Direct recording has a tendency to sound compressed. Would like to hear it through a good organ amp. Which a great warm, but biting amp for organ/ electric piano is a 1976 FET transistor Ampeg G110 with reverb and tremolo. It gets pretty loud too through it's closed back, front round ported, 10" speaker. A super great speaker arrangement for Hauptwerk is a pair of Magnepan Magneplaner speakers. Like real pipes, the Magneplaner speakers work by high mass/ low pressure. If you shut your eyes you'd swear there were pipes in the room. A little known easily reparable malfunction can get you a pair of Magneplaners on the cheap. If seller says they rattle, it's just the glue that holds the wider diameter solid core copper wire to the Mylar. The factory sells the glue. A nice aspect of these low pressure, large footprint speakers is you can use them in a smaller room and get proper dispersion. Also, and this my favorite things, you can turn them up louder and get little ear fatigue, and if you shut the door the adjacent rooms barely get any sound.

I would go for some Magnepans for sure, but sadly, there is no room in the space where my organ sits. I've listened to some of those at T.H.E. Show in Long Beach (audio show) - nice sounding speakers indeed. But a subwoofer is coming to the Hauptwerk setup by end of summer - small tweaks, one by one. Thanks for stopping by to watch!

I suppose my stand is more of a tabletop. Because I use a 32-note pedalboard, a standard XK5 stand is not wide enough. I'm using a sort of computer desk that we purchased years ago from a local office supply store - it sits at just about the right height. Some companies such as Classic Midi Works offer console tables that are somewhat similar but more specific to hybrid organ installations. That might be worthwhile to explore. I like real hammond organs and yes the xk5 is very nice, I like jazz and some groovy stuff. But if people can play like the dutch organist Cor Steyn didt in the sixties is a very big challenge kzbin.info/www/bejne/mZTMlXmvlriApLM
