the build I had for my first 32 heat clear was Demeter fists with dyonisus attack and Aphrodite special w the duo boon. You for sure get all 8 poisons on the foe and the Aphrodite special is the chunkiest in the game. Worked amazing for me

I really love gilgamesh special with doom from ares, because the doom gets affected with +25% dmg. If you take delay dmg on the dooms and a good base boon, it gets pretty strong very fast. You can hit and run for 700+ dmg. I paired that with the draining cutter and the doom effect from special also healed you back if it killed! I got the maimed claws and it got even more insane, pretty cool run I had there.

My favourite build for the Fists: Aspect of Talos -> Divine Strike, Curse of Pain, Athena/Aphrodite/Artemis Dash, Dot Call (Demeter or Dionysos), Long/Rolling Knuckle and Breaching Cross Hammers and the Merciful End Duo Boon. If you can get Blinding Flash additionally, even better. This Build is so much fun. It really ramps up uses all elements of the Mirror as well as the Weapon's. It might be a boring Power build without the flavour of playing pinball or blowing people sky-high with Demeter, but when you get this build running, it is soooo satisfying. What I like about that build additionally is, that you are not forced to have every single part to make it viable. You can gradually build it up, almost in every order and you never feel too underpowered.

A favorite Gilgamesh build of mine that I've been enjoying a lot is a blade rift focused setup using Ares and Artemis. Equip Gods' Legacy, start with Ares' cast (I personally like to utilize Stygian Soul for this build, though it isn't absolutely necessary), then strive for Hunting Blades duo (opting for Artemis's attack boon when you first encounter her). From there aim for Ares/Artemis/Hermes legendaries. Icing on the cake if you can pick up Mirage Shot/Heart Rend/Ares' call/Chaos cast charges as well (in the case of Heart Rend, I strongly recommend putting Aphro on the special slot for obvious reasons). As for hammers, the Gil exclusive is a no-brainer of course if you manage to come across it, but other than that just go for the usual suspects (breaching cross, explosive upper, etc.). And there you have it. From a dash distance toss out your rifts, immediately dash-upper to maim, then proceed to either wail on the poor sap with your attack or dash back out as needed. Rinse and repeat. If you have Ares' call you can throw that in as well for some insane bonus destruction with no risk of being punished by the enemy's extra damage (you can achieve a similar result with either Athena's or Hades' call, though Ares' is preferable I would say because of the synergy it has with his legendary and other BR boon buffs that you should be shooting for). A bit of a glass cannon style, but it's really fun and I've personally experienced consistent success with it, including multiple escapes at 20 heat (with EM4). Give it a go if you're interested!

The hammer upgrades are often not what they advertise and after some bad experiences on my first few runs I ended up actually avoiding hammer rooms because I didn't want my builds to be ruined. It's great to actually know what the upgrades do and be able to pick the ones that actually enhance what you have.

Hey don't know if anyone has said this yet but on the switch release, Rush Kick does affect the Dash Special. The difference is that a regular special is 2 hits with lots of end lag and the dash special is a single hit with less end lag. However, the dash upper seems to have a weird auto-tracking that is hard to control. So if you are doing a dash special and you are too far away from an enemy or didn't dash in the right direction, the actual kick will completely take control of where you go in order for it to land. Which for bosses can be a problem since you may misinput and suddenly you are face to face with one of their big attacks and all you can do is sit there because the end lag is still longer than the standard dash special.

Flying Cutter is amazing on Aspect of Demeter. The charge applies to all the bonus hits so it technically has 6x scaling & the bonus range makes it really easy to hit multiple enemies with the special. Have killed multiple Hydra heads with a single charged special One important note, is you don't want to Dash special with it, because the Demeter bonus hits can't be charged on the dash special, they just come out immediately

Oh man, I just did Demeter fists with Kinetic Cutter and Poseidon special. If you pin something up against a wall, it does CRAZY slam damage. Even with no crit, it also does such great damage against bosses who aren't knocked back.

Nice video. I might also add that there's certain combos that can make the Fist that some much stronger Merciful End Duo with Ares Attack, Athena Special and Dash - no explanations needed, this combo has been repeatedly nerfed and yet is still strong. I must note that unlike most other Duos, this is one is a bit more annoying to be useful due to requiring three standalone boons to be even be considered. Dio Attack with Ares/Aphro/Artemis Special and Aphro/Artemis Cast - Fists attacks fast and helps to stack Hangover, and all of Dio's Hangover Duos (Curse of Nausea, Low Tolerance and Splitting Headache) are fairly easy to get and you can mix and match to your hearts content.

I really like the combo of quake cutter and draining cutter for Talos with Athena special. It feels very safe, you can pull enemies in, then land and deal massive AOE damage, all while deflecting with Athena, and healing for each kill. It probably works better at low heat than high heat (I'm only around 10 right now) but it does feel good. For the attack on that build I like Aphrodite, but I do want to try some configuration of athena/ares with their duo boon.

I use Gilgamesh a lots though and I have some tips for it: You don't have to use Maim in room except for bosses where you can fight for a lengthy amount of time. 4 seconds until the main explode are more than the time it requires you to kill stuff. And yea, maim on companion is like instant next phase. You can hold attack and dash at the same time (square cross on PS button) so you can dash attack multiple times in a row at very high speed and the amount of time you can do that depends on how many dash you get. If you want to stop dashing, just release X and keep holding attack. You can clear room super fast with it too. It allows gilgamesh to be able to do dash effect/on hit build as competitive as other as aspect. I have an entire video covered that if you want to see how it works (my only video about Hades). The dash strike get reduced damage for sure but it is still higher damage than other fist attack. Of all of them Gilgamesh is my favorite xD

i do the same, with athena dash you just get 4 seconds of pseudo-invulnerability passing through mobs and applying dio/zeus/whatever extremely fast. Rolling knuckles is mad with this

I find Flying Cutter to be a pretty good hammer if you can get Divine Flourish. When your special is charged up it will be able to deflect in a big AoE that can give you a lot of safety and damage reflection.

I've been doing a lot of runs with the fists and this pretty much sums up my experience. I've actually really been liking Demeter on the attack for that super fast chill buildup. Poseidon on Demeter special seems to be iffy for me as I'm never sure when I'm using it on enemies that can be knocked back if I'm actually hitting with all 7 hits or just 1 or 2 but you could argue that it makes up for that vs bosses if you get wave pounding. I definitely think fists are one of the weapons where you have to be the most mindful of what boons you take because a lot of boons just make the run impossible or very difficult to complete (I remember early on taking tidal dash with fists and the entire run being a nightmare).

Hard Labor, Forced Overtime, and Extreme Measures all help - start with Zeus on something (attack is fine) then seek out Aphrodite's call. you want Smoldering Air and other God Gauge boons. - Maim everything, Charm as much as possible. enemies deal tons of damage and take more too. from there you can focus exclusively on defensive or utility options and let the enemies do the damage.

even more notes: - the same principles apply to enemy damage that you Deflect. Athena dash takes the build over the top. or you can just do Athena if you think the Charm stuff is too meme-y - Poms on Aphrodite's Aid always increase the duration of the Charm by +1 sec, it doesn't degrade. you can really start to mind control entire rooms with a high-level Aid - Theseus will use his phase transition nukes on Asterius lol

Incorporated Draining Cutter into a high survival build, albeit low heat. Talos + Draining Cutter + Nourished Soul. Even at common, the 30% heal increase seems to tip rounding over to 3hp/kill. Added in several % increase Flourish boons, and I was cutting through Satyr Tunnels with constant full health.

Rush Kick for Demeter feels super good. You end up with 7 hits for 40 = 280 base damage on a long-ranged move when you're charged up. That's the equivalent of more than 3 Chiron volleys. Shreds hydra heads, chunks other bosses.

I pretty new to hades still so checking things out. I have to say i did have a stupidly fun run where i got Dementer while using aspect of talos for the fist and took the special. It chills so enemies get slower quick while i bringing them over. I gotten the quake landing later so i started to spam my special as chill made them too slow to attack after awhile, especially since quake landing staggers them too. Hermes came in not long afterwards after i had just upgraded the special boon to heroic and let me have 20% faster special use and said "welp, I win now". There a few other pickups used, but they were all to ensure special did more dmg. i could stand still and just keep hitting the special and it was going fast. 10 chill stacks made bosses just stand there and take it for so long. I didn't even use my attack at all. I think that a great way to use the magnetic cutter cause I could pick out a target, bringing them to me and end it in 1-3 seconds and bring the next. I don't think I'll ever see that amazing setup again, cause that was pretty lucky. it the only time that despite messing around in chambers not doing anything, i still managed under 30 minutes to win a run. I'm usually the type of person to go 40-50 mins in a run.

Holding down attack + dash spams the dash strike. If you dump into its attack damage and throw in an athena dash it becomes a really nice tanky berserker build. Hangover and support fire works great to supplement

It's worth noting the special speed boon from Hermes does work on dash-upper, and it's actually pretty amazing with Explosive Upper.

Flying cutter is best combined with Demeter aspect and Artemis special. It deals more damage than Explosive upper and charges really fast, the only thing you need to work is proper direction and position. Also I take Athena for perma-deflect attack granting extra safety while you charge the special.

I'd say the best build I've gotten for fists is something I like to the call the "Lawnmower", basically gilgamesh with Ares Atk + Athena Dash + Merciful End. Then you just hold down dash and attack button and swipe around the room. This does mean you have to get Athena on special, but you shouldn't be using it anyways. For extra damage tho, you're gonna wanna try to grab Athena's curse, but it's also pretty important to grab Impending Doom, so you can augment Doom damage in two different ways with poms. Everything extra (hammers, Arty-PP-crits, DEF boons) is just sauce.

Flying cutter+quake cutter works fine together: when you rush with flying cutter your quake cutter will be apply faster and its really easier to make it works and deal some good damage. you can dash behind an ennemi and both damage will proc and you can go away with your dash. (maim needs to be apply at low range, it's sad)

Draining cutter is CLUTCH in Styx when you fight those little rats. You can almost full heal from 1 room. Concentrated knuckle is amazing IMO - it doesn't persist after the combo and dash-strikes break the stack, but even then if you only hit 3 times in a row - its 33% BASE damage increase. If you hit 4 times - its 50% more base damage (that's more of a difference then between NO BOON and Artemis attack). And if you make a full 5-hit combo - its a 67% bonus damage (about as big of an impact as adding Concentrated Volley to Chiron bow)

As for boons I feel like Athena's attack is MILES ahead of everything else you can do with fists. It adds so much defensive potential! Plus expose/chaos' backstab/athena&artemis duo + concentrated cnuckle + heart rend(passion dash to apply weak) and you can literally see 1k+ crits on Gilgamesh. That's some serious back scratching for the dad right there. :)

Hi Haelian! Great Vid! Just wanted to let you know that personally I feel like the music in the video is a bit too loud in my opinion and it is making it a bit harder to listen and focus on your voice. Anyway.. This series helped me expand my horizon and try out new hammers and boons and just play differently with my weapons and I just wanted to say that since I haven't been able to unlock Gilgamesh yet but for now I think that Talos fists are the best in my opinion cuz it kind of just helps you close that distance between enemies just much more efficiently and you don't have to rely on your cast to hit enemies fro afar or if the flying enemies go off the map like in Elysium sometimes, the special is also really nice for damage control heat since it hits multiple times. I had a really great build going on with Talos fists with Aphro Attack and Ares special also with their Duo boon. It was really easy to just pull foes to me, applying Doom, getting rid of the 2 damage control health bars and then hitting them with my Attack to apply Weak on them as well so they keep taking Doom damage constantly. Empty Inside and Impending Doom work very nicely in my opinion with this build. I encourage to try it out if you haven't.

The best part about rush kick is how far you can pull it off. You can FLY across rooms between enemies to minimize your downtime between kills with attacks. It works best imo as an opener with something like Heartbreak Flourish or Divine Flourish + Blinding Flash. It ain't a top pick but it can speed you up all the same if the other hammers offered aren't that good.

Great video! I find myself agreeing with you a lot. However, I did want to say (maybe to spark a discussion) that I find you slightly undervalue Hammers like Draining Cutter, Flying Cutter or Rush Kick. Yes, I do agree that builduing for only the special on the fists doesn't usually work out too well, but I do think these hammers still help a lot since, even when I focus on the attack, I still use my special a lot for utility (maybe not with Aspect of Zagreus, that's a bit of an exception here), so the hammers still do a lot there. Sure, you could argue that, since you're going for the attack anyway, that you should go in an focus on things like Long Knuckle, but I find that to not always be possible and in the end, at least imo, it will mainly depend on your boons wheter or not your Fist build works out. In general, I think all the hammers are good (like you mentioned), but none of them are truly necessary for a good build. They are more complementary compared to other weapons.

I know it’s been awhile and someone has probably mentioned this, but just in case they haven’t, the maim effect on Gilgamesh counts as 1 of the 2 curses you need to activate PS. This means you can still get the massive damage buff with more build diversity which can be pretty fun.

Aspect of Demeter plus the charged Special is absolute insanity Got it with Artemis on the special, a fully charged Special with the +5 hits is strong enough to chunk around 25% health of most bosses, and that's the special alone, not counting cast, attack, and call damage

My favorite part about Aspect of Gilgamesh is that the dash strikes (while low damage) can chain in the same way the dashes do. This opens up interesting builds, such as Zeus or Dionysus Attack, as you are throwing out a series of very rapid hits constantly. Incredibly simple to proc Privileged Status as well by applying a status curse with dash and attack. Personally, I found that to be more effective than trying to make the basic attack work. Sure, it hits three times as hard as the dash strike, but it's slow and lacks synergy with what you want to be doing with Gilgamesh, which is dashing constantly.

Ares Special (+delayed activation) with Dionysus Attack (+anything to increase DOT) is basically GG with AOG. Athena and Hermes dash buffs mean you dash-special to activate maim and doom, then pop a bunch of hangover stacks, then dash away. When I got the AOG-specific hammer for 25% damage, my doom was popping for 1100 dmg, plus the 400+ maim, and whatever was left was taken care of by hangover. Simply dominating.

Just did a run Aspect of Zagreus on fists, hermes keepsake, hermes dodge chances + extra dashes, ruthless reflex, aphro special + dio attack for privileged status, add Athena dash and sturdy hammer and you can just facetank without giving a single fuck, all while dealing quite potent damage, especially if you get aphro dio duo. So much fun, I love this game!

I think fists are probably one of the easiest weapons to have priveledged status up all the time, any curse on your attack, and another on your dash = ez mode

Divine Dash with Blinding Flash is an amazing beginner curse status for pretty much any fist build, especially when running Privileged Status like you said. I'm personally all about Athena/Ares/Aphro for Att/Spc/Dash respectively on the Aspect of Talos, which I use with Ruthless Reflex, as you can often dodge stuff just moving around while deflecting almost everything else with your attack. I think the general consensus is that Divine Strike is just absolutely busted on fists, and even more so for Blinding Flash builds. If you can get Merciful End or Parting Shot, well... big oof for everyone involved, ya know, except for YOU.

I think if you can get merciful end on Gilgamesh, having ares on attack and athena dash can put out a ton of damage, especially with main which still combos well with doom damage. The dash attacks are fast and the extra dashes mean you can get out a ton of merciful ends really fast, and the low base damage of the dash attack doesn't matter

I'd say Concentrated Knuckle with Athena's Aid or Greater Aid is probably the move you wanna pull. You're essentially untouchable and it allows you to just stand in front of the enemy and spam attack for as long as the aid is active. I recon Dionysus', Aphrodite's and Demeter's attack boon would go great with that. One to inflict big hangover numbers, the other for raw damage output and Demeter for slow and decay which if you manage to procc is probably the best if both worlds

Re- the rush kick, it absolutely becomes an advancing kick and is an amazing way to extend your range/dashes. On Gilgamesh it is AMAZING since it has an extended hit box and can apply maim a lot more easily to a group of enemies.

I think my favorite boons with fists are Hades Blade rifts both dash and cast and continuously spawn them, have my normal with Artemus to get crit as well as her one boon that summons tracking arrows the more damage you do and using Demeter’s god guage cause I think it’s very useful.

I found a way to make Quake Cutter work amazingly well with Aspect of Talos. Get Artemis' special and it will crit on the uppercut and the AOE when he lands. I was seeing huge crits with this and you can just spam the special which fucks everything up around you. Try it!

I just "beat" the game using your beginner's build guide with the rail aspect of eris. In fact its the only weapon aspect I have unlocked and spent all my meager titan blood reserves to upgrade lol. Now Im trying to finish runs with other weapons and I am kinda struggling, especially with the melee weapons, and especially with the fists. Its much less safe since you have to get so close, and the attacks are also more focused on single enemies, where most of the game is against a shitton of mobs. Just got absolutely demolished by the circle of witches. The fact that I took poseidon on the special and had no athena dash to deflect did not help...the witches were just standing in lava so I couldn't even get to them without taking damage lmao

use demeter on the attack to slow enemies, it makes dodging far easier especially against bosses

Idk if this is new knowledge and I'm not 100% sure yet but Aphrodite's sweet surrender might increase the maim burst damage from Gilgamesh.

Back when I started playing Talos fists I always went for Poseidon Special, it just felt so good to pull enemies in and then slam them into walls

I had a really insane run with Talos Drain Cutter, Quake cutter, some debuffs, deadly flourish, and Swift Flourish the 30% faster special The result is you get the quake during the special animation not after your pulling stuff into the quake the quake counts for the crit and the heals so you basically just punch for debuffs and then smash face with quakes hitting for massive numbers and healing you for any chip damage from those animations

I love the draining cutter with aspect of Talos. Combine that with Artemis' crit buff for the special or some other big damage boon. Dash upper can clear small mobs like it's nothing and I've left from mini-boss and boss rooms at like 3 HP and was full after the next encounter because of that combo

The range on Aspect of Talos' magnetic thing is actually insane, btw, you can pull things in from halfway across most game tiles.

Aphrodite quake cutter on magnetic pull special + icy blades cast. you throw out your casts, pull them in & now they are slowed + weakened and you slam back down to finish them off. works great on mobs, need to mix attacks on the bosses though.

Draining cutter definitely has its place, especially with Aspect of Talos. You can use it on Numbskulls, Flamewheels, or any other enemy that dies in one hit. Just make sure to dodge after using Special if you're pulling a Flamewheel lol

Also, Rush Kick is actually really good as a pseudodash, especially if you take Ruthless Reflex like I often do.

there’s a lot of hidden mechanics that the wiki doesn’t even seem to have information on. would be awesome if you could cover some of the more advanced mechanics for instance: does dodge stack multiplicity does the 25% extra maim on the hammer stack additively? how does demeter work with flying kick? 10 attacks or? does zeus boon or similar hit 5 times when using demeter special?

Aspect of Gilgamesh is probably my favorite going Dash Strike crit build ideally with Artemis Attack, Aphrodite special, Athena Dash and Artemis cast, Call I tend to go with whatever I need to get a duo boon , sinds their Duo boons benefit the build as well

Breaching cross still does tons of damage with gilgamesh. +900% is the same as times 10, so each dash strike does 200 damage. Thats 800 for one dash chain, or 600 with ruthless reflex. Keep in mind that even that is base damage, you could have boons boosting your attack, and maim would also be good.

I wish I recorded the one run where I had quake cutter with Gilgamesh because I feel it would change your perspective on this. It makes the special infinitely more spammable. I basically just stopped dashing altogether and would just special around a room. You're still moving so you don't get hit super often. I had Artmemis boons on my special, clean kill, and hunter's mark, and I melted everything. Probably my fastest Hades kill as well outside of 5 rocket spread rail with crit boons.

I'm a little surprised that you recommended % increase boons for Aspect of Zag attacks. Isn't flat damage like Zeus or Dionysus better for rapid attack weapons like fist or railgun?

Luckily for the fists, everything works pretty well. Big reason to suggest the percent boons is because the hammers pair better with those (they also add % damage most of the time)

I like throwing Aphrodite on the Special for Gilgamesh since weak can help to offset some of the buff maim can give to enemies. From there I tend to favor a Heart Rend build.

If you have heartbreak flourish on Special, you can simultaneously cause Maim as well as mitigate a lot of the bonus damage from it with one button. I prefer to put it on my attack or dash though and have Doom on special. You just hit everything in the room and dash around for a few seconds and everything dies.

My favorite build in the entire game is definitely a Gilgamesh, Poseidon+Zeus build, with Sea Storm and the double knockback and lightning strike legendaries. Dash-Upper for the maim then just dash around dealing a bunch of damage while maintaining i-frames.

I think poseidon special actually doesn't work so great with demeter aspect. I've noticed that because it hits several times, enemies will get pushed out of your special before getting hit by all 5 hits. It's fine for bosses but it gets annoying for normal enemies and some minibosses.

Probably melts enemies in the small rooms on the last floor though. Not optimal to build only for the last floor of course but probs still pretty satisfying to pinball those douchebag satyrs.

Talos was my favorite fist I kinda feel now it's damage isn't that great because of the special buff after this video I think demeter is probably the best one overall and then zag and talos are tied

It Is! I literally just uploaded an EM4 dry run with it. It helps a lot to have Athena or Poseidon call to safely get in close when fighting dad. Poseidon call vacuum cleaner also murks rooms, but didn't get it this run. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qGfRY4WZeM2gY9k
