The Circle. I learned this from a very wise Rabbi of blessed memory. He would often say how life is like a Ferris wheel. Besides the fact that it goes round and round, there is a deeper lesson to be learned. Every few minutes or so, the Ferris wheel comes to a stop. The purpose is to let passengers off and new ones on. So imagine while you are waiting, you find yourself at the very top of the wheel. Wouldn’t it be foolish to think, ‘Wow look at me, I am on top of the world. Life is great and everything is amazing!’ It would be, because in no time, the wheel will continue moving and you won’t be in the same place. The same can be said when you find yourself at the bottom of the wheel. To think, ‘woe is me, life is so hard and things are just not going well, I feel down’ would also be foolish for the wheel continues on…. Life, business, and the world right now, feels like we are at the bottom of the wheel and not going anywhere. But we pray and trust that soon enough, the wheel will continue on and we will find ourselves at the top once again, back in a smoother rhythm as it turns. Lastly, if we view life from this perspective, of a circle, the center point, no matter what part of the circle you find yourself in, is always the same distance. That center point is all the good we have in our life. For some it may be their family, for others it may be their health, etc. We can always do our best to find the good and keep on keeping on.
