you guys hit it right on the head - why do they keep hiring visionaries if they are just going to change everything they do? thats one of the biggest problems with the industry
@dragonphoreal8 жыл бұрын
Because either 1) cheap to hire, since I wouldn't call Josh Trank a visionary after he was apparently high on set not only for Fant4stic but also on Chronicle too.. or 2) They expect to get the same success as with Christopher Nolan without thinking it through or 3) The director they choose ends up not being as manipulatable or gullible as they initially thought
@slyermeister8 жыл бұрын
I think hiring directors like as Ayers is pretty much an advertising ploy to draw in fans of earlier work. Then they change the original cut without realising that defeats the purpose of hiring such a director, or because it was never their intention to give him creative freedom.

The thing that annoys me so much about this movie is that there is a suicide squad movie out there that has a lot of the same characters, that focuses on Deadshot, Harley Quinn and Joker. It's called Batman: Assault on Arkham. The Suicide Squad typically isn't the team to fight Superman level threats but rather do the government's dirty work so that if the plan goes off the rails, they can just kill them with no remorse (hence the name Suicide Squad)
@MikeSandersonVideos6 жыл бұрын
Flarrow Verse It's exactly what I was pretty excited about with this movie when the first trailer hit. I thought "oh wow, it's gonna be like a live action Assault on Arkham!". exactly, they made an incredibly poor 'live action' version of that great animated movie (they are, story wise, pretty close in ways). Well, I guess it saved on costs. But, for those who saw the animated movie first (as it came out well before the live action) it made the live action movie even worse. DC really shouldn't have gone full 'live action' (and butted heads with Marvels established universe). They should have gone their own route and redefined the animated movie (similar to what Akira did). They had the budget, the resources, the technical knowhow, but nope ..they went live action. Given the wealth of great animated movies DC has done, its a pity they didn't go that route. And taken their animation to the next level.

If he's the same age as Leto then he'd be in his early 40's. The type of person who would become a joker character, being in either their 20's or 30's during the 90's/00's would most definitely get a bunch of cringey tattoos. This movie could have been great if they changed one thing with the plot. Their mission. Have the mission be that they are gathering intelligence on the meta humans. They break into the bat cave, or flash's secret base, or area 51 where martian manhunter is being held, or star labs where cyborg was made. That would have been awesome.

Behind the scenes clashes between government factions in the various secret agencies. Stuff that involves people with super powers or incredible skills, but is too unsightly/embarrassing/shady to call for actual heroes. That caught me off guard at first too, but I think he means the nonchalant way in which the crazed psychopath is put down. It's a pretty common slapstick joke for a man to put down a crazed woman by a single quick show of force, and the way Batman does it made the whole theater laugh. I laughed too, it was funny, the criticism from Mike/Jay there is a little off base, but I see where he's coming from. Harley's a badass mofo, and goes out like a total bitch (to batman, to be fair)

The reason they don't hire someone like Brett Ratner is because it looks better on a press release when they claim they are hiring fresh new talent. They are also under the impression that doing so will end up earning the good will of the movie-going public. like "Hey look, remember that small scale movie that you all loved.Well, we hired the guy who directed it to take care of one of our properties. Aren't you excited? and this will be such a big boost for his career so this person can make more movies" The problem is that they view this person as nothing more than a patsy that they can shove around to make their version of the movie which causes a lot of friction and very problematic productions. This is why directors such as Edgar Wright left Ant-Man and Cary Fukanaga left Stephen King's It. Lastly , most of the movie going public doesn't give a shit about Brett Ratner.
@choreomaniac4 жыл бұрын
It’s also probably because they feel like they can bully a new director. This is their make or break outing! Edgar Wright has enough clout and reputation that he can walk away.
