He was just Amazing I never get tired of watching him in his prime a big man that quick not too mention he also had good ups to watch David Robinson almost speechless at a loss for words the league MVP that year look so demoralized says how truly great Hakeem was gave me goosebumps not many players did that to me LeBron has never gave me goosebumps just Jordan and maybe Dominique and the Shawn Kemp Dunk

He dominated all the centers that he played against him and check this list out 1.) Kareem 2.) A young Shaq in his prime 3.) David Robinson and 4.) Patrick Ewing . All these center are on the top ten list as the best centers to ever play the game and dominated over all of the them. Finally, out of all these,players he had the least amount of talent around him for the majority of his career. Amazing ! M

Hakeem is probably my favorite Center of all time. But I am willing to admit some recency bias. So when you said he dominated Kareem oh, I had to go look up the stats. And yes, you may technically be correct, but it's doing a huge disservice not to provide context. When Hakeem dominated Kareem in 1986, Kareem was 39 years old. 39! I think it's important to add that in as context. With that said, I still think he would have put in work against a prime Kareem, but a prime Kareem would have also given him the business. They both had an offensive game with indefensible moves. And Hakeem was better no doubt on the defensive end. But I would if their careers and Primes overlapped in no way do I think Hakeem would "dominate" Kareem. Still, Hakeem is MY favorite Center of all time.
@mythtek12 жыл бұрын
Are you kidding? Least amount of talent? Horry, Elie, Thorpe, Drexler, Smith, Maxwell, Cassell and later Barkley and Pippen all very talented players on both ends of the floor. Also Shaq didn’t hit his prime till 2000. Yes he outplayed Robinson in the playoff series but they faced off 30 times before Duncan came along and Robinson won more games and put up equal numbers.

Those back-to-back championship years could easily be argued as the 2 greatest seasons of any player in NBA history. Statistically, award wise, and who he had to defeat on his way to the top (not to mention who he had on his team). Michael was smart to retire and get some rest. That motivated the whole league to play even harder because the throne was vacant. Hakeem proved to be top dog. But in a low-post, grinder type of game back then, even big dogs get worn out. By the 1996 season he was physically worn out and didn't have enough strength to 3-peat

Hecular Rockets had the best chance of any team to beat MJ pre-Rodman. Once they signed Rodman they had 3 championship caliber players. Hakeem didn’t have enough fire power to help him take down those 3. 94 & 95 Hakeem had a more than legitimate chance of beating the Bulls. Regardless if Jordan retired, Hakeem still earned those 2 back to back chips the hard way. First without another all star on his team and second by being the 6th seed.

However when it count and that championship round and the playoff he would go off and stats and hightlights just don't lie. I can't think of no other center that I would want on my tead. @@tustari When Wilt said that he was in the eclipse of his career. However, when Wilt managed to turn back the clock later in the series against the Bucks, he dominated Abdul-Jabbar. Imagine what he would do against Abdul-Jabbar in his (Chamberlain's) prime. Additionally, someone stated that Olajuwon dominated Abdul-Jabbar; Olajuwon & SAMPSON dominated the LAKERS, but INDIVIDUALLY, a 35+-year-old Abdul-Jabbar held his own against the original TWIN TOWERS; just think about that for a moment....It would be fabulous to see Mr. Olajuwon square off against the PEERLESS Chamberlain; alas, we'll never see it.

@@gOaFMoments MJ fans rave about how the 1994 bulls getting 55 doesn't matter. Why? Because the 1995 bulls didn't play as well, when Grant wasn't even there. They rave about how MJ was amazing and led the Bulls to a 13-4 finish in his return. Jordan Double Nickle game in Madison Square Garden was highlight. Yet he was rusty when he lost to the Magic that had Horace Grant... *So which is it? Amazing in his regular season return that overturned the 1994 Bulls that had Grant? Or rusty in the playoffs when Grant exposed the bulls in 1995?* Jordan fans fail to realize this. Now jordan fans try to excuse jordan for losing in 1995 with the "rusty" excuse. I guess people forget that Hakeem had anemia and had to miss some time in 1995. This is why the rockets closed the season with a 17-18 record in 1995, even with Clyde Drexler. Yet in 1995 jordan fans act like he was the one suffering. Why don't Jordan fans remember this? Beside, didn't Mr. Rusty play his worst Finals in his career in 1996. Most Bulls fan don't even notice that Horace Grant played only one game vs the bulls in 1996. But Horace Grant is probably irrelevant to you since the bulls had both Toni Kukoc and Dennis by this point. Good thing Scottie Pippen was extremely underpaid. This allowed the bulls to keep both Toni Kukoc and Dennis Rodman.

@@gOaFMoments I like how some Jordan fans will say that Hakeem beating The Knicks in 1994 is overrated. Yet they don't realize what happened to Michael Jordan vs the Knicks in 1993.
@thedude35383 жыл бұрын
@@gOaFMoments I apologize in advance. Jordan has zero winning season without Pippen. In his entire career. Zero. Sorry. Most people don't even realize that even when Jordan had Pippen in the playoffs, he still couldn't get out of his own conference without Grant and Dennis. You can't even say that Jordan at least had Hakeem during the regular season because it just didn't happen. Hakeem beat Jordan in their head to head matchup for their entire career. I bet you never noticed that there was a point when the Pippen Jordan Dou couldn't even beat Hakeem in Houston from 1987 to 1996. Let that sink in. Jordan beat Hakeem in Houston only three times in his entire career. Well actually Hakeem beat the Lakers, Trailblazers, Suns, Sonics and Jazz all in the same timeframe that Jordan did. *Infact the only time the Sonics beat the Rockets were the years Hakeem second opinions in Drexler or Sampson didn't play no more than 60 games let alone if they were even on the team at all.* Let's go one step further. Hakeem only had four years during his entire career when his second option in Sampson or drexler played at least 60 games. Some people will act like Hakeem had Drexler since 1987 after Ralph was traded.
