Ah yes, Luke's quest to spite wheels continues Seriously though I love this. I can't wait to see what comes with it.

Thanks! Looking at making a 12lb version that has a symmetrical top/bottom. It looks less like a duck, more like a UFO

I have never seen a walker that uses the gyroscopic effect of something that is not a weapon before.

How far do you have to tilt the gyro in order to get it to move? It doesn’t seem like a lot lol.
@LukeQuin2 жыл бұрын
it turns out very little gyro is needed. The speed you tilt the gyro makes a bigger effect than the total amount of tilt. If I made a bigger version of this robot I would want the ability to tilt quickly and tilt up to 180 degrees

@@LukeQuin Do you think this could be used with two spinning shells and a larger gyro in the center? Or would that possibly cause too much force and make it uncontrollable?
@LukeQuin2 жыл бұрын
@@404RBTCS I thought about having two shells spinning in opposite directions. It would essentially cancel out the weapon gyro which could have some interesting effects but it would increase the robots complexity a lot and I'm not sure it would truly benefit the robots mobility. A larger, heavier, higher speed gyro in the center would benefit the robot but you have to find some reasonable compromise between gyro power and weight. It's more weight efficient to spin a lighter flywheel extra fast vs a heavier flywheel slower. I think the real trick to making this work well is a microcontroller and gyro sensor that would control the servo motion automatically. The controller would attempt to keep the robot horizontal (or possibly vertical) with the weapon spinning.
