Hello Mark and Merry Christmas. I am new in here and moved to a house that has a pool, so I am new to this pool craze and have a lot to learn. I have a Pentair iChlor Salt Cell machine, and my question is when it says that the water is cold and the red light stays on, should I turn it off and leave it off until the water gets warmer? Second question is, should I leave the pump on for 8 hours every day even if I am not using the pool for about 6 month of the year here in Arizona. Thanks a million.
@HallmarkPoolSupplies26 күн бұрын
@@ivanh2018 Most salt systems like the one you have will shut down when it gets cold. When the temperature gets warmer the sensor will turn the system back on. If you are keeping the pool open then you can leave the system on and run your pool pump at least 8 hours a day, especially if temperatures are below freezing. The other option is to winterize the pool and shut everything down. I have a video on winterizing an inground pool that may help, if needed. Merry Christmas to you and thanks for watching.

I have a Hayward light model # SP-582-L and as I was changing the bulb, the tab welded to the fixture with 3 tiny spot welds fell off now I have nothing for the screw to hold fast to. If you have the old style 500w screw in floodlight bulbs, can you simply replace the BULB ONLY with a lower wattage, same light output LED version? If not, why not? You can do this with every other screw in light socket in the house. Where before you used an incandescent 100w bulb, you can now use a 18w LED bulb with similar brightness.

Ok so I wasn't wrong when I sarcastically asked my friend's cousin "Who the "genius" was that cut the cord instead of just taking the light cover off to replace the bulb?" This chick said "My boyfriend told me that's the only way to replace the light" I asked her if it was the light or the bulb that he was talking about and she said "They are the same thing!". I asked her if thats what her boyfriend told her? She said "He knows what hes talking about he is a veterinarian they are generally not idiots". I'm sure you are now thinking just based off of what she said that this is going to cost a lot more than the price of a bulb. Theres also a leak in the pool I think its because it was left empty for a few years (we live in Las Vegas, NV) and she decided to just fill it with water and then call a pool company to do the weekly maintenance/service on it. She's trying to sell the house asking for way too much considering the issues with the pool.

My post may get removed but I have of to comment, I hope people will read this and pass it on. Please do not take what is being presented in this video as safe professional electrical advice because it’s not. I don’t know about the products that may be advertised here that’s not my point, Just sound common sense and safety to the public, Never enter a pool full of water or any water for that matter to repair replace any electrical device A/C or D/C. You may think of D/C low voltage like flashlight batteries, yes low voltage that is high enough could. What I am saying is , 1. AS A LAYMAN NEVER CHANGE OUT ANY ELECTRICAL LIGHT, LIGHT FIXTURE OR DEVICE NEAR OR AROUND WATER AND NEVER ALONE UNTIL SAFTEY MEASURES ARE TAKEN. 2. I WANT TO STATE CLEARLY THAT I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU FIND QUALIFIED , CERTIFIED, PEOPLE WHO HAVE EXPERIENCE IN CHANGING OUT A SIMPLE LAMP OR ANY DEVISE IN OR AROUND YOUR IMMEDIATE POOL AREA. 3. TURN OFF ALL POOL EQUIPMENT TO POOL SERVICE , THIS IS MY POINT OF MY POSTING AND I KNOW ITS TAKEN A MINUTE TO GET HERE, I WANTED TO GET YOUR ATTENTION AND USING ALL. CAPS. FOR THAT REASON. 4. It’s never that easy once you’ve removed the light niche cover it’s putting the screw back into the threaded hole to fasten it back to the pool light niche, the water is always agitated as you work from above or below the water level and the buoyancy of the deep end of an ingrown pool, These lights are factory sealed where the cord enters the light niche in the pool all the way to the very end where it is connected to the electrical source, it’s at this connection that creates the safety sits, It’s located a min of 5.0 from the waters edge and a min of 18” above pool water level in what’s referred to as a water and weather resistant J-Box or making connections safe and dry , the elevation keeps the pool water level from rising high enough to reach the light connection. I didn’t want to get into much detail about electricity but more about how something as simple as changing a light bulb could be very hazardous because if you are changing a pool or spa light out there is no where to run to or even walk away from , I will close with this because electricity will never deny you it doesn’t discriminate it doesn’t know who’s working on it because the electricity in homes , apt , in the US and abroad will hold on to you until you cannot breathe, and will immediately freeze you from doing anything but wait until some one tries to touch or move you , unless it’s done quickly your chances of being held in place while changing out a light in a pool of water would make it that much difficult to pull you from safety, There may be those that say yea, I’ve done it before and nothing happened, I’m glad that was the case , There is more to say but if I at least got your attention , please speak with a qualified electrician (pool) and ask him questions regarding my response. I think I made my point and nothing about the product being advertised here . Mainly a educational but mostly about be safe . Thanks for reading. I didn’t edit this so I hope it reads okay.

First of all, all swimming pool lights are GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) protected. These lights are 100% safe even when the power is on, when working on a light, turning off the power and opening the light above water you will be safe. For an example, if water gets into the light and you are swimming in the pool the power will shut off instantly. GFCI’s have saved thousands of lives and this is why lights in swimming pools are GFCI protected by code. I appreciate your comments and opinion and thanks for watching.
