The Silver Shamrock jingle has been stuck in my head for almost forty years, I've always considered this movie to be Halloween themed more than being associated with Michael Myers. I still occasionally watch this along with my other favourite John Carpenter movies.

I've always liked this movie and watch it every year around Halloween. I thought the concept of making the "Halloween" movies a yearly horror anthology series was interesting, but since the films didn't start that way, it figures audiences weren't into it. Who knows how it would have worked out anyway if the stories weren't good. Always loved the score of the film as well.

Movie is awesome! But they should have not named it Halloween, had it just been Season of the Witch I think it would have done better on it's own. Loved how it focused on Samhain and the background of why Halloween is celebrated. Love the creepy premise of sacrificing children. Usually a big no no in movies. Cochran was a fabulous antagonist. This was a genuinely creepy movie with a killer soundtrack. It is a shame the Halloween series was not an anthology as Carpenter would have preferred, but I am glad this film has gotten more appreciation as time has passed. I love the atmosphere of this film and the ambiguous ending is chilling. While we didn't get an actual Halloween anthology, John Carpenter's collective work could definitely be treated as a horror anthology. Prince of Darkness is another one that got overlooked but is quite creepy if you can buy into the premise.

I used to watch Season Of The Witch with my mother. Had no idea at the time that there was any relation to another series of films. I can walk past people I'm related to and not realise any connection. Halloween and Season of The Witch are two distinct stories and I'd have loved to see what Halloween 4 (or 5) might have been if Michael Myers had been allowed to become it's own spin-off.

We saw this when it came out back in the 80's, not what we were expecting. Information pertaining to upcoming movies was nowhere near like it is today, to say we were let down would be an understatement when it comes to the previous Halloween movies. Over time though, the movie has endured and is unique in its approach, cheesy special effects even for back then, but the movie is typical Carpenter and worth a watch for anyone that has never seen it.

This movie is underrated. Is it as good as the original? Of course not. Very few movies are. It's got problems, granted. It's far from perfect. But it's a fun, enjoyable movie that is always good for an annual watch. The weirdness is part of the charm and I know that's not for everyone but there's real fun to be had if you have the right mindset. Of course you need to be in the mood for something weird and campy but if you are and you're looking for a fun little movie to watch on Halloween you could do so much worse. Don't dismiss it just because it's different. If you give it a fair shot I think there's a good chance you'll at least enjoy it

I personally like Halloween 3 much more that the silly slasher flicks of 1& 2. Love the performance of the Dan O'Herley as Colonel Cochran. He's so....fine...with everything happening. His life and that of his employees mean nothing to him. There's an almost Lovecraftian flare about this man's faithful devotion to his Old Gods. Too bad the anthology idea never caught on. I remember seeing "HALLOWEEN III" opening weekend in high school. I saw "HALLOWEEN II" opening weekend the year prior and I thought this was going to be another Michael Myers movie. About 30 mins. in my friends and I started getting restless waiting for Michael and some in the audience were vocal about it. At the end of the movie, there was a loud collective groan. My friends and I disliked it and walked out disappointed. All we could talk about all weekend and in school on Monday was how much it sucked. But over the years I learned to appreciate the different path they were trying to take and enjoy it as a stand alone film and it's part of my blu-ray lineup every Halloween season. Plus it has a banger of a soundtrack by Carpenter and Howarth.

I always knew who Michael myers was and when I was a teenager and this movie was on tv knowing nothing about it just seeing Halloween 3 I figured it would be a good time to see what Michael myers was about. I figured out pretty quick micheal wasn’t in it. But could not stop watching this movie. As I got older I would think of it every so often and wonder if I had just misremembered that this was a Halloween movie. Cause it was the only one not like the rest. Probably the most frighteningly realistic depiction of what Samhain (pronounced in the authentic Old Celtic style in the movie) is really about. 10:39 Only a child would hold a single-edge knife like that: "ice pick" grip technique w/sharp edge facing in instead of out. Movie people do that all the time, but Michael Myers might have been the first. And he first did it as a kid. It fits in that case because a kid wouldn't be expected to know that you should have the sharp edge facing out (or away from yourself) when using the "ice pick" technique with a single-edge blade. Skallagrim would back me up on all of this.

this actually brings a lot of insight that they tried do something new n were starting with 3 then move on to 4 n so on. only they probably shoulda started from 2, but i kinda get it now different stories different plots that are like Myers, but different n somewhat more sinister. i guess if they retried again today idk maybe it could work

I found this film more unsettling than the first Halloween.
