Silver carp is hard to beat, but I’ve had days where drum was all they’d eat. Great video

I tended to use corn when the carp are spawning for channel catfish. Because carp eggs are yellow and channel cats feast on them.

I like strawberry jello chicken lately. Where i am the channel cats wear that stuff out

Can you bump with plainer boards ? Or can you use plainer boards effectively while slipping backwards with the current ?
@hagengrubbsfishing2 жыл бұрын
I haven’t done it myself but Chris souders here on KZbin has some videos of how he uses planer boards to suspend baits while he is bumping. Thank you for watching👍

I let the boat drift at the speed of the current and use the gps on my fish finder. Thanks for watching 👍

I think when you said the sliver carp were spawning , you may have hit on something. The catfish could be keying on the carp spawn. Big numbers of them mean’s easy pickens. Great videos. Good luck Fishing guys

I really try to watch the video all the way before I comment or like it that way I know I like what I'm watching because if you like it off the bat then something could happen that you don't see that you don't agree with but in your channel that's not the case I can like it without watching it even though I don't do that I watch them all the way through what I mean is you have great content and I love how educational and information it is keep it up brother I look forward to seeing Landon make his own show or channel on KZbin

Did you see where the new WV state record blue cat was caught on the Ohio River. Old record was broke and a week later that record was broken. Can't remember the size but I'm thinking 50 inches long and 67 pounds

Thanks for the tips. In my own locale, I've resorted to using skip-jack. I tried all the store bought methods, and I've tried live bluegill, but discovered if I catch the bluegill in my pond and hit the Coosa, I don't catch squat. The last time I used frozen skip jack I snagged a big 8lbs striped bass bumping. I'm going in a couple of days below a rocky dam, and I'll be catching fresh skip jack, fresh bluegill, and using that. Once I find some fresh shad I'll try that, but the shad are up in the slews now. None near the docks, boat ramps. I keep watching folks pull in empty nets, so I am sticking to what I know. I also tried Drum with no luck. Fishing in central Alabama btw and the water has been bouncing around 76°F

I used to fish the Coosa when I was stationed in Anniston. If you can catch suckers in the creeks that was the cutbait I caught most of my Blues on. Cut Buffalo was 2nd best. Cut Shad and frozen skip jack was 3rd. I caught most of my Flatheads on bass until I found out they were illegal to use, then just settled on live bluegills. I did very well with them but I always had to suspended them 3-5' off the bottom. Never caught any on bottom with livebait there.
@mauser85152 жыл бұрын
@@ramonbrown8361 thank you for the tips. I fished Jordan Dam yesterday and got my personal best blue on fresh skip jack. Using a 7/0 circle hook and cutting the bait about an inch wide. When I cut it larger I wasn't catching anything. I was fishing rocky bottoms near a rocky cliff that was under Cut. I'm going back Thursday evening , and will put in the work for bluegill and suspend like you say throughout the night.

Friday night on the river I was using pretty good size hunks of shad wasn't getting anything, so I changed it up. Filet off one side of shad and cut tail off. Immediately got a 15 to 20 pound blue.

Hard to believe that fish can be that picky, but they are. I've had it happen also. On a side note what size of crane swivel do you use?
@hagengrubbsfishing2 жыл бұрын
I can’t remember the size but I usually go by the pound test rating. I think mine are like 110lbs or something. I’ve never had one break. Thank you for watching👍

Don't sleep on silver carp you can always get them fresh pretty easy. My favorite thing about fishing with carp is its so tough if you get a good bite and no hookup you don't have to reel up and check bait ...it's still there ..baitstealer denied
