Is a big chop necessary for you? Some people do a big chop and it was not necessary. Unless if your hair has been damaged by perms, dyes, too much heat, etc then don't big chop. If you have some length then go from there. When I was growing out my hair the kinky twists worked well for me. 4c hair seems to love twists. Also, stay away from weaves. Very few people actually keep up with hair care when their hair is in a weave. Get rid of heat altogether. Throw out those perms. Also pray ❤

Another tip if you don’t want to wash your hair with hot water, you can rinse your hair with warm or cold water and invest in a steamer. I bought a face steamer off amazon for about $30 and I use it for my hair. While steaming apply your leave in conditioners, moisturizers etc. on the moist hair. It soaks the products up sooooo well! & after your normal wash and conditioning you can plug your steamer up and apply the products while it’s under the steamer and twist up your hair. I swear my hair loves it, but this is advice for my LOW POROSITY HAIR naturals.

I’m high porosity and apparently it’s fairly ok to be. Our hair does tangle easily but any product we put in our hair it benefits from as long as the product isn’t harmful because it drinks it up. Also our hair dries much quicker and we don’t have to sit under dryers for products to penetrate which are also a plus. All we need is a plastic cap and about 15 min because that product penetrated our hair the moment we put it in!!! Hi give to the high po girls🙌🏾. And if you type in high porosity hair care there are naturals that’s will come up who are high po’s. Hope this helps luv☺️

I been trying to figure out this porosity by doing all kinds of test. After seeing your video and doing the strand test. I am mostly low porosity. I always wondered why I can put in layers of moisturizer (LOC) before my hair starts having slippage-this is after a plastic cap and one hour of deep conditioning. All makes sense now.
@pamelamccants28773 жыл бұрын
If your hair is low porosity then it’s best to do the LCO ( liquid,cream,oil) method, not the LOC method. I had to Google it. I started getting better results by doing this and also with low porosity hair you got to deep condition after every shampoo with a plastic cap under heat for 20-30 minutes then rinse with cool water to close pores and lock in moisture. The heat opens up the hair cuticles. High porosity hair cuticles stay open but those of us with low porosity hair have to use heat to open up the hair cuticles after shampooing when deep conditioning. I started doing this and my hair is really thriving. Also, get a shampoo brush which stimulates blood flow to the scalp and encourages hair growth.

I am also curious about sensitive scalp treatments if you have any suggestions. I noticed that my scalp does not like conditioners at all. That's because where they are the hot water has a high content of lead which caused shedding. If you don't have that issue with water I suppose you can use hot.

I think I have low porosity hair because whenever I do a twist out or braid out after washing my hair sometimes I have to wait up to 2 days for my hair to dry completely and for the style to stick (if I don’t use heat to dry it). Like if I unravel it sooner than that it’s still somewhat damp or damp in the middle and once it dries it just shrinks up. That being said, I did the strand test and I felt like little ridges but I could also feel and hear it making like as squeaky noise as I went up the strand. So I’m not sure if I’m actually high porosity or if my hair is just that damaged (it is super damaged btw). Could you maybe give me some advice? I’m really trying to restore my hair because postpartum it has been shedding and breaking like crazy, edges are starting to bald and not from tension, it’s BEYOND dry, my texture even changed so I am honestly having to start my natural hair journey over after 7 years because these last 18 months nothing I know to do works with my hair anymore. I’d greatly appreciate any advice cause I’m desperate at this point.

Is my hair in between porosity? For years I assumed I had low porosity hair because a lot of products sit on my hair unless I apply heat:deep conditioning. But now it seems products absorb into my hair but it doesn’t moisturise it r unless I twist the hair then the hair become soft . My hair absorbs products better and feels softer if I moisturise it when dry. My hair breaks constantly and leaves amount of hair you see on the floor of a barber shop after each detanglingand/styling session Doesn’t like proteins like egg, avocado etc as it makes it hard. I have loose curls but type 4 texture. Left side of head is coily, right side is wavy , front doesn’t curl much I can’t style it because it just tangles. Any idea what type of hair this is because I’m at my wits end with it and very close to just going back to the creamy crack because it’s costing me too much money and time to keep up with my hair.
