As a person who has been arrested in extreme prejudice, they do not treat you with respect. They grab your wrist and twist, and then you're slammed, SLAMMED on the ground or hood of a cruiser. Dan’s very lucky to have freinds like that, I always make sure to tell all my friends every once and a while that they are handsome/ pretty etc. mainly because even tho they are good looking you never know what that person sees when they look in the mirror or what their self image is. I tried it briefly and the algorithm was actually pretty good. I basically only saw content I enjoyed related to niche interests of mine and it didn’t take the algorithm long to pick up on the content I enjoyed. A lot of good comedy stuff on there. Also a lot of educational and political stuff surprisingly. It’s also very popular with teens so naturally there’s lots of immature or irresponsible trends, but if that’s not the sort of content you’d be watching then it’s not the sort of content you’ll be likely to be shown much if at all. I don’t regret trying it or think it’s inherently bad. I had an enjoyable experience. Figured I’d mention that because I think people get the wrong idea about the app in the same way people get the wrong idea about KZbin when judging based only on viral trends or controversies involving big creators. I personally don’t think it’s any worse than KZbin or similar social media, even though I prefer KZbin.

Trying to romanticise arrest and police violence are disturbing trends in general, but I think the point of the original comment is just that it feels especially dismissive of racial minorities who are often most harshly impacted by the realities of these things when mostly white people turn it into a “sexy” trend for attention.
