Personally, my favorite Mjolnir variant is the Mark IV armor. The design of it is remarkable and features my favorite sci fi helmet armor design as well. It’s a shame this version didn’t have energy shielding when it was deployed. Fun fact: barring necessary augmentations in the lore, if I were to pick a sci fi armor to wear in battle, it would be this one.

The Nanosuit seems to duplicate Mjolnir pretty well adds stealth and doesn't have the helmet/CNS connection weakness built in. I don't think this would be a cut and dry fight.
@charleskehl1142
@charleskehl1142 6 жыл бұрын
True, the adaptability of the nanosuit would provide advantages versus mjolnir in combat, but combat grade mjolnir is more durable and the nanosuit wearer wouldn't be able to do much of anything against it. Plus Spartans have higher survivability than the nanosuit soldiers. Especially if the mjolnir was one of the sets which had an AI I don't imagine the nanosuit would stand much of a chance.
@djcuevas1057
@djcuevas1057 6 жыл бұрын
I'm afraid your wrong. The Nano suit is insanely more powerful than mjolnir when you really look into it.
@charleskehl1142
@charleskehl1142 6 жыл бұрын
You would also need to take into consideration that Spartans are much more difficult to kill than a nanosuit user would be. Yes, the nanosuit provides regeneration to quite a degree and is tactically more adaptable than mjolnir to situational changes since you would only need to change modes, not exchange a module. Hurting a spartan is difficult to do for many reasons, with or without their armor though. Factoring in armor which can withstand a drop from low orbit and function normally afterward, the suit improving their already immense strength and speed, and if they have an AI the even further enhanced reaction time. A nanosuit user working at peak capability, even with their Hyper advanced ai, would be outpaced by a spartan with mjolnir simply because they physically aren't capable of the same feats. Would it be a long fight? Most definitely, because of the nanosuits ridiculous regenerative abilities. Ultimately the spartan would come out on top though. Take into consideration gameplay to a certain extent as well. Small arms fire can take down a nanosuit user pretty quickly. Spartans can survive higher caliber rounds for longer. Energy weapons knock mjolnir shields down quickly but the armor and spartans can even take direct energy weapon fire for a decent period before dying. My experience with the nanosuit was very swift death when energy weapons were involved. If you look at strictly the armor, the nanosuit is definitely more advanced by a long shot. But more advanced doesn't mean it will win. You can't fail to take into account other factors present regarding their use when discussing which would come out on top in a combat scenario.

I will never get why the earlier Marks I-3 weren't used for ship defense and important bases. It needs to be near a power source, well on a ship it will be and it would certainly be useful seeing as how whenever a ship is boarded in Halo the Marines get absolutely slaughtered in CQB. Ask the inhabitants of Sword Base if they would've liked a few Mark 3s helping defend the Saber's. It seems silly to think that all battles are fought in the open field.

Actually h1-3 armor is very clearly the same, if you take the time to examine the details, but up to h4 the armor changed cause of special material altering nanobots cortona used on cheifs armor while he was in his crio sleep pod during the brief pause between h3 and 4, most likely to combat the prometheans/forrunners advanced tech and functions, whom of which came into the story later on once h4 arrived. They all do allow for enhancements and easy to install upgrades, but defense is totally different between the 2 versions.

supposedly, Gen 2 is not as good because the Spartan must rely on the suit to make them strong, whereas the Gen 1 are strong already and could probably straight up fight an elite with no help. I imagine they had to dial back the Gen 2 armor so it didn't kill the unaugmented Spartans

Spartan IVs are inferiorily augmented weaker than than the previous generations to keep the morality rate down but also slightly compensate with better technology in the suits. It would of been a hard decision to make for the top brass for political & economical reasons They also needed the number of Spartans post-war also.
@AlindBack
@AlindBack 6 жыл бұрын
Alright, here's the real skinny. The Mjolnir Gen 2 platform allows a Spartan IV to achieve a sort of parody of strength and speed with a Spartan II in Gen 1 armor. But, a Spartan IV's augments leave them a fair bit slower and weaker than a Spartan II or III when out of armor. Spartan IV augments also give them many more Space Marine-esque abilities, such as being able to digest a far greater range of substances while still getting nutritional value out of it, or a significant resistance to many toxins, but many of these new augments leave the Spartan IV at the mercy of organ rejection drugs that must be administered because the Spartan IV augments are largely a combination of cybernetics and bio-engineered organ implants/replacements. By comparison, due to augmentation happening around puberty, the Spartan II and III augments are largely therapies or chemical treatments that don't require long-term medical treatments (other than Spartan-III's in Gamma company who were given an aggression enhancing drug to allow them to keep fighting basically so long as their adrenaline levels stay elevated). Gen 2 is better, is the bottom line. A Spartan IV in Gen 2 being roughly on par with a Spartan II in Gen 1 means that a Spartan II in Gen 2 (as all of Blue Team are in Halo 5) is even that much scarier. Particularly when you consider that Mjolnir's strength enhancing comes in the form of strength amplification, meaning that somebody that could lift some amount normally could lift, for instance (not real figures here, just stressing the point), twice the weight with Gen 1, and three times the weight with Gen 2 (again, not real numbers, just showing how much stronger a Spartan II in Gen 2 should be than in Gen 1 or relative to a Spartan IV in Gen 2). The big leap from Gen 1 to Gen 2 really comes from the fact that Gen 2 has become much more widely distributed and produced by a far larger number of manufacturers.

My picks if I were a Spartan: Spartan III augmentations (minus the agressiom drug), Spartan II training, And Halo Reach mark 4 (standard) Mjlonir Armor due to how much flexibility is allowed or as it appears in the game (lower shoulders, slightly smaller chest)

I honestly would love a more in depth on the internal components. I always wondered how after the augmentation the mark 4 onwards even further enhanced their mobility and power. I saw your spartan biology video and after all that. How much does the armor stack untop of that? I mean in the game thry can topple warthogs and even scorpion tanks. I mean without mjolnr armor i am sure they could flip a warthog, maybe not carry it above their head but still. But flip a scorpion? I mean I don't know how much math is required or how heavy thr scorpion it must be allot. And what about ALWAYS being able to kill someone with 1 hit in the back in all the games, from space marines elites brutes and other spartans in gameplay I even think when co op the single player campaign you can kill the person you are playing with in 1 hit from the back. How strong does that hit to the back actually need to be to instantly kill someone? Breaking someones spine? Rupturing internal organs with how hard he hits them? I mean even with the invincibility upgrade in halo 3 halo.wikia.com/wiki/Invincibility_(Equipment) You can still be killed with 1 hit in the back. A single punch with the power of a moving truck or some or another.

Gen 2 armors are brittle compared to the other ones, chief had his visor broken twice, and had his armor invasively locked by two different beings. Gen 3 armor is where it’s at

Wonder why you didn't go into more detail about the microfusion power source that made this all possible? Tethered power, batteries, combustion engines, or wireless power transmission could never have achieved the lasting, portable and powerful energy output required to drive a system like this. It was the main thing in the Halo universe that allowed combat-effective power armor to exist at all. We can make nuclear fission "batteries" powerful enough, but the shielding required to survive the radiation is too bulky to be portable. An energy source like that is also the main thing keeping us from deploying powered armor in the real world. Advances in ultra-efficient batteries are getting somewhat close, but we are currently unsure if it is physically possible to create one small and powerful enough to get the job done, and miniaturized fusion is still a long way off, if it is possible at all. The fusion reactors we are currently building are either the size of coal or nuclear power plants, or the size of a large house for some still just in the theoretical digital modelling phase, like the hypothesized torroidal reactors. But before we use power armor in combat, we need a working power source, hence why it was THE most important thing needed to make project Mjolnir work at all.

We're nowhere near any major wireless power. Wireless charging uses induction and is basically a novel take on a transformer which is well over 100 years old; we haven't really come very far in that regard. It's literally just a transformer cut in half, one half located in a device and the other on the charger - you then align the two within the right proximity as if it were just a single unit transformer. The air is not a suitable medium to carry fusion levels of power, certainly not without annihilating people and objects in it's path. Without a physics paradigm shift it's either a hundred plus years away from being able to power a light bulb or just not happening.

I think that they did TBH, because Master Chiefs armor at the end of Halo 4 is taken off with the same machines used to take of the Spartan IVs armor which was Gen 2, while it could just be the machine has multiple settings, it seems like maybe it was Gen 2 chief was wearing

good points; perhaps the excess amounts of electronics and older, more susceptible parts could be damaged by the intense shielding? or maybe these vehicles were just a lot stronger in universe rather than in game; it wouldn't be very balanced to have a tank that just could not be destroyed. i mean, a 30 ton tank from ww2 can't be destroyed by 20 millimeter cannons, and the unsc scorpion has 500 years of armor tech development and more weight then on say a sherman
