But against kamomedai when I read it the manga, in the second set I was like nah I think my heart is supporting kamomedai more than karasuno. Hoshiumi won my heart, what a player. Gosh. The ending discussion was so frustrating to listen to 😭 I get that its been years since you guys watched haikyuu but I think a quick reminder would have cut the discussion in half. Cause There were plenty of teams Karasuno went up against, that "trash talked" and had "tension". Like Aoba Johsai (AKA Seijoh, the team with Oikawa) or Shiratorizawa (the team with Ushijima) Those matches that Rob wanted?? had already happened!! Haikyuu has already done what Rob was yearning for!! ___________________ When ONE match that was CLEARLY suppose to be a different energy than those previous matches. Didnt match Rob's expectations for sports anime suddenly it's reduced to "disney".

0:56 Hinata have the rights to assume and to think that kenma won't care if they lose, kenma have always been like that since their first meet up and nothing is different kenma treats volleyball just like any other games/video games he plays and if he lost that's that nothing to crazy about. But still hinata said to kenma that he will still make kenma feel a emotion in a type of way and when finally that happens hinata is super duper crazy happy with a lot of screaming not just one loud scream but continuous and that's my most favourite moment in this movie. Kenma and Hinata are my most favourite character in this series

Yeah this match was purely meant to show their passion for Volleyball, Rob is right that there technically wasn't actual "tension" but also it's perfectly realistic for two teams who "grew" together to really enjoy a game regardless of who'd win or lose. Even at the end when Hinata didn't realize the game ended, he clearly didn't care too much about the score because he wanted to keep playing

I think the kind of rivalry you're talking about is like two schools that have been rivals for decades and when the players are on the field, maybe 4-5 know each other from social media but nothing very deep You have to understand that here it is veeeery different. They spent a whole week or so together, trained together, helped each other AND probably kept contacts afterward. They are FRIENDS playing against each other before being rivals (don't get me wrong, they still are, but its not just that). So yeah, the tension is not that heavy because of that. Plus it could also be a cultural thing. I play football (US football, not "soccer") in France and I have been in National team camps with players from other teams. I am the kind of guy who is very serious, do not talk when I play but I still found myself "joking" on the field when I encountered one of my homies from the camps on the field.
