Did you become iron deficient by not eating? Like eating one meal a day? I did that for several months, lost tons of weight (but I was never big) and my edges started to thin and still are (it's been a year.
@DeniseAdore
@DeniseAdore 4 жыл бұрын
Xidiga no I was eating and still about 5 times a day I just wasn’t eating foods with an high enough iron content. I had also switched to a different multivitamin thinking it was better not realizing it didn’t have iron in it. When I switched back to my old vitamin that does have iron that eventually helped. Also started cooking in cast iron skillets which helped as well.

I feel that regular screening for vitamin D deficiency should be standard especially for people with darker skin tones since we are most likely to suffer from this. In most cases only iron levels are tested unless otherwise requested and most every day people don't know to have their PCP test these levels. I had to have my mom tested because of symptoms outside of hair issues that suggested that she may have a deficiency and of course she did. I myself also had one and am very diligent with reminding my doctor to test on a regular basis to see where my levels are at.

Consistency is the key, I can speak from experience I have way better results when I'm consistent with my routine. I didn't start seeing results with retention until I became consistent, everyone listening needs to have that as the take away if nothing else. Thank you girl! ❤🙏🏼 My hair retained so much length because of your videos that I started watching in 2018. Thank you so much for your tips! And especially a big thanks to you for mentioning Diet... not many natural hair youtubers mention it. 🙏🏼
@TriggaTreDay
@TriggaTreDay 4 жыл бұрын
Tansie Stephens yeah they don’t mention diet really. Unfortunately I had to learn the hard way that intermittent fasting will kill the progression of your hair growth, especially if you are not keeping up on your vitamins and eating enough food when you are supposed to. I was only doing 1meal a day and not eating enough food to supplement at least 2 meals. My hair has been the same length for 3 years now and it breaks and sheds more now than it ever has 🤦🏾‍♀️.

Thanks for this video!!! I very rarely see a video about how important a healthy diet contributes to healthy hair. I’m 54 yo and I’ve made small changes in my eating and have seen and felt( actually touching it) my scalp/ hair become softer, healthier. Two things I do consistently is: drink more water and tea, secondly spraying ACV and Aloe Vera juice mixture on my scalp/ hair.
@TriggaTreDay
@TriggaTreDay 4 жыл бұрын
You are sooo right about number 5. When I stopped being consistent I noticed that my hair wasn’t growing past my tailbone and I have literally been at this length for 3 years now. I know my hair is growing, but it’s also breaking now and shedding like crazy (even though I still have a ton of hair on my head lol. It could be much thicker). And don’t get me started with the moisture struggle 🤦🏾‍♀️.... I never used to have a problem with keeping my hair moisturized, but now it’s one of my biggest issues. Also my diet changed over the last 3 years where I was intermittent fasting, eating only 1 meal a day and I think that’s where my biggest downfall took place. I became very deficient in a lot of vitamins, especially vitamin D. I’m working on all of these things now and have been for a few months now. It’s a challenging transition, but I will do whatever it takes. Girl you definitely know what you are talking about 🙏🏾👌🏾.

Reasons why your hair is not growing: 1.Internal and external factors (diet, health, health conditions, medications, medical conditions, hormonal issues, thyroid issues, Vitamin D deficiency, iron deficiency, B-complex deficiencies, climate.) 2. Your hair's ability to take moisture - Protein/Moisture balance. 3. Styling - Manipulation. Handling hair roughly. Don't overstyle! 4. Night time routine - Not covering your hair at night with a satin bonnet, scarf or lying on a silk pillowcase. 5. Consistency

My main issue has been with being consistent with my hair routine. ❤️ Also, I had to figure out a hair style that is simple with less work for me and my daughters. Twists was not working but braids work the best since I live in a very humid wet environment. Braids keep my hair intact when I wash it or it becomes wet. Whereas, my twists would unravel leading to constant manipulation. Also, I enjoy swimming . I finally cut out most hair products. I now only use henna, natural soap, and oils. But I do use a little Vaseline on my hair ends. I no longer use conditioner (the stuff you buy in stores). For so long I did not realize that my hair did not like conditioner. My hair has become softer the moment I stopped using it. I just had to give my hair time to adjust. Thanks for the video! It is very informative.

Hey sis... Everyone's hair grows daily... I think you meant retaining length? Bcus with out all the things you stated, the hair will break off and thin out making it look like your hair doesn't grow. I am so jelly! I've had long hair my entire life and I just learned how to take care of it in 2k9. I transitioned from bn a chronic press an curl. Styling my dirty hair and using the pressing come sometimes daily. My hair was a hawt mess. Now I just need it to get back to tailbone so I can catch up with you.

So I now part my hair in to two puffs and put on plastic cap then my slap (silk lined cap from Grace Ellayae). It's better, but still dry in the morning. I use water, oils and a deep conditioner every morning. I don't style my hair. I just let it be what it is lol and still at the same length for 5+ years.

I have a question. Since you use aloe Vera and flax seed gel for your hair, how does the hair porosity come into that. I am confused because Aloe Vera and flax seed are the only thing you use on your hair either knowing its porosity or not. So my question is, so do you still have to know you hair porosity as an important factor if you just use Aloe and flax seed gel?
@donnac163
@donnac163 4 жыл бұрын
Gabriella Agyarko yes it’s very important bc knowing your hair porosity lets you know how often you need to do your products. She can use whatever but you have to know how often to add moisture and knowing your porosity will let you know. I hope this helps
@denyshadials5702
@denyshadials5702 4 жыл бұрын
Gabriella Agyarko No it’s not important. Products/ingredients don’t react consistently among everyone hair even when they’re the same porosity. Mainly because all of us have different lifestyles, expectations, and routines for our hair. The only way to know if a product/ingredient is right for you (your lifestyle, expectations and routine), is just to experiment, assess, and make a decision. Be careful not to make this over complicated sis.
@db.digital
@db.digital 4 жыл бұрын
Gabriella, you can also try the porosity test that gives you a better understanding of your hair porosity. All you have to do is place a strand of clean hair (without any products on it) in room temperature water (must be room temperature) and wait 5-7 minutes to see if it floats or sinks. If it floats on top of the water that's low porosity. If it sinks to the middle of the water that's medium/normal porosity, or if it sinks to the very botton that's high porosity. I suggest using 2-3 strands from different parts of your head, since most of us have mixed textures in our hair which could also mean you may have mixed porosity levels as well. That way you can determine how to care for each area effectively. Also just search hair porosity and porosity test on YT for more information. Hope this helps! 😀

How can I have a night routine when I have to be at work 11p-7am?
@jemts5586
@jemts5586 4 жыл бұрын
For most people, a nighttime routine means what they do before bed. So if you work nights and sleep days, then you just flip it around. Think of it as your bedtime routine. :)

@@IndigenousStrandz11 🤗Wow, that's a lot!!! 😤I used to band my buns and ended up experiencing a little breakage in the center area. Now, I use hair pins as per your suggestion and pray it will help with thickening my hair... Thanks for sharing🥰

@@IndigenousStrandz11 I loved your oil layering suggestion and twists under protective styles but I can't seem to deal with my ends. They are sooooooo dry. I recently blow dried my hair and discovered that my new hair growth is much thicker, does it mean I have to cut off the thinner parts?
