After finding the lute, I thought, "It's getting very late. I'll just speak with Halsin and go to sleep". Two hours and two attempts filled with fireballs later, I found myself looting a battlefield of dead shadow creatures. I'm trying very hard to avoid any romance with the other companions because I'm loyal to Astarion, but the "If you want me, I'm yours" melted me. And the new dialog options are wild. Whoever wrote his dialog is a genius.

His epilogue, where you and Halsin end up totally in love and in a committed relationship together, raising refugee children together and being the leaders of your new grove together? When he says “you’re all that I want” *chefs kiss* Way better than him not wanting s committed relationship and going off on his own. All of the hard work to romance him was well worth it!!

11:25 was just typing this; scroll of wall of fire plus a paladin with misty step and the repulsor tadpole upgrade meant nearly every enemy kept running into the fire wall and dying, and the archers that didn't, my husband's paladin PC could just misty step over and repulsor everyone INTO it 😅

Some pro tips for the fight by the lake that's really difficult: -Put darkness or a fog cloud on top of the portal so that no one can attack the portal from a distance. Honestly, this will save you most of the trouble on the fight since the archers won't be able to stack damage on the portal -Have Shadowheart (or a cleric Tav/hireling) with radiant damage spirit guardians up next to the portal. It'll instakill the crows that come to attack the portal. Alternatively (or in addition, if you have multiple clerics) you can have your spirit guardians up on the ground floor and use that to stack AOE damage on enemies running back and forth to put them in and out of the damage radius -Clerics are also useful for Turn Undead -If you have a rogue, there's a raised ledge on the opposite side of the portal rocks where they can sneak and be out of line of sight, being able to easily make ranged sneak attacks (though this burst single target type damage isn't super useful for a fight like this that's based on lasting a set number of turns rather than beating all enemies) -Lay terrain traps onto the ground before speaking to Halsin. Set up your smokepowder barrels, throw down grease, create water for frost or lightning damage, etc. If you have a wizard that's high enough level to have Wall of Fire, that works really well too -Difficult Terrain like ice or grease works well in general, because if an enemy slips while moving, it ends their turn early which makes them unable to attack the portal. Terrain that causes damage, such as Spike Growth or fire, can also break the invisible enemies out of stealth and make them much easier to target So yeah, in other words Wizards and Clerics are definitely your best choice to bring here, as well as Druids. Aside from that, I recommend having Karlach or Lae'zel to act as a durable tank to gather aggro on the melee mobs to kill them/delay their passage to the portal

BARRELMANCY. Making a barrier to protect the portal is a key way to get through this encounter. In addition to AOE damage and CC. It was the archers that messed me up. Also Shadowheart with Spirit Guardians is clutch, keep her in front of the portal and she’ll take out the weak enemies.

I just stacked barrels and crates around the portal to wall it from enemies and it worked 😅😅

The really hard fight... level 3 cleric spell, spirit guardians, utterly dominates almost all of Act 2.. also, we tend to forget it, turn undead

For the big fight on the rocks, hail storm & hunger of hadar work wonders for those on foot, and summon gaurdian of faith takes care of a lot of the rest that get too close

Malus Thorm is currently residing rent free in my nightmares. I was so glad you could kill him basically with words without moving so much as a finger, which was really easy with my rouge. But the part where we needed to protect the portal was hell 😣 It took me like 4 to 5 tries and barely manage that. I took Karlach around the Inn taking every box and barrel she could lift and built a wall around the portal and kept the majority of undead away with Shadowheart and a Stonewall Scroll. Not planning to get with Halsin in my current run, but he is so wholesome❤ and I might consider it for my second or third.

Spoiler. The shadow battle, I defeated them with using the stored barrels of whiskey, smoke powder, and oil I collect and keep at camp for large battles. I either set them up or have my strong characters throw them. Then I use alchemist fire and smoke bombs. Clears the area fast of course with Gales fireballs. I didn't think of those other spells. But now I need to restock. I just have mostly water barrels left at camp. Thanks for the video. I only played through once so far. I'd also like to note that there is a burried chest over there.

​@Mmogurl I did Helsin quest today and I can say it was one of the hardest. I used the magic scrolls to keep the enemies away, i gave them alao to my party members, so i coukd use more spells in the same turn (I had several and they don't use slots eheheh). Some stopped them from attacking. Krhers where fireballs + oil barrel (Michael Bay would be proud of me xD). But yes, that was so hard... but beautiful!

Was able to heal the portal, too. My friend was in control of our healer and i was a rogue, but i transferred health with mind powers and it healed it so probably normal healing spells will too? Not sure.

Hey can someone help me cause i have halsin in my party because i really like a druid but some of his spells is stuck on level one and cannot be upcast like thunderwave, healing word, and call lightning. also bear transform is on he's 1 hud(Action) and not his second hud (spells) . I tried everything, respec him back to level 1, didnt work, tried to change him into a cleric still didnt work Could SOMEONE HELP ME. It feels like im playing jaheira when you have them as an ally and not a party member in the monrise tower fight . he also kinda plays like himself in the goblin camp if you make him an ally

SPOILER!! For the fight for the portal, use WALL OF FIRE and put it on the left (if you have your back to the portal) towards the woods! If you have a scroll too, use another character that is mostly support and cast a second one right before the first one. I swear it was the easiest fight ever 😆 we had a few shadows and vines to kill near the portal, but most of the enemies got absolutely destroyed by the walls of fire 😂 and they were so far that they weren’t really able to hit anyone near the portal (they did a bit but missed most of the times).

Spirit guardians also a good choice especially near with mele fighter to stop some creatures in it. Saved so much time
