels very quickly early on.

Even though the Flygon line is based on bugs, Gamefreak didn't make them Bug/Dragon type solely because Bug type offensively is bad. I think some ROM hacks make Flygon a Bug/Dragon type, I would do the same for my own ROM hack. Also, the whole line would need to get an early Bug Bite and a mid-level U-Turn for some Bug STAB moves. Flygon also needs a buff in Special Attack to further differentiate it from my boy Garchomp, since Flygon's completely outclassed by Garchomp, especially competitively.

@@GymLeaderMatt1987 Nice! I just did a Tyrantrum playthrough modifying dragon to a physical type (not a big deal since only dragon move is dragon rage and ghost is nightshade/lick). I have tried gen 6 (has dig) and gen7 (starts with rock slide, stomp, and tail whip) I was able to finish game in 3:35 (Mewtwo time 3:28 for me). I think with some good optimization, definitely a contender with stats and med fast exp rate.

Perhaps a Flygon regional variant could be Bug/Dragon. Anyway, I would think a pokémon like Froslass with its Gen VII learnset would do fairly well due to its typing and Medium-Fast Experience Group. Although I don't think Froslass would bring in the views.

2 years, but it’s not even remotely the same. I’ve been creating my own custom roms for about a year and want to circle back around. I mean, I’ve redone Nidoking, Snorlax, and I redo streams all the time. Things need updated. One janky video from years ago doesn’t hold up for tier list purposes.

I realize now what the problem is with cross gen (maybe, idk, I’m some guy). I feel like we gave up on psychic types being “super threatening pokemon” past gen 1 so there aren’t a lot of like super interesting power psychic types to do. Made me think of Azelf Mesprit and Uxie tho. One of those, prolly Azelf?, would maybe give Mewtwo a solid run? Maybe?

Psychic rightfully had to be nerfed and that's fine. It's also fitting that Mewtwo's gen 1 set is still it's strongest starting solo set to this day. Unless something starts with Psychic and another solid move and has high special, it's probably not going to cut it.

So my prediction would be that Bug Buzz trivializes a lot off fights( erica "allmost forrgott Koga" ,Agatha, champion ) due to Being Physical and thus boosted by dancing . Edit so Bugbuzz: gotd eleted quitabit earlier that expexted i thought it was at least gonna be there for Koga but either way i guess the Ranges are worse ?
