THANK YOU for mentioning getting curly hair cut with a razor!! My sister-in-law, who's a stylist, raved about how good it was to cut curls with it. So (regrettably) I let her cut mine and you're so right, it was a frizz fest no matter what products or how much I used in it :( so I decided to cut it myself to fix it and now it's all better.

I just got my hair cut a week ago, I had around medium length hair and I asked to cut my hair short around my collar bone, and I asked to have layers to frame my face. (But he didn't cut it that much because the shrinkage) I was scared to see what it looks like wavy/curly (cause I got a blow dry) but when I put product in and let my hair dry wavy/curly … IT WAS AWESOME and so curly/wavy and so much volume!!!!!!! 😍

I have been cutting my hair myself for the past decade. I use a method out of the book, "Haircutting for dummies", it is called a compact cut. You make a ponytail on the top of your forehead (kind of like pineappling) and then cut a piece off. It gives short to long layers. My longest layer is tailbone length, my shortest is armpit to bra strap length. I would not recommend this cut if your hair is shorter than bra to waist length because otherwise you might end up with *very* short layers. It has worked for me for years and I am 2b/c, almost 3a on a good styling day.

I show my stylist pictures of your hair my last few hair cuts and I've loved how it comes out! She also cuts my hair wet and it turns out great. I have short side bangs though and she uses a razor on them some which is fine with me because I blow out my bangs straight.

India, would you ever consider cutting your own hair with the curl by curl method? I have done it twice now (mostly trimming damage and shortening some existing layers) and I have had amazing results! I have zero training in cutting hair beyond some youtube videos by other curlies who have done curl by curl dry cuts. I like it because I can just cut my hair slowly to exactly what I want and I can always go back in a trim anything that looks off later after I've restyled.

I went to a new hair cresser and she's cut my hair about 3 times with a rasor, now it makes so much sense why I'm getting split ends, since I never used to get them, or very very few.

You need layers! Essentially your hair is wavy on the top because the weight of it is weighing it down and pulling out the curls! I recommend layers, I had this same issue and opted for layers a little bit of face shaping and it made all the difference!!!

My hair is elastic at the end, but only in a few places. What causes this? My hair color is exactly like yours so could it be the bleach? Or is it because I have made too many masks and they are too moisturize? 🤷♀️ Thank very much! 💖
@loriep887 жыл бұрын
Dominique Grenier I am a certified hairdresser and it would be caused from the bleach. Your hairdresser may have left it on for too long or may have just applied bleach over that section of hair a couple of times (so every 4-6 weeks he/she has taken it all the way to the ends each time they apply apply colour to your roots) Next time you get your hair coloured just ask your hairdresser to do the roots, you can always apply a toner which is less damaging to the ends of your hair 😊

Lorie Pot Oh wow thank you very much! And what can I do to help my hair? I make moisturizing masks like deep conditioning in the shower twice a week ... Is that enough? 😌

Unfortunately there is no 'cure' to fix this except trimming your hair until it's gone 😢 I've had it happen to me before and just was very conscious not to pull at those hairs too hard as they break off very easily. I ended up just getting a heap cut off.

I'm lucky because my stylist that I go to has wavy/curly hair. Her hair is long and very beautiful and healthy looking. She's never heard of the "curly girl method" but she does know how she wants her curly hair cut and so she is very careful with how she cuts mine and her other curly haired clients as well. I haven't blown dry my hair nor have I used any heat sytling tools on my hair for almost 2 years now. I still have some damaged, dry ends especially from when I used ammonia to dye my hair. I didn't want to cut off all my damaged hair all at once so I've been cutting it off little by little. When I go in for a cut, and non-ammonia color about every 3 months or so, my stylist Joleen cuts off some of the damaged ends off first before she colors my hair. Afterwards she washes the color out, she finishes and cuts the rest of my hair wet. I also get long layers and side bangs. I think having pictures help a great deal, too.

Hi India, I really enjoy your videos. Your content has influenced my hair product purchases and I truly trust your opinions on hair. Since I'm a wavy/curly girl in Australia with similar hair to yours, I have to do a lot of research before I buy online (since there are barely any CG friendly hair products in stores). I would love to request for you to do a product line review of Kinky Curly from the shampoo to the gel. Since a lot of reviews is done by women with C4 hair or 2c/2b written review on the internet, I can't work out if it's right for my hair. So a big pretty please from me xx

I'd like to add to the razor comment. Make sure your stylist doesn't use texturizing shears on your hair either! I am a hair stylist and know that a lot of stylists like to use them at the end of a cut. Don't let them! This will give you frizz extreme!
