But be aware that you don’t always get what you ask for- I asked for 4 inches off, and even showed on my hair the EXACT length I wanted. The apprentice took almost 16 inches off (my hair was hip length). She literally took her scissors and snipped a chunk out. Even the master stylist was shocked. The girl got kicked out of the place and was blacklisted, but the damage was done. The salon went well above and beyond to give me a beautiful layered cut (and my first highlights ever) and did everything in their power to help me grow my hair out over the next 2 years. And as for why that apprentice did what she did? She saw my name and thought I was someone else. There’s another woman with my same name who is a massive a-hole, and this is how I found out that we not only share the same name, but we have incredibly similar looks.

When you’ve been to cosmetology school/ worked as a hairdresser you can tell he’s never actually worked in that capacity. He explains hair color in the most basic form and doesn’t explain levels or formulation which would actually be helpful for at home stylists.
