Hats off to you Simon. The people you get on your channel is a Stella achievement. Come on people, get this guy over 10k subs. I have the BB 41 heritage witch has silver numbers on the bezel, not gilt like the BB58, and I think that's what they should have done on this new GMT, it just has too much gilt. Keep the gilt on the indices, and hands, that's it, job done!

A month ago I purchased the Tudor black Bay 58 GMT 39 mm. To my surprise and disappointment, the next day I noticed that the 12H hour hand was not in sync with the 24H GMT hand. Specifically the hour hand lagged about a quarter of an hour behind where it should have been is synchronized with the GMT hand. This occurred only after some four hours of setting both hands (when they were in sync). I returned the watch to my AD where they instantly recognized the fault with the movement. Fortunately my AD gave me a full refund, and sent the watch back to Rolex for investigation and service. I understand that this is a new in-house movement by and for Tudor. I was left wondering if Tudor was too hasty to rush this new calibre to market. But I was surprised that a watch manufacturer of their reputation could allow this mechanical fault to get through their quality assurance program.

Sorry to hear about your experience. Tudor have had movement and QC issues in the past - I remember an issue with the date wheel on the original BB GMT movement that was widely reported on in forums and some Pelagos owners used to experience the lume falling off the bezel insert. All brands will have the occasional warranty issue but the real test is in how they deal with it and restore customer confidence.

I tried it on 4 times; it is gorgeous. The watch fits my 7-inch wrist very well. I have worn my friend’s Black Bay GMT (41mm); the 58 is a major improvement.

I hear some folks calling the new Tudor BB58 GMT the Dr. Pepper. I think that name fits. I held this watch on bracelet in the AD a couple weeks ago and it was impressive and a real beauty, but it did not dissuade me from my intended purchase of the Tudor BB Pro which I absolutely love. Enjoying your channel content. Keep up the great work.

picked mine up a few weeks a go and am really impressed . this is my third Tudor after having a north flag and pelagos39 and i think they are great value compared to other brands . if its your only watch then yes the gilt might seem a bit much , but if you have others then i think the BB58 GMT stands out and just offers something a bit different.

Yes a bit too much with the "gilt" elements. It's meant to be the yellowing of the material on the vintage Rolex. By the way, it is plexiglas on the Rolex bezel, not bakelite. Rolex cleared this up once and for all in their latest magazine.

I bought the BB58 GMT last week, and for me it is the best & most favorite watch I've ever owned. It's build quality and attention to detail is outstanding. When I wear it I get the same feeling as the first time I drove a Porsche or the first time I wore my very first Rolex (a quarter of a century ago!). It's impossible to describe how good it looks - and how good it feels in the wrist. I find myself - even now - stopping and just admiring the beauty if this Black Bay 58 GMT. To put it in perspective, I have a Black Bay GMT in opaline, an Black Bay 58 and a Black Bay 39mm. The BB58 GMT is better than those 3 watches put together (IMHO).

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts about the wearability of the new GMT versus the Pro. Is the thickness reduction in the new all down to the case back protruding from the case less than the Pro? I, like you, wear a Pro and I love it but I'm just interested to know. I was anticipating the being a Tudor x Visa RB release and in your video there is one, pictured in front of the F1 steering wheel at W&W. That's just a development watch I guess? I don't believe it's publicly available? Any info on this? Cheers
@Escapement247 ай бұрын
It's a shame I wasn't wearing my Pro at Watches and Wonders so I could do a direst comparison, but the side profile of the case of the 58 definitely seemed thinner...but maybe only by 1mm or so. This would make sense as the 58 has a new GMT movement (I think the Pro uses the same 5652 movement as the regular BB GMT). The VISA RB BB Ceramic was on display but no mention of whether this blue dial version of the Ceramic will be made publicly available as part of the range. If they were going to I suspect they'd have done it already, with a release to coincide with the start of the F1 season. Who knows...maybe they'll launch it at one of the big races on the F1 calender later in the year, such as Au Dhabi or Las Vegas 🤔

@gavinwhite97437 ай бұрын
Think the gilt is too much for me. However, Tudor watches have had a pop of colour for the past 10 years. The new monochrome Black Bay is lovely, but wonders dangerously close to clomage territory, with the risk people mistake it for a Rolex. So maybe that gilt keeps it more in line with the rest of the range.
@michaelfierman32567 ай бұрын
I’m afraid I have not seen it in the metal yet. My initial reaction is the same as most people. Can’t get past the gilt. It’s just a bit “too much” and I’ll guess that if it had come out in 2020 most people would be fawning over it. I feel the “vintage vibe” is stale. Love the monochrome 41 and also that Pelagos you showed.
@Escapement247 ай бұрын
That's a really good point - while this is the watch "everyone wanted", I wonder if the past tense is actually spot on. It feels like Tudor might have missed the GMT craze and I wonder if the community has moved on?
@carlmoulton5719Ай бұрын
If people don’t like gilt/two tone watches then they shouldn’t try to force themselves to like it. It is selling like hot cakes and if you do like the gilt/two tone look it’s an unbelievable watch. If you don’t, fair enough but it’s not a fault of the watch. It’s personal taste.

It’s an outstanding true gmt, cosc, metas certified watch for 4k. No watch wearer is more insecure than one that needs to bang on about rolex all day. We all know the connection with rolex and Tudor and Tudor no doubt dip into the catalogue for vintage inspired pieces but they not homages like a steinhart.
@leeharding83067 ай бұрын
I’ve seen this watch in the flesh too and the gilt and the bezel gloss really ruins it for me. Also it’s thicker than the standard 58 which is fair enough but the standard 58 is just perfect in its proportions. When they do a non gilt version which they will it will be a different story. Obviously the new standard 58 will come out next year and that’s going to be the one to get. Who really needs a GMT anyway? Having said that who needs a 4K watch 🤦🏻♂️
@carlmoulton5719Ай бұрын
Who needs to complain about a watch that is .8mm thicker than the original 58! An identical looking but inferior in every way 1950’s rolex gmt does for late £50,000’s. I’ll take the Tudor
