@@aldergreen Baking soda is not sodium hydroxide. Baking soda is sodium bicarbonate. Sodium hydroxide is lye. Totally different. Lye is caustic...baking soda is harmless. Baking soda in water won't harm skin. Lye in water will eat the skin. I am going to take a quick moment to tell you thank you for all the good useful advice you give here. I haven't been to the hairdresser for bleach/ color in over a year. The last time I went in my hairdresser bleached my hair with 30volume after I reminded her that we don't use stronger than 20...then she refused to put a toner in (she just put purple shampoo and she was done), then charged me $200. I had wanted a pale golden blonde...and I had almost see thru white hair. I asked you how to repigment my hair and you took the time to respond. I had some banding (when I did the first root touch up) luckily I wear my hair in a short pixie, so I can style it to make it look intentional. After some trial and error, I now have a very nice pale golden blonde (ION 10g). Thanks to you I know how to properly lighten my roots and what to do to keep from having banding after my toner. I truly appreciate what you do and I just wanted to say thank you.

@ALNizhoni Жыл бұрын
It's not about "messing up 2 cm of hair," many of these idiots do things that are DANGEROUS, to themselves and others. The chemicals these morons use, without even opening a window most of the time, cause people to PASS OUT. Lose consciousness. That's not "going for it," that's lunacy on an epic scale. These clowns post this craziness, and then other idiots, like the one on this video, see the craziness and think, 'that's what I'll do!' They endanger themselves and anyone who watches this mess, in addition to causing their hair to fall out (if they're lucky, that's the only damage). In many of these cases, they give themselves *serious* chemical burns over their scalps, faces, and bodies. This is NOTHING to applaud.
@0blivvy8 Жыл бұрын
Honestly, I don't recommend using dish soap or baking soda at all! They're each extremely drying to the hair, especially when combined! I tried it in the past, and all it did was fry my hair, barely removing any color- not worth it! I got more fading from original Head & Shoulders shampoo & hot water. H&S is drying too, but you can safely use it at least a few times a week, just do deep conditioning treatments. It's far less damaging to do a bleach wash, just make sure the developer is a low volume, like 10. As far as the Olaplex, the Sally's brand Ion makes a small bottle of a similar treatment that's made for mixing into the bleach and its only a few dollars. They have their new Bond Bar line of Olaplex dupes as well, each product around $10 with good reviews. I hope she does some bond & conditioning treatments so she can revive her beautiful curl pattern. I think her end result came out pretty cute! Love that color on her!

I'm sorry Hair Buddha, for I have sinned and used baking soda to strip semi-permanent hair colour from my mane. Although I only used baking soda and my regular sulfate-free shampoo for it. It worked for those curious btw. I had put a very deep blue violet dye on my already dark hair (it was lightened to a level 4, so still very dark) and did not dilute it enough, and ended up with black hair that had a tinge of purple in the sun. I was very unhappy with it and it refused to fade, so a month afterwards I tried this method and it did strip a lot of the purple. I did not, however, bleach my hair or do anything aside from using masks and such for the next month, since it did dry out my hair a bit. Now a full month after that procedure, the last 2-3cm still felt dry, so they needed to be trimmed. Baking soda in itself is already harsh enough on the hair (hair is acidic, whereas baking soda is very alcaline, hence why it opens the hair shaft) that you don't need to make it even worse with hydrogen peroxide or dish soap on top of it.
