Hi,good video well explained, got my Icom ic-7300 modified 2 years ago ,great on the cb frequencies, thanks from Rotterdam 👍

Being a licensed ham operator, it just doesn't make sense at all not to be able to transmit in the CB band, which doesn't require any license, and no call sign is needed. However, it makes sense not to allow CB users to transmit in the ham radio bands.
@mike-M0MSN3 жыл бұрын
Hi Andy, we are allowed to transmit on the CB Bands just not with Radio Amateure equipment as it is not type approved (it transmits above 4 Watts and has variable frequencies)
@dxfordummies3 жыл бұрын
It would be nice if it was legal if you used the proper wattage. Most amateurs can tell how many watts theyre using

I got my CB license in the '70s only to soon find out it was no longer necessary, still waiting on my refund from fcc.🤔🥱 I've had a 10 M export moded transceiver for 30+ years and have never once keyed up on 10 M one time! I just want a high-end radio. In addition, one of these would be far superior to my SW radio for LW, MW, and SW broadcasts as well as listening to hams, etc. Perhaps even prompt me to get the general license, which back in the day I would have already, if not for the code back then. I went up to 10 m today to listen to what was going on. All I heard was code stations and one contest. Seems like all the Hams were on 11 Meters🤣 Don't say no because they're talking about their QSOs on the Ham Bands, and running 100s if not KWs, not 12 Watts PEP. Most are great guys and fun to talk to and learn from. I digress; I think a lot of the Ham misfits that you guys won't talk to, QSY to CB +/- band to take out their animosities on us and or Dominate the Band, just saying. QSL/QRT 73/88

They probably solder a zero ohm smd jumper across the point at an authorized service center. What this mod does not do is modify the low pass filter to work out of the normal amateur bands so you could be risking the health of the finals.

@phils21803 жыл бұрын
I bought a used FT897 recently that has been WB'd. My FT891 also came WB'd from new, even though I didn't specifically ask for it. Both radios can transmit as clean "out of band" as they can in the recognised Ham bands so I don't believe WB'ing harms them in any way. If it did it wouldn't be so easy to do, there are other ways a radio could be permanently locked down. Personally, I'm not really that interested in CB so I've no use for WB transmit capability and certainly wouldn't pay to have it done.

I was looking at the optional TX full coverage of the FTdx10 on a major uk ham radio store and they put this warning on , are they saying using this mod can damage the radio? "NOTE: Transmission outside of designated Ham/ WARC Bands applies additional stress on bandpass filters & P.A. Components may fail if operated at high power for sustained periods. We reserve the right in extreme circumstances to charge for P.A. repairs"

I think you will find that if you do this MOD, you will have voided the warranty and as a result will be charged for any repairs.

Frankly: I'd prefer these manufacturers provide such as 4Khz or more,and leave the tx filter end points to the customer. FCC has no rules limiting bandwidth other than 'avoid adjacent channel interence'. So ...how come the 'ah...no sir! We do 'me too' 3khz.' I suspect its called 'me too'.aH...DID I SAY 'ME TOO'??
@mike-M0MSN3 жыл бұрын
I have looked in to this as it does seem odd, however all though the US has no rules on bandwidth, that is not the case for other territories and as our radio manufacturers supply the world they have sided with the majority. Cheers Dave.

Both of these radios can do 4k IIRC. I wish 10m had channels 10k apart just like 11 meters does. People starting a QSO 3khz away from my current QSO is very annoying.
