Handcannonier Project Part III - The Shoulder Protection

Introducing part 3 to my ongoing Handcannonier project where I attempt to build an experimental Medieval harness dating to the mid-late 15th Century which I believe a Handcannonier or Gunner would have worn during their service as an armoured career artillery soldier throughout the War of the Roses.

Really nice! It seems to me that it would be possible to pass a ring of chainmail through the two holes in the middle, rivet it closed and tie the leather strips through this ring so that they remain under the plate. That will probably make them impossible to untie but it seems to me it's a much more reliable connection.

Well I have recently just received my maille voiders which will be sewn into my arming jacket. I will make a video showing them together with the spaulders but I'm still waiting for my jacket to be completed

Is there any risk of coming loose due yo damage to the leather ties?

Aglettes/leather ties are surprisingly harder to cut than you might think. They are good at absorbing incoming strikes and tbh if I had a big axe or sword pounding down directly on my shoulder I would be more worried about my broken shoulder than my broken leather tie haha. The spaulder plates won't prevent injury, they will just make it less serious in most situations.
