I think that was a problem with either this apartment or another house Paul Rudolph designed - all the split-levels and constant changing steps in the house made it a danger for the owners as they aged into their 70s.

I have always always always lusted after this townhome - to own it would be a dream come true. I loved how it was styled when Halston lived there - the 'gray days' where he had that oversized Warhol displayed to the far left of the Loft.

The Era of the Gay 70’s in NYC was everything it’s cracked up to be. (No pun intended) Fortunately, I had the foresight to leave the scene. Had I continued to follow my libido and illicit behavior, I surely wouldn’t have survived into the 80’s, when the party tragically came to an abrupt halt. Treasured Memories, far too Fabulous for words.

Me too. It made the space more monumental. I can only imagine after years of being stained with sex, drugs, and alcohol, it probably had to go. I'm sure the workmen got jacked just from breathing in the leftover cocaine dust while ripping it out.

@@shadowandsoul4331 Well, I've been reading lots since the miniseries and have seen the documentary (I was also a fan in the 80's and am wearing his scent as we speak, but I digress). Halston did have a cook/assistant named Mohammed Soumaya. So the kitchen was used daily (I'd still like to see it!). Halston also loved using Dial-A-Steak, a 1960s and 1970s version of today's DoorDash (being from Indiana, he preferred steak and potatoes). He didn't really have things "flown in," according to those who knew him best.
