@@smurfette_blues7922 So, probably not going to watch Logan twice then... i feel like that. I diagree with the boys on this one. I dont think its a great movie. Just because it was unexpectedly bleak slow and depressing for a superhero film and has some reasonable dialogue. Oh yeah and I cant see past flaws in the plot. They were trying to get the girl back cause they need her... but actually they just were going to kill all the mutant kids??? And actually they dont need her at all because they already have logan 2.0 in the van? And to be honest by the end I was thinking the mutant kids were so jarringly violent and uncontrolable they should probably all be exterminated. Which made logan's sacrifice kind of pointless. What's the point of learning how to live and then just die. Those kids are condemned to a non normal life the same as logan was. This has the same hallmarks as Darth Vaders 5 mins in Rogue One for me. I.e. some fan service logan clawing people doesnt make up for a drudgingly depressing movie.

We may see cameos from Ian Mckellan or something in some future movies, but I don't imagine we'll ever see another extensive Days of Future Past type movie again, and we're definitely not gonna see any full on original cast movies again... that era is effectively over now. @@doomstadt2371 I think it's less about the trophy and more about the public recognition. Like it or not (and trust me, I don't either), a lot of people still care about what those 'nobodies' say about movies. If a nerdy movie gets approval it brings nerdy stuff that much further into just general acceptance. That's a lot less of a big deal now when nerdiness seems to rule and we have things like Marvel that are just broadly popular, but I can totally understand people who grew up in homes that shunned this sort of thing being genuinely excited about nerdy stuff getting proper recognition. Jordan Peele's DVD commentary actually talks about the ending, where he originally filmed the ending Mike and Jay were talking about, where the actual cops show up and arrest Chris for murdering his girlfriend and her family (which I think is also on the DVD). But he says that given the current social climate, a happier ending was needed.

Hello, time traveller from 2025 here. You’ve got to see what happened when the social justice wokescolds decided that Hugh Jackman is just whitewashing a role which should have gone to an actual wolverine and so he has been retroactively replaced by a digital animal.

So funny enough, I recently watched a movie on Netflix called "The Perfection" that she stars in, and I think as a response to get out, she is in a Lesbian, Interracial, relationship. It's actually really good, lot of twists, turns, you never know where it's going, it's super bizarre, you should check it out.

+Redresseny The problem is that isn't normally the case. Remember, Dark Knight was a very thematic superhero movie but when the rest of Hollywood tried to imitate it, all they thought was "OH IT SUCCEEDED BECAUSE IT WAS DARK SO LETS MAKE OUR MOVIES DAAARK". In the case of Logan, they will likely think it succeeded because of the violence and that it was "moody". Hollywood normally takes the face value approach.
@sonofagun45057 жыл бұрын
Redresseny I know the comment is a little old but they aren't enthralled by the fact he's cursing. the fact that he cursed right away is kind of a insight on what the rest of the movie was going to be like. I personally felt like it coulda used less fucks, but it was showing you it's going to be a more gritty movie compared to the old campy x men movies. IMO

Alright, say what you will about X-Men: Wolverine: Origins. To me there's only one flaw with that film and it's that it only took about a year to make. I wish more filmmakers would learn from (imo) one of the only good directors working today: Richard Linklaster and take their time with the film-making process and let their actors breathe and mature in between takes. The whole production of Boyhood (2014) took a whopping 12 years to make. And if that's not the seal of quality, I really don't know what is.
@Elias62337 жыл бұрын
Toby Tamalin Boyhood is only praised cause of the gimmick. Take that out and it's a badly written film about growing up, done 1000 times before.

I worry the "R-rated" superhero trend will go too far, but when Deadpool hit I said if there are any other characters who ACTUALLY deserve a legitimate R-rated movie, it would be Wolverine and the Punisher. So glad they gave Logan this movie before Jackman left the role.
@jessica_jam43867 жыл бұрын
NekoMouser yeah some characters totally deserve R films, like all those characters you've listed. Some characters don't though like say Superman (even though bvs director cut is R....) Can you imagine an R rated Thor Movie😅 or an R rated Ant Man hah. So yeah gives us characters like the Punisher R movies, but also don't make everything R unless the source material calls for it

Yeah, just stick to the source material over movie "trends" and they'll be fine.
