The intro is pure art. I literally get a rush when he says "you don't know what death is" and then the theme kicks in... Like DAMN! That's the stuff these sorta movies are made of - moments. It's the best because it's tonally the most similar to the first one, but just MORE of it. It slightly elevates the stakes, it's a bit MORE exaggerated but still fairly grounded. I love the score, too. The added synth textures but basically the same themes...
@wadewilson8011 Жыл бұрын
Halloween II is a gem because it didn't have M0R0NS like Rob Zombie and David Gordon Green at the helm of directions "reimagining" their crap. Who cares if the setting, visuals, or lighting is outdated.🙄 It's a masterpiece of a sequel. A true example of "if it's not broken don't fix it." And Jamie (Laurie) being incapacitated makes sense. Because SHE'S INJURED you nitwits. She fell over a flight of stairs, which probably broke her ankle. She was slice down her arm with a butcher knife. She had to fight off a being that's driven by supernatural strength. And when she's finally rescued her adrenaline has obviously worn off. If you know ANYTHING about how the human body works, anytime adrenaline wears off, you feel like you've been in a 10 round boxing match. And when she gets to the hospital, she's put to sleep (DRUGGED). And you idiots expect her to just run around the entire movie being the heroine?! 🤦🏽♂️ Every time I hear a clown cry, "she just laid in bed the whole movie." WELL YEAH, she's basically the "damsel in destress" and incapacitated. Dr. Loomis is the hero, the protagonist set out to hunt Michael. What sub brain particles are you not using to understand that? It wasn't a mistake, clown, it made sense to do that. You know even Michael was moving a bit slower, because he was SHOT 6 TIMES. And there's only one unstoppable force per movie. So everyone else SHOULD react and recover like a normal human being does.

Well said. In fact, I think 2 wound up being the greatest outing from Pleasance...he gave as strong of a performance as anyone ever has in a horror film...And any criticism of the visual appearance, lighting, etc...strikes me as bizarre...Halloween 2 is a beautifully crafted film. The long dark corridors, the occasional splash of color, the room with the aquarium....it's a visually striking movie, from start to finish...

Because it is Halloween 1&2 fits together so well and everything is wrapped up at the end Ne sequel needed... 11 sequels later, here we are now

Simple answer... Because it is the best sequel!
@hinhwood1629 Жыл бұрын
The proper canon: 1,2,4,5,6,7. 2018 trilogy is a mess of borrowed parts from earlier sequels. In fact, only Ends has something fresh going on in it and that opening is genius.

The Halloween movies have always been great movies to watch and as well as be scared no matter how many i / you or everyone tends to watch these amazing movies... My favorites of all time are Halloween I, II, with Jamie Lee Curtis and Donald Pleasance) V, VI with Danielle Harris, Ellie Cornell and the amazing talent Donald Pleasance, just amazing and the dynamic / chemistry that these two young actresses have with one another and well with Danielle Harris with the late Donald Pleasance ...

I think my favorite scene is when you hear the night of the living dead main score playing and you see Michael walking across the grass outside the hospital on the security cameras.

When I watch this film, I always watch part 1 and then part 2 back-to-back, like one long movie, it's just a better all-around movie that way.

Its amazing that despite all the negativity that surrounds the making of the film, they still managed to make a phenomenal slasher film that lives up to the original classic and I feel it's the only one that does.

Halloween 1 with the extended tv scenes is really great. This sequel is the only one worth the price of admission. Being an extension of the original was a nice way to end it.

I love Halloween 2 because fits in with the first one
The sibling connection actually fixes plotholes in the first film. It makes it easier to understand why he didn't just go after Laurie instead of Annie. Like maybe he wasn't sure what he was going to do. Maybe he hadn't made up his mind yet. He never goes after until she interrupts whatever he's doing across the street. Had she not gone there, he may have never even gone after her.

Except they where never meant to be siblings at all
@davidjeffreys6646 Жыл бұрын
@scottwarnick5126 yeah but then the director goes back and adds footage to the original saying they are. Darth Vader wasn't intended to be Luke's father in Star Wars. These are stories and once you add to that story, it becomes part of that story as a whole.
@scottwarnick5126 Жыл бұрын
@@davidjeffreys6646 there was never meant to be a sequel to the original film that's why they added the sibling connection on to the TV version film. They where never meant to be siblings at all that's why the newest timeline erases the sibling connection because in that original film only they here never mentioned that they are family

I have always loved this movie! It was perfect in my opinion because it picked up exactly where the Original 1978 Halloween ended. Then the srtting, Haddonfield Hospital, was awesome, too! However, there was a time, back in the mid 80s all the way up to around the mid 90s, where Halloween 2 was actually... hated. It was panned by critics. Fans of Halloween were also not very happy with it. They were upset that Laurie Strode had almost no lines and her csreen time was mostly limited to her laying down in a hospital bed, or waiting for someone else to save her. But as time went on, people began to realize that this movie was so much more than just a "money grab" sequel... I have seen a few videos on why this movie is now a beloved classic, and the overwhelming majority of fans agree! Its one of the best sequels ever!

I love halloween 2 especially the beginning. Great movie. Warlock walked great too
@theshape3431 Жыл бұрын
Warlock literally had the worst Myers walk. Well probably second worst to Durand. Those 2 did not have the movements down at all
@TheRealMichaelMyers1978 Жыл бұрын
@@theshape3431 warlock was just a little more robotic and still, which is what john carpenter always wanted. Chris durands was a little more of a normal human walk but determined i dont think their bad. Halloween 6 had to have the worst walk cuz myers was heavyset and had a bit of a waddle in his step which was funny
@jesterskully563 Жыл бұрын
It is weird that both this and Kills have Lori incapacitated for most of both films. I liked that the new trilogy erases the siblings connection. Carpenter came up with that because he had writer’s block and borrowed the family concept from The Empire Strikes Back.

Yeah but none of those new movies topped part 2 thought. Ends came the closest

The sibling connection doesnt bother me, it got us the character Jamie Lloyd, who I prefer as final girl over Laurie. If only they had better script for H5 though Do not like the new trilogy, I am not a fan of retcons, especially when the sibling plot line has been part of the series for like 40 plus years.

Halloween is my favorite horror franchise and always has been since I was a kid. It took me until my late teens to see Halloween II though. For some reason it seemed like it was never on TV like 1 and 3-5 or H20.

For me, it is the images of watching Michael stalk through the hallways and corridors of a mostly isolated hospital picking off nurses and the like while trying to get to Laurie. The sister reveal is kind of meh, but the rest of it I love! Especially the soundtrack.
