Thank you sooo much Docs! I pulled my hamstring about a year ago. The pain comes back every now and then. This was the first time I was able to have the pain go away without drugs! The first time I did the exercises half the pain was gone! I was sitting on a heating pad for two days before that. That seemed to be the only way to have any relief without taking Tylenol. Thank you thank you thank you!!!!! You’re both wonderful 😁

This explains a lot. Another of your videos showed me that I was slamming my heels down when I walk, and going more forward helps a ton with the pain. I had been in physical therapy for 8 months and made no real progress even though we were working the glutes like crazy, and now I know why!!!! My hip flexors are super tight. I'm going to do these hip flexor exercises every day now, and combined with continuing the glute workouts and remembering not to slam my heels down on every step, I actually feel downright hopeful.

Thanks Bob and Brad for all the work you do on this channel, it truly is a gift to so many people. I noticed something today. I’m a part-time artist, and I sometimes stop the video and sketch out the exercise position you are demonstrating to help me remember the exercise. Today you are both wearing what appears to be black pants. Such a dark value hides the variation of tone on your legs and makes it harder to see, for example, which way your foot is pointing. This might be fine in person but cameras tend to collapse all the black/white/gray tones we use to identify shapes towards black. I would suggest wearing something that is a medium value, like 50% gray, for better contrast and visibility on the screen. Thanks again for your work!

But if you are a person who whgo has any kind of tightness or ilium anterior tilt due to the tight hamstring you shouldn't push the pelvis FW in the hip flexor stretch....it makes the anterior tilt worse, you can do this while keeping the pelvis straight - tested this many itmes w my PT and if I do it the way you just showed I get hurt. "i could do anything before i was 50". Im only 36. I have been trying to stay in shape since 9th grade. Lifted weights the who time and never pulled anything from exercising too much. Got out of the weights routine at 28, and Turn 34 and my upper hamstring begins to pull on a routine speed check of 40 yard dashes after riding bike for 3 miles. Never felt the sensation before so i finished one or two more which i should have not. First it was the dominant leg, now its both. it never dawned on me until recently and this video second my thought that my glutes have shrunk since i dont squat and only run now. i recently started air squatting but not nearly as consistent as if i were to be following a program.

I'm 67 and have chronic high hamstring pain. I've tried to do exercises like this, and I'm pretty sure at the time that I'm being gentle, since they're not weight-bearing, but I only seem to make the hamstrings worse. I've tried icing and resting for days before doing the exercises, and when I start exercising I apply ice afterwards, but no matter what, it flares up the pain and I'm back to square one. What am I doing wrong? Things may feel okay as I'm doing the exercises but the stiffness and soreness come right back the next day.

Are you addressing your hip flexors too, like they demonstrate in here? That's typically the main culprit when someone is having difficulty with hip flexors and/or rotators not responding to direct manipulations and stretches.

How can you tell the difference between a strain and a tear ? I’ve been injured for 2 weeks now with a hamstring problem and I don’t know whether it’s a tear or strain - I couldn’t walk on it for the first two days properly but I can now walk and even jog lightly
@michaelzichelli72044 жыл бұрын
A hamstring strain is essentially a minor tear. If you are able to walk around and still have mild pain it is only a strain. A complete tear would prevent you from moving and is so severe you would need surgery

I injured my upper ham while trying to get up on a wake board, I heard a pop. Is this a strain or a tear? Dr said to rest it, but it’s been almost 3 months and I’ve tried to go back to running (as I have a marathon in 3 months) and my stride is quite limited due to pain and lack of range of motion. I’ve been swimming and walking the whole time so my muscles won’t atrophy but there’s a lot of pain with running or hamstring curls.

Hello. I’ve recently developed what I’m pretty sure is a “sports hernia” (aka athletic pubalgia). I’m trying to learn about it and how to self-treat. It’s not extremely painful, but it is concerning. It involves not only the inner groin but the whole left leg. I really appreciate your video and I want to continue working doing the exercises you advise because I think the hamstring is probably involved. Do you know if any of your exercises help or aggravate a sports hernia? Thanks in advance.

I have a question: I was thinking that these exercises would put strain on the affected hamstrings as well as on your glutes, and so be counterproductive perhaps, causing the already injured hamstring to become worse?
