Honestly, the more times I rewatch this anime, the more convinced I am that Noya is the coolest character, he's got serious aura! And I definitely agree with him that liberos are awesome! In Haikyuu, it's actually very easy to see if setters are doing crazy things, since they slow it down for us and explain, but I usually can't even tell who's the setter when I'm watching a real game, unless I really pay attention. And spikers are obviously really cool too, but big saves are definitely what hype me up the most! It's the flashiest thing and you don't need any technical knowledge to recognize how awesome it was, it's obvious to anyone even if they don't know much about volleyball. Also, libero as a word just feels so satisfying to say too, doesn't it? Also, I'd just like to point out how cute the boys' relationship with Takeda-sensei is. He's their teacher, so he's above them both in age and position, and especially in a country like Japan that's a big deal, so they should talk to him respectfully, but you can sometimes hear Tanaka calling him "Take-chan" which is an extremely casual nickname and normally you wouldn't even dream of ever saying that to your teacher, so it really shows how close they are, and how comfortable they feel around him. Of course they respect him and rely on him, but he's also a friend and I think it's so wholesome.

Yuki Hayashi (Haikyuu, MHA, Wistoria) is the Alan Silvestri in anime music. As Hiroyuki Sawano (AOT, 86) is the japanese Hans Zimmer of music score.

Ah! I think this is your first encounter with a specific anime trope: in Japan, there's a superstitious belief that if you sneeze out of nowhere it's because someone, somewhere is talking about you. So in anime, cutting to the person someone is talking about and having them sneeze is a well-worn joke. Personally, I think it's still funny EVERY TIME. lol I love it.

What's great about this vs AoT (I love that Lola calls Tanaka Connie, my 9 year old does too) is that the world isn't at stake like in AoT, but the stakes in a piece of fiction are as high as the characters decide they are. Great writing like in these two very different masterpieces tends to take care of our suspension of disbelief very quickly in that regard. I guess they are pretty similar in some big ways like the loyalty among our main group of friends and teammates/comrades, and both stories dissolve the idea of "enemy" in favor of "opponent".

Every name in Haikyu is very well thought out. Many team names include an animal that would somehow compete against a crow/raven. Names of characters also have meaning. I think somebody mentioned in an earlier episode that Hinata means "sunlight" and Kageyama means "shadow mountain" and Tsukishima means "moon island", so both Kageyama and Tsuki are contrasts to Hinata. Asahi's last name, Azumane, means "east summit" while Nishinoya means "west valley" to show how they are opposite of each other, by position and by nature.

If you actively put your mind and memory to it, its easy to remember their names 😂 After like 15 episodes I could say all of their full name and nicknames, even for their manager

The first time in quite some time it actually hurts to wait for the next episode of a reaction series...this combination is perfection.

It's not really important, but it's the original author's playfulness. Libero's "Nishinoya" means "west valley". "Yu" means "sunset". Spiker's "Azumane" means "east peak". "Asahi" means "morning sun". Like Hinata and Kageyama, the names Nishinoya and Asahi are also paired. Crows and cats in Japan are typical animals that destroy garbage dumps. Japanese crows are very intelligent and strong enough to sometimes attack humans. This sentence is translated by an application.

The black school uniforms they wear are called GAKURAN, and are nothing special, but are a standard for public high schools in Japan, although private high schools tend to have their own uniforms instead.
