I'm an actual black guy, and I couldn't even watch this podcast without stopping multiple times when it came to you guys talking about the n word. Now this isn't even a battle I tend to fight but god damn it people are being childish. The thing about the N word- which is probably a very similar case for all of the other racial slurs or insults like cunt- is that no matter the scenario in which it is used, being offended by it is your own problem. As of right now im 25, my birthday coming up next month to be 26, I've gone through breaking up with a fiancee, depression, moving out of my parents place only to MOVE BACK IN due to not being able to afford living on my own anymore. I've gone through working at shit jobs for years, and i'm currently going through trying to establish my own life to be my own man who doesn't need his parents nor other people's direct monetary support. I've been mugged, I've been carjacked, and I've been kidnapped. I've had friends and family die from cancer and other illnesses. Point is I have gone through some adult shit in my life. I'm not a representative for black people nor am i a representative for anyone except my own person. Nor is anyone a representation of how everyone within a specific group acts. With that point across, who the hell gives a damn when someone says something like the n word, says some anti-religious shit, or says anything that someone else doesn't agree with. Objectively it's just a dude saying something stupid either intentionally or accidentally. The way you react to it is your own responsibility. It's fine to have feelings towards that kind of thing, and hell, some people are ACTUALLY triggered by that sort of thing (in a PTSD sense). But even towards the people who are actually offended by it, your reaction towards offensive shit is the important thing. Much like how idubbz explained it, when he went up to Tana Mongeau and said the n-word right next to her. She could have absolutely blasted him for it and moved on. Instead what does she do? She turns into a whiny child and acts like the dude just stabbed her parents. Being an adult about this type of thing isn't just understanding that people are offended by words. It's also how you react to when people do that kind of shit. I couldn't give a rats ass if pewdiepie yelled the n-word on stream. I ACTUALLY found it hilarious because he said it in a fit of rage so genuine that he couldn't hold it in. But the man apologized and knew that what he did was objectively wrong. It's not like the dude is going around killing black people. *TLDR*: If you're an adult. Say what you want. Just be aware of the possible consequences of those words.That's not a hard thing to do.

I'm just watching this now, and seeing the part about suicide and depression. Speaking as someone whose been in and out of hospital for suicidal thoughts and self harm, if you have ANY sort of symptoms as those please go and seek out help. I was taken to a youth hospital at 15 because of an overdose, and they started me on antidepressants, and when they found the right one for me it was like how Ethan's mom described it but not so much like a light being switched on. For me my vision changed, the world was (in my eyes) grey and dismal looking. It matched how I felt. After the antidepressants started to work, I began seeing colors more vibrant than I had ever seen before. I'm 24 now and I still see much clearer. Chemical imbalances are hard to diagnose because of how many things can be wrong. But that is why you need to seek help if you are having thoughts of suicide. You don't need to be alone, because your never alone in what you are going through.

when i was so depressed that i was contemplating suicide, i actually thought i was being selfless. i though of myself as a burden, that it would be better off for everyone if i was dead. somebody telling me that i was being selfish for contemplating would have made me feel like an even worse person and suicidal cause of that and that i thought removing myself was the nicest thing i could do. with hindsight i know that wasn't true, but in that state people aren't really rational.
@tianatague49654 жыл бұрын
I’m a year late but I thought the same way when I was at my worst. Even now I do think that way. But some days I would think that even if I was being selfish, I deserved to be selfish because of the people around me. When some people around you make you feel like a burden while others take all of the little you had to offer people telling you you’re selfish just makes you really feel angry and even more isolated. Sorry for commenting this but watching them speak made it difficult for me not to say a little something even though I’m commenting two years later

@fairysekai18806 жыл бұрын
yes they do, and in the UK you can be stuck waiting for a place in a longer stay bed to open up. depending on the staff they can evaluate if having your phone is a risk for you. for my sister she was given her phone after a few weeks and left it at night eventually, though it was regulated. She still had access to youtube vids and I know it helped in her recovery as it was part of her daily routine.....It really does depend on the individual though. When she was in the long term residential I don't think it was regulated too much atall, she just personally didn't have the motivation to use it.

The call from Mama Klein was so good and important. I have not one but two chemical imbalances, I was basically born with depression and showed suicidal and selfharming tendencies by 4 years of age. There is depression with outside causes (like loss, divorce etc.) but most people just forget that chemical imbalances exist and that there just might not be a cure. I knew by the time I was in highschool that I will never be cured or fibd true happiness, the thing we all search for in life I know for a fact I will never experience. That’s a harsh truth to come to terms with, but I have always felt that the only reason I keep going is I know it would be a bigger burden for my family if I died than if I stay here.

I had depression and Anxiety growing up, and I was so sure that with all the shit going on in my life (Bad relationship with my mom that ended with my dad telling me to leave the house, and an abusive boyfriend) I would be way better dead, because then my family and friends wouldn't be burden with my existence, it sounds so silly now but that's how i thought, i made logic out of it. Therapy helped give me the skills to fight this and slowly get better, and now I'm starting to feel a lot better, with suicide no longer on my mind. Therapy is there for you, please don't ignore it, they are there to help.

I'm not here to dislike or unsubscribe, as I still adore Ethan and his content. However I wish that he would have made more of a formal and rational response to his concerns about Scarce and Keem. Scarce made it very clear that he loves Ethan and his videos, and that he was sure it was a misunderstanding. Neither Keem or Scarce implied that Ethan was a hypocrite. It was unfair to bash them for simply stating the truth. They didn't present the other side because Ethan had not yet made a counter argument for the claims. If he had just gone about this situation in a more calm manner instead of being so reactionary and hostile, people would probably understand where he was coming from. I love you Ethan but I think it would be best for you to apologize and try to clear things up in a less hostile way so people will listen to you.
@sabrinajacobs1617 жыл бұрын
BriqzTM I’m not offended, I’m simply pointing out the inconsistencies in his statements, as most other people are. If you don’t think he was wrong, that’s fine. But I personally think he should apologize.
@sabrinajacobs1617 жыл бұрын
I’m not asking him to apologize for me, I’m asking him to apologize for the sake of his reputation and KZbin channel. If he wishes to continue to have a household name here on KZbin, it’s in his best interest to handle a situation like this in a more professional and formal manner. Being immature about it only makes him lose credibility in this kind of community, especially since he has built his brand on being the “voice of reason” in many ways.

Out of curiosity I checked the Scarce video you metioned and honestly I tought he's been super nice. Yes, he reported a bad news about you, but that's what was happening and rather than you like it or not that is his job and in the end he even took your side. Not a fan of drama channels but this time to me it looks like you got a bit salty for nothing. I'm a bit disappointed about how you decided to handle the situation, I think you could have done better. Love you guys anyways, like pewdiepie everyone can make mistake.

Gossip is not news. Reporting on the butthurt feelings of a fraction of the fanbase is not even remotely newsworthy. Even by Scarse and Keem's low standards.
@Metalrubrik7 жыл бұрын
Yes I agree, it's gossip what they do and not real news and again, I'm not a fan of it. Still their job and think Ethan went wrong here as I didn't see Scarce going after him, but even defending him in the end (didn't see keemstar). It really looks like he was just pissed and wanted to blame someone. I don't know, it was the first time I felt unconfortable watching Ethan. He should have just explained how his situation was completely different from the pdp one and don't be so beefy against those two cause he looked like a dick. And when he said to the fans to unsub just because they didn't agree with him I felt serious cringe. Still my favourite youtuber....as he said "You can be disappointed at someone, but still be friend (In this case, follower or wathever you name it)"

Both Keemstar and Scarce just reported in the influx of videos that called you a hypocrite they didn't call you on. Scarce even said that he loves your content. I don't care that you said the word during the podcast with idubbz but you're really disappointing alot of people here by calling Keem and Scarce out for something they didn't do. On top of that the fans that just blindly side with one or the other doesn't help the situation it's creating a huge divide that isn't going to help your credibility as a KZbinr and your viewers as a fanbase.

The way I see it, Ethan has been a voice for free speech on the platform. Personally I do see hypocrisy in setting out rules for use of a word when it is used in a non-racist way. Stopping racists speech is a different conversation than the when, where, why and how of a word used in any other context - which is actually about when censorship is needed and when it isn't. That is a mixed message in my personal opinion.
@austin13777 жыл бұрын
The issue is that what pewdiepiew affects everyone on this website. Remember the adpocoylpse? Yeah. That's why it matters. This is everyone on this websites livelihood, and if you want youtube to be something more than makeup tutorials and nursery rhymes then its time to start holding people like pewdiepiew responsible for their mistakes - because they can have consequences (even if the original cause was kinda bullshit, if it happens again who the fuck could be surprised)

Being suicidal to me felt like I was the butt of the universe’s joke. That deep down I only expressed my emotions so I could stop feeling them. It makes you feel weak to communicate them and that there was strength in taking a path that lead to death. Everything else was just a cop-out and a way to distract yourself from the truth. That you don’t really like being alive, but you dislike the unknown of death even more. Idk I still struggle with those feeling to this day but your podcast has made me consider antidepressants. Papa blesssss
@Kitty444j3 жыл бұрын
U explained this better than anyone ive ever heard
@Hallaboutthatbass3 жыл бұрын
Please please please try antidepressants. I was suffering from depression and anxiety for over a decade to the point where I was so afraid that I didn’t know who I was with out them. I was suicidal for such a long time. Honestly the only thing that kept me from doing it was the idea of how traumatic it would be for someone to find my body. Started Lexapro at the beginning of the pandemic and honestly it changed my life. I used to think I’d be dead by 25. I’m now 25 and getting married in a couple months.
