Great video. I fully agree with your sentiments about hand over hand steering. For some reason this urban myth regarding pull-push has been perpetuated for as long as I can remember - and I got my licence way back in 1975! You just left me hanging a bit with the last comment regarding the airbag deploying. My argument has always been that you're better off using the best technique for the particular driving situation to avoid the crash in the first place.

Thanks for your feedback, I really appreciate it. I agree with your thoughts, I will rewatch and review the airbag comment....I remember when I did a defensive driving course, that was one of the points they made....I will do some more thinking on it. Many thanks Brendan

I’m currently learning and watching this has helped so much, so this wouldn’t fail me on a test?

Hi Tylerjane, thanks for your comment, are you in Qld? If so, no problem with hand over hand, go for it!

So I taught my wife hand over hand Her instructer here in Qld gold coast just told her , it's illegal and she'll fail her test if she does hand over hand She told her the UK method of shuffle is the proper way. Any other way is not accepted in Qld I can't find info on this on their website or learners manual? Is there any truth to this ?

In Qld in the QSafe Policies and Procedures Manual for Driving Examiners it definitely states that both steering techniques are accepted by examiners. That’s not my opinion, that’s what the government say. Many trainers promote a certain steering technique for various reasons and that’s fine, but my tutorial is based on transport main roads guidelines as I train people to be driver trainers and they need to be in line with that. I hope that helps and good luck with your wife’s test.

I can't believe you have your hands at 10 and 2 instead of 9 and 3.
@wattotraining7573 жыл бұрын
….in Queensland, Australia the Qsafe assessment system as set by the government accepts both so the content is in line with that but if you want to use/teach 9-3 that’s acceptable.
