Yes, that sounds fire, but exactly that's the frau. (I can't write the end of the word, or the comment gets deleted)! You need to be aware, that FSD is still 5-8 years away. They need to improve it to get a hundred thousand times better before it reaches human capabilities. For a reviewer to be able to present FSD's human capabilities, he should present you more than a hundred thousand hours of intervention free drives. That would be 200.000 half hour drives without intervention. And it has to work in any city. New York, etc. That's why these videos are maximally worthless. You can only prove this with a fleet of hundreds of thousands of cars. One reviewer making videos has ZERO relevance. When they litter the media spaces with the frau....nt claims, that it's 6 times safer than human NOW, that's practically insane level of frau. . Think about it, reality is 5.5 orders of magnitude worse than the claims.

I have a Y on order and it will save my mom, who is 81 years old. She cannot see well enough to drive safely at night now, and her ancient Volvo gets so hot she can only drive in the early morning, she cannot pre-cool it like a Tesla of course. Having a Tesla that will just drive her around will be so much better for her, compared to a '72 Volvo. I do not buy cars, I am 57 and have owned a car for 27 months of my life. And the most I have spent on anything was like $4500. But the 0.99%APR and the 12.4.1 and the long time desire for a Tesla and to help my mom out...had to pull the trigger.

Hi from Vancouver. We are 3 weeks into our complementary FSD on our new Model Y. It’s 12.3.6 with a number of annoying faults and so far 3 or 4 safety interventions. We still subscribed for FSD because this version with its bugs is quite impressive. I’m expecting 12.4.2, or whatever public version, will make a big improvement. 12.3.6 was worse than expected so my fingers are crossed, hoping for much better. 12.3.6 KZbin videos looked great, but the reality was scary at times, and it did lots of annoying things such as phantom braking at EVERY crosswalk at green lights, indecision when changing lanes or improperly doing turns that had 2 turn lanes. I think the navigation maps for Vancouver are not accurate, contributing to the mistakes. Both FSD and Navigation versions must be better here.

Yes, it works great. I use it every day. And I don’t have the latest update, but even the current one is very good. Occasionally, though it does make an error sometimes kind of severe. You do have to watch it. And if you were going to buy a Tesla, and would like to have FSD, the thing to do is to buy a used one directly from Tesla. Because this upgrade does not add a lot of value to a used car, but it’s very expensive on a new one. And all the used ones from Tesla also come with acceleration boost, which is a $2000 option. But free on a used car from Tesla. While the new model three is nice there is no way it’s worth the cost difference between that and a good used one. Especially if you can get FSD at a very steep discount price on a used car. And FSD is something that you need to have if you have a Tesla. Because that is the killer feature of the car. I would not have one without it.

2 things stopping me paying the money for FSD. 1) I live in Australia and don't know that its optimised for my country. 2) I wish they would let you transfer FSD when you move to a newer tesla. I don't want to spend $10,000 then lose FSD when I trade to a new car.

It is well known, and Tesla acknowledges, that FSD performs better in areas with a greater density of Teslas to provide training data; and Omar's areas of LA and the San Francisco Bay Area are probably where the density of Teslas is the highest in the U.S. For this reason, FSD doesn't do as well in areas with less density of Teslas, and thus less training data. But the good news is that the performance Omar experiences shows what FSD can do with adequate training data, meaning that other areas will eventually achieve the same performance, some sooner than later.

Tried the FSD trial and then subscribed for another two months to give myself an extended trial. I have dropped my subscription. It is not for me. Way too many interventions. Too many mistakes and missed speed signs. Flys through school zones. It lacks the JUDGMENT that a human driver has. Going from point A to point B usually has numerous options. NAV will select what it considers the most efficient option but I know my city roads better than NAV/FSD. I know the routes with pot holes, school zones, speed bumps and crazy bat-out-of-hell drivers. Truly, the best FSD experience is heavily supervised. In the end I asked myself “do I really need this or is autopilot sufficient.” Like most other Tesla drivers who have faced this decision, I decided I don’t need it.

Please tell me how you do this without it constantly telling you to keep your hands on the wheel?

You probably should have mentioned the fact that any trial will not currently have this version. My guess is by the time you get one if you custom order it, it will have this version.

that rubbing sound on the steering wheel was super annoying in my S until i figured out how to fix it. it happens when it’s all the way up or down so just lower it

What I'm most concerned about is FSD does some incredibly dangerous maneuvers. Recently I had to slam on the brakes because it wouldn't stop behind another car stopped ahead of me. I wonder if FSD can truly be solved. I've been using FSD for the past 3 years.
@BigBen6213 ай бұрын
It will never be perfect, if that's what you're expecting. But FSD (Supervised) is already far, far safer than humans driving, which is good enough for me.

@@BigBen621 That's a statistic. You know what they say about statistics. Ain't no way my model 3 12.3.6 is safer than me or any average person. I would have wrecked twice without intervention the last time I used FSD for a week. Car blocking the view of my U-turn on Sahara? I saw the approaching van at high speed behind the car, Tesla did not. People solve this 10,000 times a day in Las Vegas and never crash, still a very dangerous problem set for visual AI. Stay vigilant and keep posting snippets.

@@Furyswipes _Ain't no way my model 3 12.3.6 is safer than me or any average person._ Of course not, and that's not what I said; I said *FSD (Supervised),* which means FSD doing the right thing most of the time, with the human driver there to step in when it falters, is far safer that either a human driver, or presumably FSD on its own. You may believe it or not, and disparage statics when they don't support your narrative; but statistics are about the only way we have of knowing the relative safety among various choices. And the statistics, from NHTSA sources, not Tesla, are quite clear that human drivers would have experienced orders of magnitude more accidents, injuries and fatalities than FSD (Supervised) actually experienced driving 1.3 *billion* miles over the past three years.

@@BigBen621 relax man, paragraphs not needed. No, Supervised FSD 12.3.6 is also not safer than just a person driving. Come on, do you use it? I'm just judging my my own personal moments of peril built up over a week of non stop FSD. It'll get good. It'll get perfect. Don't take everything like a personal attack, jeeze.

@@Furyswipes _No, Supervised FSD 12.3.6 is also not safer than just a person driving._ You're apparently basing this on your own anecdotal experience over one week, plus your fallacy of personal incredulity. I use it all the time; but I'd have to use it for hundreds of thousands of miles to draw any safety comparison between FSD and human drivers. Luckily, Tesla and NHTSA have done this for us, so we don't need to. I'm not taking anything as a personal attack, just facts to either accept or refute. If my engineering approach is offensive, I apologize.

Good luck finding a dealer that will give you the instant tax credit. I spoke to dozens of them and none of them would give me the instant credit they all wanted me to file it on my return. So good luck with that I couldn't find anyone to work with me on it except one out of the several dozen that I tried to buy from most of them never heard of it and the others didn't want to mess with it. Just my experience so far shopping for a used model 3.

The 12.4 update allows for the internal cabin camera to validate you are paying attention, but currently only works if you are visible to the camera. So no low hats, no sunglasses currently if you want hands free, otherwise it will default to the nag you know currently.
@rwest89053 ай бұрын
@@joewiley6927 Not sure which version I had. The internal camera was still monitoring because if I looked down at my phone, I got a warning to look straight ahead. But the constant pressure on the wheel was a real deal breaker for (aside from the cost). Enjoyed the video! Thanks.

@@rwest8905 _the constant pressure on the wheel was a real deal breaker_ You don't now and never had to apply constant pressure to the wheel. Even on v12.3.6 and earlier, you had the option of resting a hand on the wheel at about the 4:00 or 8:00 position or some other method to apply a constant small torque on the wheel, *or* interacting with the wheel only when you get a nag, which can be as long as every several minutes on a highway.
@techaponsornloon38273 ай бұрын
How come you don't need to keep touching the wheel while using FSD? My 2024 Model Y keeps asking me to touch the wheel every 2 minutes whenever I use FSD.
@BigBen6213 ай бұрын
Starting with this version (v12.4.1), if your Tesla has the internal camera and the camera has a clear view of your eyes (no sunglasses or long-brimmed caps), attention monitoring will replace steering wheel nags, and you'll never be required to touch the steering wheel or get a steering wheel nag.
