H6 Swap the Baja

OMG. Everyone does an STI swap with the Baja but I want it to also do off-road so I’ve been thinking of the H6 and wondering if I could make it fit somehow. That’s when I came across your channel. I already subscribed and will be following your build. Unfortunately I won’t be able to start on my Baja any time soon but I can’t wait to bring my vision to a reality. I have an ’06.

STI engines are trash in 2022, only the transmission/driveline is worth anything these days. You can have all the best bits of the STI with an H6 if you want :) Might have to convert the clutch from push style to pull style but it's been done many times :) And i think DCCD would be a big help for off-roading,

You are now expert level with the H6 .. good job very impressive you got the stock ecu..wiring all figured out. I'm about to buy a H6 too for my 2017 BRZ.. not sure if I will be able to figure out stock ecu or go haltech..

I love H6 swaps. Only thing that's annoying is the manual with the ECU problems

wait wait wait wait - this has the original Subaru EJ251 ECU in it, and it's somehow able to fire an H6? Am i understanding this right?

@@John-rw9bv dude that’s where I’m lost at also. I just watched another guy struggle to swap full harness with engine and it look horrible but this dude just plays with the magic box and wala running h6 I’m lost.

@@custombuildsgarage.9996 Yeah, I think shenanigans, because I recently tried to swap a EJ221 (engine) into an EJ251 (car/ecu), and you have to swap not just the ECU but a whole bunch of sensors, the timing marks on the crank are different, etc. I assume they used 6-cyclinder ecu for the H6 lol

how did you get the ecu for the 2.5 to run the h6 Ive been dieing to swap my baja but its manual and was thinking id need to swap all the trans wiring from an h6 if i can not do that this would save days.

Thank you and yes. The Racecar currently has a second gen EZ30R in it running a haltech ecu, which I go through installing in a few of my other videos.

Realistically nowadays $800+ for a motor or buy a whole car for $2000+ which will give you everything you need to swap into your car. The original swap into my impreza cost me under $2000 4 years ago
