I had to come back to this video : it was so so so nice to hear you tell your story, and your father's admiration for hir mom's long hair, and also all what you do with your hair and the reasons why. I really enjoyed it soooo much !! Thank you for sharing ! 😊 I realize that we have a lot in common concerning our way to understand hair beauty, practicality, and low cost too. Less is absolutely more ! The funny thing is that I was thinking of making a hair routine video lately, and when I clicked on yours, it was literally it ! 😄😄 And I loved how you said you didn't understand why not more people have long hair (meaning REALLY long hair, of course). I ask myself the same question, because when I wear mine down (now that it's only about 1-2 inch above classic), I do see that some people wish they had it that long, but for some reason doubt that it is even possible. Or think it is hell to grow out and maintain. The most genuine admirers are little kids (before their mother has taught them "not to look"). They stop playing or running instantly and open wide eyes with a wooooow, look at that lady's haaaaaair !! Or the little girls who approach in group, looking shy, and ask if they can touch it. And then declare they will also grow their own, before their mother arrives like a Karen and shut them up, lol.

I fully agree! Yes, we both have the "less is more" approach to hair care and it shows in the results. Mine is of course too long to wear loose but if it is (rarely) in a ponytail I will get admiring comments and once I was standing at the foot of a medieval tower with my hair in a long braid and a little girl walked past with her mother and the girl pointed at me and said loudly "Look, there's Rapunzel, there's Rapunzel!" Her mother looked at me, and smiled and said, "Yes, that's Rapunzel!" It was so sweet that she was so excited, lol.

Hi Sarah, I used to care about my hair just like you for decades and it is so easy and time saving. With the exception of thinning the shampoo with water and the baby oil. I didn't take more shampoo than you do, but I distributed it on my palms before massaging it onto the scalp, which is with water from the shower not very different from how you do it. And your generation following must be very long, when your grandmother was born around 1880! My grandma was born in 1920 and this was the generation where all women had very short hair, and I don't know my grandma or my mom in any other way than with short hair. I was allowed to let it grow long at 12 only, the bangs to be grown long at 14, but I knew from since I could think that I want long hair for me - and I'm happy I could achieve it, because now I know that this is an unreachable dream for many people. When I was young, I thought, only African people cannot have very long hair, and I thought that most of the other women in my country were just too lazy and less caring to let their hair grow very long. So it is very good to hear, that your father passed such positive memories from your grandma about long hair to you, which I hadn't, but I gathered this just from fairy tales, old sagas and some hair role models in my school with exceptional long hair, but there were very few of them. I think it is very important to pass along the knowledge about long hair care, because many of the hacks from the past are buried under the burden of modern civilization - like so many other things about a simple, yet happy life. May you and your hair prosper for more decades! 😀❤

Thank you! Yes, our family are blessed to live well into their eighties, nineties and on occasion, over a hundred. It seems that many people these days don't know how to grow or care for long hair so thought I would share my own experiences with it, and usually, simple is best! Your own hair looks lovely!

Hello What method do you use to self trim? Your hair and texture is beautiful!

Thanks! I part my hair in two then put it in a ponytail under the point of my chin, then whilst looking towards the ground I slide my fingers down to the ends and trim off a tiny amount. It gives a gentle U shape to my ends.

Do you use any conditioner after you shampoo it. Or any oil treatments.

Yes, I explain it in the video, oiling after the shampoo, then using conditioner or a hair mask.
