Just wanted to say that the YT algorithm decided to put this vid on my front page although its very different from what i typically watch, I'm glad it did. You provided a very good, well shot, informative vid / tutorial while being short and straight to the point. well done!

I've just started a cycle of press hs training, I'm still working fully on the wall. My flexibility is a factor even though I have been working on pancake stretches for over 12 months! Good old footy hamstrings!
@PaulTwyman Жыл бұрын
Yeah keep the Jefferson Curls and Straddle Pancake consistent. Plus once you have the balance, eccentric press can be easier freestanding especially if you have strength

I’ll definitely add this to my routine. We’ll explained and to the point ❤

This baxk to wall drill tests to the limit ones ability to have all things for press. I like it I can combine it will a little bent arms to have the mobility to press from more or less floor hight with my legs. Thanks Paul for all these wonderful drills and your dedication !
@PaulTwyman8 ай бұрын
Yes slight bent arm is a very useful tool and can unlock skills or drills for a lot of people

This drill vs the chest to wall version. I find these help more with the flexibility part of the lower back hamstrings while the chest to wall version more shoulder strength part of it

First thing first. Thanks a lot for your very precious YT channel. 🙏 The point for me with this drill is that the more legs coming down, the more I push with the back of my head to the wall... Flexibilty ? Lack of upper back strenght ? Both ?

Spinal mobility and trying to maintain as much hip height as you lower

Paul...this vid was recommended to me today...similar to vids I've been interacting with you via comments...the on-the wall-off-the-wall (0:34-0:50) exactly what I'm having trouble with...seems I'm stuck to the wall?...will L-sits to shoulder stand reps be helpful to me unlocking the movement it...? Any other exercises...?
@PaulTwyman11 ай бұрын
You can go closer to the wall and build strength and conditioning, slowly moving further and further away. And yes shoulder stands , tuck hands and anything that strengthens upper back will help

@@PaulTwyman Thanks Paul....appreciate the suggestions and have found your videos very helpful...you cover the range from beginner to more advanced in a lt of your vids....great for me who's basically just starting cali with strong foundation in weight lifting....flexibility and technique are my huge weaknesses.....and, obviously, teqnique specific strength...

Hi Paul! Thank you for your tutorials! I tried to do the one with butt/back/head stacked to the wall, but I have a slight arch in my back even when I try to crunch it in. And then when I lower my legs to around the butt level, my legs just fall immediately. I couldn’t do it slowly with the lower back and upper back to the wall. Do you have any advice for this?
@PaulTwyman9 ай бұрын
Hard to say without assessing but I’d be looking at head to toe mobility, articulation of the spine etc. Plus handstand control straight, straddle and tuck. Hope that helps

Do u recommend doing presses with ankle weights in order to achieve multiple presses?
@PaulTwyman Жыл бұрын
Not normally, they can be a useful tool but i would only use them occasionally and not for beginners
