Couldn't agree more with Bruce Cassidy and Robert Yee. I pay Netflix just for entertainment; I pay 3-4€ a week for a bottle of wine (Spanish... not so into beer). Honestly, the 5 bucks tier a month on Patreon is ver little and looks like a very good investment to me. I'm sick of going to and fro when and where Apple or any other big guy says. Teresa, that's simply brilliant!! Though I have one question, if I may? I see that you've connected the Displays to the Virtual Host (I think I saw this correctly) is this part of the pass-through you made mention of? Meaning you'd plug in the HDMI cable to video card for Mac OS and USB for Keyboard/Mouse on the same box? Don't mean to be dense here, just never done anything like this. Thank so very much for all you do, you are the absolute best!

Great video, good solution! One question I have. How do you fixed the trim issue for SSD on ZFS on Linux. As I know trim support for SSD on ZFS on Linux is supported with the very new version 0.8 at first. Proxmox will integrate ZoL version 0.8 not before Proxmox version 6.0, as I have heard. Using SSD without trim support could result in data lost. Another question, as you show you use two grafic cards for the Hackintosh and one for the win 10. So no grafic card left for the Proxmox host. Troubleshooting could be very hard in this configuration. How you follow the boot process, for example. The motherboard in your description don't have an option for KVM, ILO, IMM or similar.

Good Video, you scratch only the surface of what Proxmox can do.. actually you can create a MONSTER with cheaper hardware, just maybe hard energy bill but amazingly powerfull. I have working since a year a Dell R810 Cuad CPU (10 cores each) with 512 gb ram... and you can run a full Azure stack in one machine if you want. Also several Win-Linux-Mac workstations from 8 to 32 gigs of ram. VDI is not major problem with Spice client and Passtrough also got improved, so you can share your hard between several VMs transparently (one at time). Also, the most important thing. you can run containers (LXC ) and Docker (create a VM for that since is not native) but instead to create a VM for run apps, you containerize the app and is like one VM. Ceph is another feature, so cloud (virtualized private, hybrid and public) is no an issue at all. Of course is not the paradise, needs some atention and also the learning curve is steep but totaly worth. Keep forward!!! and good content..!! BTW your dogs are amazing..!!

Just wanting to know before I engage your support via Patreon. I have an existing 8700k build that does all this along with 10g networking. But I like the idea of migrating this to a single system that consolidates all the various OS installs. 10g networking is important so also wondering if that is supported through the passthrough option. One thing I've learned from running Mac OS as a virtual machine via Proxmox is you cannot get audio on the virtual mac. System preferences sound input / output are empty. I have experienced this using Clover and Opencore virtual proxmox builds. It appears none of the QEMU emulated audio devices are compatible with macOS. You can passthrough an external USB / PCie audio solution, but imo the build is incomplete because it lacks the full functionality of how a Mac should be.

Great Video! So I'm interrested about making a similar configuration (KVM: Windows 10 Gaming PC + MacOs) but some questions are unanswared on my side: 1) What is the best linux distribution to use as an Host ? I'm not a fan of command line and an efficient GUI to manage VMs is essential for me. 2) I have a poweful Nvidia GPU for gaming purpose to assign to the windows VM. What is the best Amd card compatible card to assign to a Big Sur Vm for a low budget < 100$ to basically have full gpu acceleration and basic Mac Os use (App Development no video encoding or anything else costly...) ? 3) I have no integrated Gpu (Ryzen configuration), can you confirm, the host OS can use the GPu and assign it to a VM without too much issues ? 4) I don't want to switch between video sources, what is the best sofware to just mirror a VM to really use both Os fluently additionaly to something like ShareMouse for Keyboard, Mouse, copy-paste, ... This complicates my decision, but in a good way! I need to replace my aging late 2012 iMac, and was trying to choose between a new iMac (i9-9900K / Vega 48 / 512GB SSD / 8 GB RAM self-upgraded to 40 GB), a new Mac Mini (i7-8700K / Vega 56 or 64 eGPU / 512GB SSD / self-upgrade to 32 GB RAM), and building a Hackintosh (i9-9900K / Vega 56 / 1TB SSD / 32 GB RAM). But then you just had to go and show me this. :) I'm a MySQL DBA and Linux sysadmin with experience using KVM virtualization, so this fourth choice (using the same parts as my planned Hackintosh build) is definitely looking to be quite attractive. I don't do any video editing at the moment, and might not be able to afford 2 new GPU's at this time, so I would probably dedicate 2 threads and the integrated graphics to the host OS / hypervisor, and the remaining 14 threads and Vega 56 GPU to a MacOS VM, which I would shut down and give the same resources to a Windows VM for gaming. Then sometime down the road when I can pick up a second GPU, I could then run something similar to what you have demonstrated in this video. Since I don't do any video editing, I can do without the QuickSync, so the new 12-core / 24-thread Ryzen 3900X @ $499 is also quite tempting. I wouldn't have considered Ryzen for a Hackintosh build, because even though it has been done successfully, it is still quite experimental at this time. But virtualization should make this pretty straightforward, correct?

I think there cannot be any good written guide which would be suited exactly for you. it's not possible to prepare any step by step guide or video tutorial because it's so complex and wide and each build is unique and each one's needs are different, so even if I would shoot 10 hours long tutorial, first - nobody would watch it or and second - nobody would understand that and third - it would not work for any other hardware than the one I prepared it for. Also most people forget about fact computer should be tweaked and optimized for exact specific use case and that involves much more than just following some tutorial. So I plan live stream with example of configuring on single build.
