I have literally never commented on KZbin before, but this pissed me off so much. Dr. Drew is not a licensed counselor or therapist. He is a drug and addiction specialist. He works in medicine for people detoxing, not psychology or therapy. His degrees are in biology and medicine. He has no qualification for acting like he is an authority on mental illness, relationships, or anything having to do with psychology that is not drug or addiction related. To make matters worse, he is a creep. I had to stop reading his book because he kept complaining about how he couldn't stop being sexually attracted to one of his rehab patients. Gross. I hope they see someone qualified next time so they can BOTH feel valid in their emotions. I also hope Dr. Drew stops pretending to be a psychologist.

@COVID i agree. People are reading into this so much, which I personally think reflects on the audience more than the performance. Really, we should be concerned about the level of manipulation that advertisers and creators have reached. @birdy__4 жыл бұрын
@COVID So tell me how all of this is Moses' fault then. I'll wait.
@birdy__4 жыл бұрын
@COVID The root of the problem is what's going on between Moses, Hila and their family. It needs to stay separate from the podcast in every way. You assume Trisha is what's causing the problems but that's not the case. There could be lots about Moses and his life that their family don't approve of rather than his latest gf. Ethan has even stated it's not Trisha. If Moses is not taking calls or answering texts from family that's his choice. If they're arguing it's not surprising to me. Moses still considers himself Israeli but not Jewish. That could easily be the reason they're arguing. Or his choice of career. Or him coming to live in the US. So many possibilities. But, Hila saying she thinks it's Trisha somehow preventing him from communicating is an extremely provocative thing to say to anyone, let alone Trisha! Trisha's paranoia is what's escalated things no doubt. BUT. Ethan has assumed Trisha's boundaries would be the same as his, he should've known they wouldn't be. Ethan knew far more about Trisha than Moses did, when they started the dating game way back. Boundaries should've been set from the beginning of the podcast if not earlier given the romantic status going on and, all of this wouldn't have happened. If Moses tells Trisha exactly what's going on between him, Hila and their family it would only be a matter of time before she blurted. Which is exactly what none of them want, Trisha included. Part of being involved with Trisha is managing her well documented mental health problems. She accepts that. She overshares, they knew that about her. If Ethan wants to do business with her he has to accept that about her. It's not about fault, it's about reality and practical solutions. Until and if Trisha works through her problems and can control or manage them better herself, it's likely she will blow up again. She needs time and support and guidance. It's obvious. Which is why Ethan said he would never abandon her. He's realising the power he has to help her or hurt her. Trisha has to learn to trust him with that power. You don't like it but the fact is Trisha is the victim. She needs people she can trust around her in order to learn normalcy. To set her straight when she needs it and be supportive when she needs it. But it has to be done with compassion. No anger or aggression. Trisha doesn't even know what all of her triggers are yet because there's so much of her past she doesn't remember. She doesn't understand why she does the things she does yet. She's in the very early stages of her mental health recovery journey. During the course of this podcast Ethan has been shocked to hear some of her life experiences. How matter of fact she is about them. She is so emotionally dissociated there's no wonder she behaves the way she does. She's hypervigilant. Constantly on guard. Anyway, that's the situation as I see it. I have personal experience of being around someone with BPD/DID. She's not a villain and neither is anyone else. There just HAS to be boundaries for everyone's sake.

16:52 dr drews aggression towards ethan is so unprofessional. he acts like ethan is supposed to be a professional dealing with bpd and is responsible if she has a meltdown. hes also is a human and is 100% allowed to be upset at someone creating a wedge in his relationships. which ethan was handling so well and gets no credit for it

Dr Drew saying "that's actually not important" when Ethan was trying to express his point & then Trisha laughing at that comment, made me sus of Drew. Clearly feeding Trish's ego. Probably bc he wants her on his show to exploit her. Putting all the responsibility of balancing emotion on Ethan is outrageous. Trish needs to be responsible for what comes out of her mouth.

yeah but that's not the issue here? they're trying to mitigate trisha's emotional episodes. ethan has more emotional control which is why dr drew puts more of an onus on him. it's not inherently fair but part of being in a relationship with someone with personality disorder that ethan is a consenting (and benefitting) member of. if ethan needs support from trisha for mental health or to take a break for mental health then that absolutely should be a part of the discussion but he has never expressed that in any conversation or the many videos discussing this fight.

I would NEVER ask someone I love or care about or even interacts with me to understand the thought process behind the shitty things I can say. It is never on them and they have their own things going on. No matter what mental health condition you have, your actions are always your responsibility. Nothing she said in the last episode was even remotely okay and I can't believe anyone can try to back her up on it and not validate the emotions of someone, like ethan, who "has to accept" the shitty things she does because of her mental health. I agree about the splitting behaviour, that was an interesting moment. I think learning about 'mental health' is a GREAT way for 'mentally healthy' people to recognize their own shitty behaviour lol. My family loves to put themselves on the 'mentally healthy' pedestal, and then engage in incredibly toxic and manipulative behaviour. Splitting is also incredibly human, I know I've done that behaviour before without realizing what I was doing. Most folks with known mental health issues are well aware that we cause problems, and it's nice to see the 'normies' realize they are also problematic. I think his reaction to the nanny thing (I don't rememberhis original reaction, just what's in this video) is pretty normal, too. I don't think it was Trish's intention, but that's basically saying that she thinks he's making supbar parenting choices. Anyone who loves their child would have a reaction to that, you'd have to be a monk to take zero offense to that. I think they are both flawed people, like the rest of the human population, and it's nice seeing them work through their issues and see where their issues cause friction

I have a family member with BPD, and I’m not trained in BPD either, but if I wanted to keep living with them and not walk on eggshells, I had to learn the right way to respond to them when they’re in an episode.
