Yes like a normal baitcaster. Sorry for late response. This reel is decent for a cheapy but not the best I've fished for sure.

I have other handing rods and real I like them. Watching your video I am trying to decide between the medium heavy or the medium rod.

Harold, I don't know exactly what you plan on fishing with it but I will tell you Handing usually under rates their rods slightly. The medium is between medium and medium heavy. It is not a BFS rod. For the money I believe you can't get better rod period.
