The Reverse Sit is my BEST Half Guard pass. It is my A game and is very high percentage.
There is a little bit of perception that needs to be built when you reverse sit. You want your weight on your opponent ( check the video to see that my butt is not on the ground) and you need to bury your chest as deep as you can into that underhook.
One of the things that makes this pass awesome is it is a great way to kill your opponents underhook. This pass is also great because it is difficult to defend against, gives great submission opportunities and is uncommon (although I'm not sure why because it is easy to do and a lot of high level players use it).
Once you have reversed your body it is important to take that outside leg and bring it straight to the butt. You will find that it is difficult to do without the help of your hand. This should not require any flexibility, it is just an odd angle that we dont naturally have muscles for.
Once that leg is up it is important to push your opponents knee to the floor. I have seen this pass messed up so many times by people trying to push the knee away (as opposed to all the way to the floor) and try to kick their leg out. When you do this you have a tendency to lose your base on your opponent and then the next thing you know you're getting swept when that did not need to happen.
Dont be afraid to base out on the side that the leg is being taken, you can use your head and your arm but be sure to stay on top.
Once that knee is on the floor there are a number of options. But mainly I like to underhook the hand (which is almost always on the knee trying to stop you from mounting. Make sure to underhook the arm as close to the elbow as possible so that you can build leverage to separate it from your knee.

Man, I gotta say I really love this series. Very simple, and a lot of pressure. Can't wait to try this out.

I started underhooking the top knee as I turned into the sit last night which worked really well to allow me to unravel my leg, and also stop them sitting up as I got crazy and wiggled about as it prevents them sitting up. But I'm definitely going to try this method too. Watch out training partners.

I was going to start researching this possition as I always get swept when I am on top (0 stripe white belt). I thought I would have to watch a ton of videos. I was wrong. This is all I needed. Thanks.

At my gym most people seems to say to KEEP your hips on the floor. Why would your way be better or is it just a preference. They seem to say that they could strip out and take your back or whatever (something like that).

Hey Jason, great vid, very detailed. Question, when the bottom player pushes for your knee, is it "safe" to start attacking for the kamura? I know its possible to finish from half but from the positioning is it risky? Thanks!

The kimura seems like the obvious attack because of the position of his arm, but I've actually had far better luck finishing with the americana. As soon as your inside leg is vertical and he feels your knee slipping through he will be tempted to put his hand on your knee to prevent this (this is when your knee is still pointed towards the ceiling). When this happens, you grab the underside of his wrist with your free hand, push it up toward his head, and hand it off to the arm that was wrapping the shoulder. The leverage from this position is amazing, much better than americana from side control or mount, especially if you keep the two smallest toes of your back foot on the mat and use this to press into him.

I tend to get reversed when someone one bumps me in this position. I understand you want to stay chest to chest, but how about foot work? Should the untrapped leg post out more? Thanks!

the step when you drive his knee down, it looks like you have no base so cant you be easily swept from here?

this position is deceptive. You actually have quite a bit of base. It's going to be dependent on how far over his waist you are. If you are not pinching the arm closer to the hips then yes, you can get reversed. But you as long as you get a "good" reverse sit you should have plenty of base.

You can try to take your underhook out and swim the arm to the other side of the body into octopus guard. You can try to stop him getting his left arm all the way over and then put in a butterfly hook with your left leg. If he manages to get set in the starting position it will be tough. Probably best not to push on the knee because if he gets your arm above your head in mount there is a straight arm bar that is hard to get out of.

I apply the lockdown and get doulbe unders. Post to my right elbow and try to knock them in their back, if not the will readjust and you will end up in a dog fight position or a single leg position. You got to learn how to swim with your lockdown tho. And frame on their hip with your right hand . ( confusing lol)

g 3ds also you can try to use your right arm and push against his left arm and do the matcelo gatcia side control escape. Basically sliding Your right leg out and framing against his left arm
