Lyrics:
Its the thing in your thighs
when you’re lonely at night;
scroll though your phone
getting high off the light
numb in your chest
when you close the blinds.
repose in time.
And you tell yourself you’re fine
but you
Sabotage the things you love the most
Camouflage so you can feed the lie that you’re composed
This is the voice in your head that says
“You do not want this”
This is the ache that says
“You do not want him”
this is the glimmer of light that you’re keeping alive when you tell yourself
“I bet I could fuck him”
Why do you need love so badly?
bet it’s because of her daddy
bet she was brutal and bratty
bet that she’ll never be happy
I bet that you’re right
and I’ll show you in time
But I
Sabotage the things I love the most
Camouflage so I can feed the lie that I’m composed
I’ve got a monster inside me
that eats personality types
She is constantly changing her mind
on the daily
think that she hates me
I’m feeling it lately
I might have to trick her and treat her
to 70 capsules
or fly to a castle
so at least we could say that we died being traveled
cultured and flattered
and then I could trap her
But what does it matter
“You do not want this”
This is the voice in her head that says
“You do not want him”
This is that space in your bed that says
“Bet I could fuck him.”
Isn’t it lonely?
these are the standards
to which you could hold me.
think that you know me
You think that you could if you hold me
think you could try to console me
but I do not know me
no I do not know me
cause I
cause I
Sabotage the things I love the most
Camouflage so I can feed the lie that I’m composed
“You do not want this.”
Sabotage the things I love the most
“You do not want this.”
Camouflage so I can feed the lie that I’m composed
“You do not want this.”
“You do not want this.”
“You do not”

Someone called the entire album a FULL ART MUSEUM…that’s actually the perfect way to describe how brilliant it is…every song is a tapestry of sound that locks the listener into an authentic intimate experience and yes, it feels like an auditory art gallery of sorts…History has certainly been made and we’re all here to relish in it.

@francisbottoni6470
@francisbottoni6470 2 жыл бұрын
There is something profoundly enchanting about the way Trent Reznor plays those minimalist arrangements on piano…its part of what defines his genius…Reznor is also the 1st artist that coerced me to appreciate the aesthetic value of programmed drums & synths…think that’s largely due to his background in organic music: having trained at a classical level on piano & being self-taught as a multi-instrumentalist. Take all this beauty and bestow it onto a maverick genius like Halsey & you suddenly have HEAVEN on earth.

I relate to every single line, not a single feeling that didnt touch my chest. And there's something interesting in the line "you do not want him" when the whispers tell u u could cut anyone off or ur boyfriend and live without him but after the whisper makes u destroy everything u realize u do, want him. And it's so hard to go back and fix things. Jealousy makes it worse. Honestly, so thoughtful, Halsey opens my third eye

@@ivanbates6302 yes, although I do believe she is referencing her past more than now or future . For example, Easier To Lie directly quotes lyrics shaded at her by The 1975's Hit Single, The Sound-which is well known to be about Ashley/Halsey. So I do believe these lyrics had been written for a very long time, just waiting for the right time.

@Phoenix 𝙾𝚙𝚎𝚗 𝙼𝚢 PROFILE I’m super proud of you for finding a diagnosis. I just recently got diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. It’s super tough to learn these things about yourself but your doing it girl! I just got out of a pretty toxic relationship that on my end was pushing him away whenever he tried. It’s super tough to navigate this stuff but we’re working through it 💕

This album sets a fire in my heart. It let me know I wasn’t alone in my feelings. Blaring this as loud as i can gives me full body chills. This and bells in Santa Fe wake up the black widow in me…that society created. It reminds me of that “turn…..it….off….” Sound from tick tok… That feeling. Where you have to play a part to get ahead in the world but you’re struggling with imposter syndrome and identity issues… longing for stability and a constant, some honesty and truth.. but water meets its own level, and society as a whole… the gender constructs, the social hierarchies.. it doesn’t serve anyone. I dont want to look at people as enemies, or competition, or potential conquests. I want to have honest true real interactions with people and learn from differences in opinion and perception, not demonize things that are different or that i don’t understand. Being self aware in a toxic environment feels like being a seal in an ocean of sharks. They smell blood. Thank you, Halsey..for making this album. 🤍✨🌙

I’ve waited so patiently for this new album. Just so happened to be the day after my birthday. 💜 It's been such a rough journey the last several years and Halsey’s music has gotten me through some of the darkest times. It's like she knew exactly what I was going through. My son knows her music so well that when he heard me listening to it, without him even knowing it was her, he asked is that Halsey?! 💜🌸 I will forever have respect for her and her masterpieces.
