2.20 to 2.50 a litre in Australia for diesel atm, petrol abit cheaper, fresh food and grain products going thru the roof. I usually take distributor cap off and clean around contacts and rotor button and points on those old engines. Choking with a folded rag always helps them to get started after u pour petrol in. That'll be a good running engine with some carb work. I'd bet the intake gaskets dried out and cracked, which makes them really hard to start (but those Ford 300 I6 engines will practically run with all the internals scattered around a workshop). Hank's uncle striking oil like that was such a big deal that Flatt & Scrugg played a song about him! 😆

got here 8:00 pm just in time for the Hank and Wally show. used to see those old tracked vehicles up here back in the 70's. used back then for oil and gas exploration. that machine you have there might be a Nodwell and Foremost machine made in Canada. running and functioning machine can go for a good price. by the way, pop the distributor cap and give the rotor and cap a look see if their corroded and depending how old the vehicle is it might have points and condenser, give points a little filing. have a nice day.

here is a little tip for you guys pull the top off the carb and clean the jets with a bread tie wire i bet she will fire right up also make sure you got the firing order right looks like the wire was in the right place to begin with. anyway you guys rock love the vids.

Diesels regulate fuel only through the injector pump. Carbs control both fuel and air. Too much fuel is flooded, too little lean. to be "just right" it all needs to be "right." From what you showed it was too flooded.

5:52 No, that's the definition of _insanity._ Also you guys were flooding the engine with gas. Filling the bowls is done via the vent tube, not by just dumping gas down the carb. That's also why it kept blowing fireballs out of the intake :P

Hi from uk guys👋👍 first hank you pushed me over at 0 to 200 so gina got you some weight scales 👌💓😂😂 my sides burst open 😂😂 and yup the tappy tap on car defo need rebuild and you get needle seat and jets mainly together but on some carbs the are split to two part so needle seat and then maybe main just or secondary lol need any help on carbs mustie 1 on yt is the guy 👌 he uses ultrasonics to clean then rebuild or makes things and engineers to make stuff work👍 hes a sunday legend and sometimes Wednesday but hope the brake fluid helped cos I laughed at that too tbh mate but thanks for a great one guys 👍 thanks for your time be safe and see you soon👍👋

Little story gentleman Ford straight 6 cylinder quit running on me one day my buddy and me beat our brains out for over an hour lost timing he was turning it over if for some reason I just grab the rotor button it stopped dead in my hand roll pin on distributor gear cheered roll pin cost about $0.25 auto parts store gave us the PIN said they couldn't even ring it up

There's a little fiber piece on the bottom of the accelerator rod in the carburetor these usually will dry out if the carburetor was rebuilt it probably would start right up

Hank, WIley? Come on. Just remove the carb, clean it out, do a tailgate rebuild, and try again. We all figure between the two of you y'all should be able to figure it out. Shouldn't take more than two or three episodes. We believe in ya!

You need to check the ignition points in the distributor to see if they are clean. A little bit cleaning goes a long way.

It does not have points is has Electronic Duraspark ignition it is a mid 80's machine.

@@matthewq4b alright. But there is still the contacts on the rotor and in the cap . They do tend to corrode

@@dimievers5573 That is a non issue the contacts can have corrosion built up on them till they contact the rotor and it will still fire with no issues except under load at at low RPM. And honestly it will carbon track cross fire long before that happens. Same applies to the rotor, and the rotor input contact is a carbon ball and stainless pick up. That will NEVER lose contact from corrosion. It quite apparent you have limited or no experience with distributor ignition systems The engine it's self is a Ford Power Products 300HD, AKA 300 industrial. The issue is not the ignition system here but the carb. The engine should have a Carter YF or YFA carb on it. Instead it appears to be sporting a 1960's era Carter BBS carb from a Chrysler 225 slant 6. The engine will NEVER really run correctly with that carb...

If you have one Crosswire the engine will definitely back fire and if you get the engine started and you occasionally hear a pop coming out of the exhaust that also means you have a cross spark plug wires

Hey Hank and Wiley... Nice job on getting the engine to at least fire. If you get a carb kit and get it rebuilt, that should help... Also, I believe the firing order for the plugs/wires should be 1-5-3-6-2-4. Hopefully that will help. Good luck, sirs.

I think that the float is stuck in the carburetor, but that is only me thinking that..Try tapping on the bowl 🥣 about 10 times ⏲️ with your Cresent wrench 🔧and see if that might work..I'm very sure that you and wiley have at least 30 Cresent wrenches 🔧 in your truck???

Man I have run a lot of equipment but I have never seen a cage on a telehandler forks bent that severely 😆 I would love to know how they did that and didn't bend the boom it looks like maybe a cable was choked around it and tightened up???? Anyways great video Hank like always !@@@

You don’t have the firing order correct. That wire that’s tight should not be. It not on the right cylinder. Every gas engine has a firing order.

Might want to be careful guys, they will be putting ya in a straight jacket for mentally disturbed... I ain't sure the distributor is in the right direction.... might need to be turned a bit... most all six cylinder engines have this firing order or "Fithteen is too young, thirty six is too old but twenty four is just right.... 1, 5 3, 6, 2, 4! So put the engine as close as you can guess... I would just take the plug out an when the rotor is pointing to that no. one position, get that cylinder top dead center and see where its pointing to on the cap, if its not right, turn the distributor to the location your thinking is close... mark the distributor with some chalk so you don't have to fight the wiring.... once running, you can adjust to best run by ear

Did you clean / check the inside of the distributor cap and rotor?? Pull one of the spark plugs, ground it to engine, turn over and see if you get spark. I believe the two pedals are independant brakes, left for left track and right for right. The two levers should be the clutches???

Easy to check if the plug wires are correct, inline 6 cylinder Ford engines are very common in Australia so the firing order is 153624

the fan is still spinning backwards. check the battery, the vehicle may have to be a positive ground. and that plug wire is wrong...too short.

We thought we were getting a great deal on diesel for our race car truck at 4.89 a gallon amd turns out that was oklahoma i got back to texas and it turns out it was a good deal because diesel is over 5.00 a gallon . It seems like the closer you get to where they make fuel the more expensive it seems to get which makes no dang sense

wally i hate to tell you your business but, buddy! thats WAY to much gas your dumping strait in to the engine not the carb bowl. lol you have to slowly poor it down the vent tube on the carb to fill the bowl. most of your cranking no start issues were bc it was flooded and then it finally started bc it burned off all that fuel. and the not running issue is the carb float being stuck. but you guys are awesome keep it up!! im writing this as i hear you guys found out its the float lol

If you have a fire on the carb, keep cranking it over and it will suck it into the carb. Don’t panic.

A buddy tried doing plugs and wires. Pulled all the wires off, then pulled all the plugs. Put in the new plugs, no problem. Put the wires back on, 1,2,3,4 etc. Couldn't get it to start. Called me. I went over. Noticed the wires immediately. Did the proper firing order, turned the key, presto, fired right up. Two weeks later, he did the plugs on his wife's car. Pulled the plugs wires, changed the plugs, then called me to do the firing order. I wasn't home. I was fishing. His wife tore him a new one. I went over when I got home and found out. I left them with a running wife's car, and some trout. He's not allowed to touch her car anymore. Don't know why.......

Take that crescent wrench and smack the top of the carb in case the float is stuck on it. The needle on the float may be stuck closed so it let any fuel in
