@Roman Francis Yeup, if you pay attention to signs and screens they'll say something like, "Keep right!" or just "Stop". They sometimes direct you to audio logs as well.

I remember constantly pulling up my map and memorizing each and every turn I had to take to get exactly where I wanted to go. Then just taking each turn as they came one after the other in that order. This game actually taught me how to read a map! Crazy right?

I read somewhere that Halo ODST is loosely based on Dante's Inferno, and traversing the city is actually you going around the circles of hell. Even the name of your guide (Virgil) is the same.

I'm a bit sad they didn't keep the engineers in the game. On the other hand I liked them as part of the covenant and since they basically switched sides it doesn't make much sense to keep them as basic part of the game. I mean the elites as allies are cool, but a race that explodes as allies? Yeah, no thanks...I would't want them nearby me.

I mean in Halo Wars, Engineers are the only way to repair things as the Covenant - which is apparently something that they canonically do. So having an Engineer kinda' repair your vehicle at breakneck pace would be pretty cool, and they only exploded 'cause of the mines attached to them as a form of asset denial.

Question. When does the scene between Johnson and the engineer take place? Because Johnson was on the In Amber Glad with Chief and Keyes as it followed Regret to Delta Halo in the events of H2. That jump lasted several days/weeks if I remember correctly and more time passed after that (ie. rest of Halo 2). So this happened just before Johnson went after Chief in the begging of H3. Timeline seems too cramped there

Clarification: Vergil was in control of the Superintendent AI for the entirety of ODST (iirc audio logs show he was in the city before the Covenant attack, but panicked and took control when they showed up). The Superintendent never had the intel, it was always Vergil. The city's AI was a civilian model, and was not able to exhibit human-level thinking like military AI's such as Cortana or Serena. As such "This way stupid" and other street directions are clear signs of Vergil guiding the Rookie.

Absolutely, the Vergil subroutine was likely responsible for the guidance - though explaining that may have taken a bit longer than a minute! For all intents and purposes, that subroutine became a part of the superintendent; and the Huragok, Quick to Adjust, transferred it into itself. That’s given me an idea for another video though! Thinking along the lines of dumb vs smart AIs

Yeah that'd make more sense chronologically. I think it uses "Halo 3" because it uses the same engine and many of the same assets. It also released with a Halo 3 multiplayer disc with all the DLC included.
