Roger Hodgson

Күн бұрын

Roger Hodgson co-founded Supertramp in 1969 and was the driving force behind what fans call the 14 golden years of the band. Roger wrote, composed, sang, and arranged the enduring rock standards that made Supertramp a worldwide phenomenon with album sales in excess of 60 million. Roger gave us the timeless classics such as Give a Little Bit, The Logical Song, Dreamer, Breakfast in America, Take the Long Way Home, It's Raining Again, Fool's Overture, School, and many more.
This performance of Had a Dream is from an August 1, 2015 show in Carcassonne, France. Had a Dream has long been a fan favorite and is frequently requested. This fun, rocking classic is from Roger's 1984 album, In the Eye of the Storm, which was called "the lost Supertramp album" by one music journalist. Roger's utmost mastery of songwriting and vocals very brightly glows on this release. He periodically performs several other songs in concert from the album such as In Jeopardy, Only Because of You, and Lovers in the Wind. This spectacular album is available directly from the artist through Roger's store at www.RogerHodgso.... You may also download it from iTunes at itunes.apple.c....
See Roger live in concert. He is currently on tour performing shows with full band, symphony orchestra, and solo and selling out shows around the world. Every concert is a powerful emotional journey and his passion for his music and his art shines through in the magic and intimacy that is felt by the audience. We invite you to come to a show and see why each and every one of Roger's concerts receives spectacular reviews from media and fans alike. Right up their with Roger Waters/Pink Floyd. Both tried to wake up the masses to what is really going on. Most seemed not interested. Why they are in the big ruling class created life and death mess they are today!

When I first heard this song I thought it would easily be a number one hit. It was maddening how little play it got on radio and I could only guess that it had to do with it's length, over 9 minutes long or maybe it had to do with his break from Supertramp. Either way, the cheap bastard that I am, I went and bought the album so I could listen to it over and over again. a few years ago I searched again for a live version but once again there mysteriously wasn't one. In my opinion, this song was vastly underrated.

Eye of the Storm in general is underrated. Although it is a bit too 80s for some people I think. I Had A Dream doesn't have that 80's feel though.

I’m glad someone is still creating and playing this kind of music. It has meaning. It’s not all about the shit modern songs are about. And, here’s the big part, it’s using REAL INSTRUMENTS!! Not just some midi drums or garage band or something like that!

Saw Roger in Clearwater, Florida. We drove nine hours for the show. He did a quiz of who'd traveled the farthest... of course, there was someone from 'across the pond' who beat us out.... though I'm sure they weren't expressly there to see him, as we were. One of my fondest memories; a great show!

I had the pleasure, no, the honour to see Supertramp live in Sydney Australia during the 'Crisis, What Crisis' tour. I was amazed then at the quality and entertainment value of their live performance. I was also fortunate many years later to see Roger Hodgson live in this band configuration and in a much smaller, more intimate theatre. Each song was introduced by Roger with the background to the story, then they blew us away with an impeccable performance, just like these videos. A very pleasant and lasting memory.

In my opinion, he is also underrated as a musician/composer, Supertramp was not much taken as a "serious" band. My favourite Roger solo is in Just another nervous wreck (Breakfast in America). I also like the Goodbye Stranger coda. A perfect match to Davies, another underrated musician enormous ly talented.

BRAVO BRAVO BRAVO GUYS! The energy that comes out of that jam and harmonics closer to the end is just laced with raw high level vibrations! What a great state of being to be in for the performers and listeners! 🎁 Nicola tesla said we will learn more when studying consiousness in 10 years than in all of history combined. He also said, “if YOU want to know the secrets of the universe u have to think in terms of energy frequency and vibration” there’s 2, low and high, low is disorderly and is the cause of multi levels of mental illness, which in turn wreaks havoc on the body, high is love and goodness and really the way this short existence needs to be lived! I just look at how far I’ve come to get to this point and if i can’t love myself for that reason alone then im missing the point. Same goes for YOU! Seek out the goodness, it’s everywhere when you’re looking! ❤ Roger and CO! oh how i wish to see you again one day and if not this is the next best gift! Thank you! Sending love and blessings to all!❤

This, is greatness. Roger is a beautiful soul indeed. The dislikes must have come from Rick Davies (before anyone gets upset, Rick's awesome too). I was sixteen and living in South Florida when Roger's 1st solo effort arrived back in '83, later it inspired me to write a rather lengthy letter to him at his studio (I was still learning guitar and piano then). Just a sincere thank you for the album, and his previous works. I received a Christmas card from him that year, and it meant the world to me.

I heard this song one time on the radio in the mid 80's when I was on a road trip with my cousins to the Twin Cities. I didn't know who was singing it or the song title; but I knew I liked it and thought I'd hear it on the radio again; I never did. However for some reason I never forgot about it in all these 36 years I always remembered I once like a song that had the line "sleeping with the enemy" in it. When you tube came along I searched for it but all that came up was the Julia Roberts movie until this last search and behold THIS IS IT!! After 36 years this is that song I never could quite forget.

Most people walking around right now are deeply embedded in a mystery religion that they don't even realize is a belief system. It's wild stuff but people will think your completely insane if you mention it to them so it's best to not tell them.
